It's not just destructive to services but it's also going to be destructive to developers, A smaller studio to Activision was more important than a smaller studio just using money at MS.It isn't just the price increase in a monthly subscription, it's also bad due to certain companies monopolizing other companies and eventually making games exclusive to their platform which weren't exclusive before. You either have to spend way more money to play a certain franchise that you love.... or you don't.
Regardless, it's a number of things. This isn't a good thing.
is the truth accept itAre mirrors that expensive?
I know inflation has been bad, but come on.
People told me there would be no meltdowns if merger go through...This industry will be effectively dead in 10 years at this rate. At least creatively, and these companies will be surprised at stagnating or depleting revenue even post-acquisition.
We're already somewhat seeing that with Microsoft's gaming revenue drop post-Zenimax.
At least you can sleep easy knowing that. Not a big deal the CMA has this deal dead. But shows the ftc was wasting time and resources on a bad case.
Ah. I see it now. It was covered by the page navigation arrows on mobile lol
That's a lot of bans!![]()
The mods will be busy once this decision is made

I'm looking forward to the next earnings call.COD has never made so much money as it is doing now.

Sonys not going out of business.Sony getting spent out of business doesn't harm consumers?
is the truth accept it
Also, as far as I'm aware (and correct me if I'm wrong) but precedents in the American judicial system are set during appeals. You think this case set that precedent?
my favorite is the account created nearly 20 years ago that was busted as a 'bot'The bans page is hilarious. Literally what I said about maturity playing out in real time.
nah, just a few more pubs going exclusive then we'll be there, i'm sure we'll get there by 2025Sonys not going out of business.
Bobby is staying.
No chance. Guarantee you Kottick runs Xbox sometime next gen.

It is absolutely bonkers that people are still saying the bolded part when it was revealed during the hearing that Phil Spencer tried everything he could to remove Minecraft from Playstation and it's only multiplatform because Mojang's agreement with NotchNow, we know MS has promised to put COD everywhere, and I do believe they intend to ship COD to as many platforms as possible as similar to Minecraft that will help them recoup the investment faster. That said, Sony talked numerous times about fearing a lesser version of COD being made for them and how MS/Xbox could do so on purpose, etc... (paraphrasing so its the gist of what they have openly said). However, they have also said they will not give Activision future dev kits for say the PS6 and they actually have not signed any deal with MS to date for COD. Is this not opening the door for Playstation to get the inferior versions just by virtue of their own actions?
Yeah it's one of the many reasons MS shouldn't be allowed to buy these major publishers. Sony is put in a difficult situation, where it doesn't really make sense to risk giving its private hardware/software secrets to its biggest competitor. Of course MS is free to keep making ps5 games, but i think it's pretty clear as with other MS acquisitions, that they want these games to be exclusive. Now, we know MS has promised to put COD everywhere, and I do believe they intend to ship COD to as many platforms as possible as similar to Minecraft that will help them recoup the investment faster. The bright side about this acquisition is that Activision management will inevitably change for the better because it cannot be worse.
I thought there'd be structural changes but this has been a roller coaster, the only result that was never really in play was no changesWhile you're still here, allow me to introduce you to the truth:

Sorry having impartial and rational discussions throughout the process has hurt you, it's just a shame you're too much of a coward to post on your main account.
Prepare to be disappointed. How many of all the IP's that Activision owns have they made games for recently? Very few so hopefully MSFT will be able to restart some of these dead franchises which is a big plus for gamers.

Sure thing PhilIncorrect
My belief is that they are now far too embroiled in woke culture as an organisation to ever let that happen, even if it would be obvious and necessary.
Long live Phil.
yes because Microsoft has been great about that with the IPs they already ownHow many of all the IP's that Activision owns have they made games for recently? Very few so hopefully MSFT will be able to restart some of these dead franchises which is a big plus for gamers.
Yeah about this CMA thing....Not a big deal the CMA has this deal dead. But shows the ftc was wasting time and resources on a bad case.
COD has never made so much money as it is doing now.
343 had rampant sexual abuse going on behind closed doors and a boss who turned a blind eye? Please do tell.343 shows it can get a lot worse
They aren't even remotely close to being a monopoly so that's a weak argument. Things have to be based in reality to work in court.Imagine trusting Microsoft of all companies to not be a dangerous monopoly…what a disgraceful result here.
Maybe there's a separate deal for it after some time. They did seem to be a marketing partner.
People will continue to buy it on PS.While it isn't on game pass. Kotick himself said it wouldn't make sense to put COD on there.

I missed that one
If you're being honest you can see the difference between gaas and games. That explains the situationYeah for sure man. It's just an investment. Like how Bethesda wasn't about making it exclusive at all.
Ybarra lies again. Shades of Nokia.Nope, looks like they had the information early.

probably, given redactions were already made it seems likely the judge alerted them last week meaning she made this decision in roughly a week even with there being a holiday last week, it's insane how quick she did this since this is only the 7th business day after closing arguments? someone else said these decisions usually take months and she maybe took a week for the biggest one ever
Still super curious WTF will come out of the CMA negotiations.
Just behavioral remedies or structural?
From what I understand MS has basically already said structural are off the table from the start.
Yeah combined revenue wise MS still hasn't caught up to Playstation as a whole. They aren't even remotely close to being a monopoly so that's a weak argument. Things have to be based in reality to work in court.
