Any chance of Microsoft taking the L and divesting COD instead of walking away entirely? Could still end up with Blizzard and King.

Though I can't imagine them getting near what they'd want for COD part of Activision considering how clear the regulators are on what cant be done with the property. Which will basically mean 10s of billions spent on Blizzard King
Lost their chance on that one.
We found that the only effective remedy to this SLC and its adverse consequences is to prohibit the Merger.

Yeah, the findings basically kill any chance of any remedies (behavioural or structural).

The issue that MS faces is that there seems to be an argument to blocking any purchases related to cloud gaming that the CMA could default to.

This is why I really think Microsoft should restructure their Gamepass tiers. Microsoft only leads in cloud gaming because they have it included in the ultimate tier.

I think they should remove cloud from the ultimate tier, lower it's price by a dollar or 2, then add an ultimate+ tier which includes the cloud capabilities. The new numbers would reflect how many users are actually interested in cloud gaming and Microsoft's cloud gaming marketshare would shrink significantly.

It's the best way to safeguard against future acquisitions running into the same problem. Because the CMA's current justification is that anything that strengthens Microsoft's cloud gaming lead should be prohibited. That spells doom for acquisitions big and small.

S SneakersSO What do you think Microsoft's move is should the deal fall apart? Do they try for another publisher? Do they go smaller? Do they just maintain what they have and build on it? Or, as some have doom and gloomed, does Microsoft consider selling off Xbox or dropping hardware and just focus on making games?

Yeah, I don't think they are going to end up focusing on console gaming and it's going to end up around cloud gaming and game subscriptions.

The ftc would have a much stronger case in those markets if they are able to successfully argue it is indeed a separate market.

The other question that I have is whether the FTC are just as focused on COD and its impact on cloud streaming and multi game subscription services as the CMA are.
At least I got this right but for the wrong regulator. Would expect the FTC to follow suit.

The Internet meme game is so fire right now. All the creativity of PS fans is coming out lol.

Just saw this.

They don't even get to buy Blizzard or King now. It's even worse for them at present.

it's so funny seeing the change from the 25 april when everyone was 100% sure here on twitter and the other place
but now i'm seeing the craziest conspiracy theories , there are some on that "place" saying this is a good SIGN and it means microsoft will easly beat the CMA with an appeal or they can just leave the uk

Pretty sure Pachter is trolling for views/clicks at this point.
No reasoned person could make those arguments.
it's not trolling but being pro deal gets him more likes and impressions
the power of hopium, that's why every post on twitter that says they will win the appeal or the deal will go through anyway gets alot of likes ( or it may just be bots)

It's not trolling, Wedbush is paid by Microsoft and suggests to their clients to invest in Microsoft. So basically he's acting as a salesman.
But total ignorance and stating absurd things like CMA changing their idea before EU makes their decision are only going to make him look like a fool.

Amazing, he has less than 50% success rate. People who flip a coin will have a better success rate over time than that fucking fraud.

How is he still employed? Who is still willing to pay him for his services? Why is he getting interviews in the media? He is clueless and incompetent.

Absolute nonsense drivel, does he have any semblance of how the CMA works? The due diligence on the ruling is extensive and took a long time, the decision hasn't just been signed off as an initial phase. It is final, any appeal is on new evidence or uncovered information which there is little to nothing to show.

I used to be a big fan of Pach Attack and then Pachter Factor. I was even a patreon on Pachter Factor because I enjoyed listening to his views on gaming and his discussion about whisky.

He started becoming very anti Sony last year. Bashing them for being greedy bastards for charging $70. I was OK with that. He became very pro merger and praised Phil Spencer and MS. I was OK with that. He finds every opportunity to snipe at Sony. I'm fine with that.

But I finally had enough when he said that Nintendo had every right to charge $70 for their games and it's ok to do so. So Sony is a greedy bastard for charging $70 for games but Nintendo is fine.

He also fails to bring up the fact that it was ATVI who started charging games at $70 a pop.

I don't like listening to people with bias.

Can you imagine if MS pulled out of the gaming market altogether. The CMA would have just made there be a monopoly in the market

He pretty accurate if you remember how to interpret his data.

What ever he says, flip it. Won't go far wrong

My favourite Pachter moment was when he said to Ryan Davis, on giantbomb's duke nukem themed thursday night throwdown, that Duke Nukem Forever wont be a COD level success for Gearbox because the franchise isnt that big any more, but it could be a Halo level one.
