That's just the amount of time the judge gave them. CMA seems ready to close this ASAP.
Faster the better. MS unleashed their batch of Bethesda games on GP right after the deal officially closed.

The longer it takes, the longer I wont be able to play MW2 or MW3 with an ACR calling in pred missiles and choppers. lol

Haha nice. I have GP but this deal currently brings over nothing that I care about. I'm still making my way through Yakuza, currently on the last one right now.

Activision has been awfully quiet

I have no clue why they wouldn't just outright reject the deal after the 18th.

EA is currently trading at a higher valuation (48 vs 40 P/E). We are a far cry away from early 2022 when the deal was announced. ATVI is probably trading around fair market value.

In other words, Microsoft is getting a deal by not needing to pay a premium

I don't think there's any real chance that ABK walks away after the 18th but it would be crazy if they did.

US FTC eyes options after Microsoft/Activision loss, source says

WASHINGTON, July 17 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is considering its options after stinging losses last week in its bid to stop Microsoft's $69 billion deal to buy Activision, a source told Reuters on Monday amid expectations the agency's fight is nearing the end.

After a big loss last week in district court, the agency's remaining options are: pursue its fight in the internal FTC court; pursue its parallel case before the appeals court; pursue both; or settle with Microsoft or drop the matter entirely.

The source, who is familiar with the matter, declined to give any other details.

The acquisition could fundamentally reshape the console market by giving Microsoft access to Activision's programmers, who have pumped out hits like the "Call of Duty," "Diablo" and "World of Warcraft" series.

U.S. regulators, however, have said it could harm consumers by possibly limiting the reach of Activision's games.

Exactly why they were stupid not to just close on Saturday. How long will MS continue working with these buffoons?

You can probably knock at least 8% off the share price if they walk.

But yes, Activision is not a struggling company.

CMA in the first decision said that there is no way to fix the thing because it is difficult to supervise solutions in the future, the easiest thing is to block; For me it remains difficult for microsoft to reverse the CMA decision out of court
Of course, there is always the possibility of bribery

You guys think after all this Microsoft doesn't just offer a sweetener to make sure they get the extension.

This idea of them walking away now kinda seems like copium but this has been a wild ride so the most unlikely thing is probs what happens.

It's not copium for Activision to want a better deal after the 18th

They wouldn't be acting in the shareholders best interest

EA is trading much higher on valuations right now

And why do you think Microsoft would be so unwilling to give them a slightly better deal? Just because it was hard to get to this point? They are nearing the finish line.

Really the only thing that makes me suspect it could happen is that no deal extension has been mentioned in fact I think it's been confirmed no deal is in place. On top of that MS seems to be pushing hard to get this closed before the 18th. Even the CMA was trying to finish their end by tomorrow and the judge had to tell them to relax.

So true. Clearly everything that has transpired between the deal acceptance and now has proven how easy it will be to get this deal past the regulators. Not to mention suitors for $70b+ buyouts are just hanging on trees all over the place. :messenger_beaming:

Seriously though, I think the deal should have been easy to clear just because ABK doesn't represent a big enough piece of game publishing to matter, nor would any potential new owner of the content hold a percentage of game publishing after combining with ABK that would traditionally be viewed as monopolistic. But clearly the regulators don't share my opinions on this. LOL

FTC cant do tons right now though

Their internal court will take months to decide and has no power, it's only a recommendation.

The appeal will fail, it's incredibly hard to get 3 judges to side against 1 judge on the basis of that 1 judge applied the law wrong, especially after those 3 judges just slapped down FTC's motion for stay so easily and they need it to be a 2/3 decision.

They could appeal to the supreme court which would be fucking hilarious.

Activision ain't walking away for 2 reasons:

1 - Booby wants retirement already & parachute, dude has done it's job, saved Activision in 1991 from Bankruptcy, it was bought 500.000$ and it's being sold for 69B.

It's time to enjoy life, working is Trash.

2 - Parachutes to all the other Higher ups that Bobby likes 😂

Oh I misunderstood your post, but my point still stands. It makes absolutely no sense for Bobby to cut off and run with 3B at this point.

Why not?

If I have complete ownership of a company, a 5-10% premium over current market value is not worth it.

Unless Microsoft extends and buys at a much higher price per share than $95, I'd totally walk

Shareholders will be forced to liquidate all holdings for capital gains and relinquish control over the company

That's a bad deal

IMO for Bobby it makes the most sense for him to leave. He specifically said under oath he's only agreeing to this deal because of shareholders and his responsibility to them. I think that guy cares more about being a powerful CEO of one of the top gaming companies in the world more than he does about money. If MS has to rely on Bobby for this deal to continue past the 18th then I can see why they are going around begging everyone to be quick about their decisions.

Did Bobby tell you that? Don't be surprised if Bobby takes that 3 Billion and remain independent
