I dont know any other popular brown actors. :(

I've got an early day tomorrow, my friends. To bed with me....I'll try to satisfy all expectations of a meltdowns tomorrow......after coffee.....and breakfast......and maybe a foot massage from the missus.

I don't think anything like closing is going to happen tomorrow because the temporary restraining order is still valid until midnight Friday.

Monday will be the first opportunity they have to close the deal but unless the 9th circuit have ruled and the situation with the CMA is resolved then it will be in spite of everything that's still ongoing.

CMA arent gods. They can change their mind depending on the deal offer.
Their main issue has always been cloud. If MS gives up cloud rights, that means CMA would be ok with this approach, because MS wont be in a strong position with this deal in the cloud sector.

Remember that CMA doesnt consider about console sector. Its only cloud concern that they blocked this deal.

The problem is they just reiterated that the current deal is blocked and no new remedies can be submitted.

They would accept a new restructured deal but that starts the investigation process over again.

Either the CMA is about to make themselves look like complete idiots or MS is closing over them and I have no idea what happens after that. My guess is on the latter happening.

Why didn't they do this from the jump? Too cocky/greedy? Or did they know they could always come back with this right away? I feel like this is like a worked shoot in wrestling
Because nobody thought they were gonna care about the cloud that much. There are like 5000 servers in the UK.

Corporation.
They wanted full cloud control. Got smacked and didnt want to lose that 3B, so they made this as last resort.

Even the 10 year deal plan was not fully fledged deal.

Selling cloud right is part of divesment, as MS wont have any control for cloud rights.

Think of it like spiderman. Sony owns the movie rights, while marvel owns the rest. Without Sony approval, Marvel cant make spiderman movies. Vice versa.

Guys like Bobby never want to quit. It's not in their blood.
I agree. CEOs like himself, bill gates, Steve jobs, Jeff besoz…. They are restless.

I think at some point it's not so much about the money for them as it is the kind of power they can wield in any industry they get involved in. Changes everything when you can operate in the world like that. Most of us would not be worth a billion dollars with a billion in out pockets. These people are industry building assets and that is their true value to the world. Who wouldn't pay any of those CEOs to run their company? They would make you 10 times richer within a year.

I think MS would be crazy if they don't keep him on as part of MS. People with his business acumen are highly valuable in the world. I think the Xbox management could learn a lot from him.

But that's assuming this deal goes through ( which I hope it does). Really has been hard to say, even though MS kicked the FTCs ass in court. I still wouldn't want to predict how this goes.

Someone else will probably handle it for them in the UK I imagine, rather than it not being available…
I feel there has been way more talks and discussions with the cma than we have been led on to believe, this is a huge deal a huge company with a lot of big people and huge money at stake here. And yea the cma tweets the tough stance they kinda have to do they don't seem weak or bullied.

Yes to gamepass, no to xcloud.

I still don't know how that would work. Having it on everybody else's cloud services in the U.K. except theirs? Maybe just no ABK games on any cloud service in the U.K.? I dunno.

I'm as curious as everybody else to know how that plays out. But clearly it's gonna be cloud related.

I feel like if they block Activision games from xcloud in the UK and this is somehow sufficient enough for the CMA to back off.. it will only be a matter of time before UK customers throw enough of a fit and they realize it's a very silly thing to get upset over in the first place.

I think xbox is giving up more than ABK cloud.

Potential theory, dont know if anyone who knows more about this stuff can say if it's plausible or not?

What if Microsoft's intention here actually ISN'T to close the deal this week. They've accepted it won't happen before July 18th because of the CMA block and Activision aren't willing to extend because of it.

However if they think/know they have a way to address the CMA's concerns as part of a new deal. And they can get the evidence this week that the FTC won't be able to block it. Then they can use this to try and convince Activision that their new offer WILL go through?

You seem to forget that we are consumers and gamers, as such we care about having access to more games and not less. So despite you trying to make it irrelevant, it is very relevant that Xbox is trying to destroy the gaming platform just because they are so bad at it and couldn't win. Yes, they want to make money, but what is in it for ME?
They are not destroying the platform. They are trying to become more competitive. And competition helps consumers.
And who knows. Maybe this deal will still fall through.

They said " small divestment"…..so we can't really know what to think. 🤷🏾‍♂️ One things for sure is that it relates to cloud, not console or the separation of activision. MS wants the whole of ABK or none of it. So I don't see them agreeing to what you might be suggesting.

CMA would look beyond pathetic if they cave. MS has spent the last 3 months calling them corrupt, incompetent, and basically telling every UK politician that'll listen that they're destroying the country's economy. Reward that kind of behavior and you've essentially allowed MS to write a guidebook for future companies on how to bully the CMA into submission when they're being difficult.

CMA's primary concern was cloud, they had no concerns with IP foreclosure. So whatever divestiture was offered (and if agreed) will indeed be focused on cloud in the UK market. I suggested the same thing a few days back and looks like they're thinking the same thing.

But this sounds like they will farm it off to a third party which means these games *MIGHT* still come on cloud on Xbox, all of this is speculation at the moment though.

Gaming is already being destroyed by mobile practices.
This merger takes it top notch and accelerate that destruction.

Agreed this has 100% to do with the cloud and future stuff no way ms walks away without all of activision

At the end of the day cma could still spin it like they won or did something concessions fines etc
