The day that will live in infamy. One should never forgive Sony for the $30 million they paid to take away Ballistix from the 7 people who played it.
Phil Spencer and Destin were two of them.

D DestinRL care to explain how as a professional journalist you took the revelation that ABK had threatened to remove CoD from Xbox if Microsoft didn't give them a higher cut as Sony trying to lock up exclusivity and actually put that out to the public? :pie_thinking:

Do people really not remember the 360 and PS3 years? How about the years of E3 where a game was shown with "Xbox console exclusive" and "Launches on Xbox"? Titanfall? They had the COD marketing deal for years. How did they lose it to Sony? Dead Rising 3?ES Oblivion originally only launched on Xbox and it wasn't until that anniversary version hit that Sony got it. They then "leveled the playing field" after their own bad investments by buying Bethesda and that still didn't work. This is their fault. There's countless examples of Xbox being what we called "money hats" because of how they did things.

Xbox started the console business by buying the rights for Halo when it was supposed to be a Mac game previously.

Stop acting like they were just lil ol MS was pushed into this. Their entire company history is based on EEE and buying up things, if not flat out stealing.

Here's why Xbox is in last place along with not utilizing their legacy studios:

The shills in the gaming media are truly embarrassing. I would say Sony need to step up, but the thought of more types like Destin's, Corden's or Warren's....

Square also likely wouldn't have made FF mainline titles PS exclusive if there was an actual audience for them on the Xbox.
Zenimax was looking for exclusive deals.
Making COD exclusive? I thought MS was afraid of ABK walking away if they did not agree to a deal for the percentage cut.

These guys try to hard to make MS look innocent LOL
yeah, there's other inaccuracies but the COD one was the most blatantly false portrayal because he's clearly trying to make it seem like Sony was somehow trying to make COD exclusive when they had nothing to do with that

funny how he leaves out all the exclusives Microsoft has gotten this gen (STALKER 2 among others) and we also found out that Microsoft has been locking games out of PS+, nothing listed as justifications for Xbox's shopping spree they haven't been doing themselves already

I'm surprised there has been no real news about the merger yet today. Maybe a free 3 Billion without selling anything is more enticing than I thought this morning.

It's pointless to walk away when they think they have even CMA in the bag with a XCloud divestement in the UK.
I guess they will extend until the end of August at the same $/share.
The biggest issue with the extension was negotiating a long one until 2024, that would have been unlikely but the developments with FTC and CMA have changed the scenario.
No one is going to cry for an extra month...unless Kotick lost confidence in the deal months ago and has an other buyer lined up offering more and with much less expected legal issues. But it's unlikely.

Is he one of the clown shoes (along with Wish store Shaggy) that said you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p unless you have a 50" screen or am I thinking of someone else? :messenger_weary:

Someone either wants more or wants out.
If it's the latter we won't get an announcement until the end of the day.
that one report said Microsoft is trying to get ABK to agree not to entertain other offers now that their original deal is expiring, it's kinda interesting that would even be a possibility
I think so to but I do find it weird that they still haven't got an extension signed. Maybe Activision does intend on waiting but wants to refrain from signing anymore deals so they have more control over when they can walk away.
could be they also want to see if anyone offers them more than $95 a share now and have the freedom to be able to walk away from Microsoft to take a better offer

MS is the only company in the world with "professional" journalists cheering them and working for them. it is bizarre, they have an army of fanboys on twitter and "journalists".

Professional journalist? This guy is nothing but a Xbox shill content creator, there's no journalism here, he's worthless.

Yea I saw someone mentioned that above and I could easily see that stopping ABK from signing anything. It's not in their best interest to agree to a document like that. Will anyone else step up? I doubt it but maybe ABK does know of some potential buyers if they don't want to agree to that.

Amazon is really the only company I could see do it, maybe Netflix but less likely IMO.

I think that's one area most people are more than happy for Microsoft to monopolise.

Microsoft would need to either offer them ridiculous premium on top of those 69 billions to make sure no one tops their offer or live in uncertainty that any second Amazon or Tencent can snatch the deal out of their hands. I like that move very much, very Kottick-like.

lol, because Microsoft hasn't been laying thousands of people off themselves lately either (and wouldn't be doing that after acquiring ABK with all the redundancies)

If I were an ABK employee, I'd honestly be pretty nervous. Between MS's hands-off approach, their poor utilization of contract labor, their ongoing layoffs, and their recent freeze on raises and bonuses, it would be pretty hard for me to see a bright side right now. I think a lot of people there just think "anyone but Bobby".

Democracy and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
Yes, for example an dictator ship like in Russia and China and North Korea is way better, the people are happy theyr and have a great life...when they stay low profile and dont say anything bad about theyr leaders. Thats much better then a Democracy....right???

I don't think the person you quoted is even capable of understanding how dumb that comment is, considering they thought it was a rational thought worth posting in the first place.

dang, thats a bit harsh. I guess the meme copypasta went over yall's heads?

Also, perhaps it stands to reason that there are other forms of government in between "democracy" and "dictatorship"? Sorry I said mean things about your sacred cow.

Anyways, it was a joke and I wont go any further to avoid bs derailing.

Honestly some of these people are so naive it's unreal. As if good guy Microsoft don't make layoffs and wont see many of the Activision Blizzard employees as surplus to requirements the moment this acquisition closes.

I'll be interested to see what happens to Actiblizz's current teams. Would Microsoft perhaps move people in from their current studios to fill in people cut from Actiblizz?

I did think you were serious. I apologize.

Considering how Xbox Games Studios have performed of late it should be the other way round, but I wouldn't bank on it.

And there is basically no history in which a Microsoft acquisition or even their friggin licenses last for more than a 10 year period without a steep decline from mismanagement. There were so many MS games studios releases from the late 90s-2000s that they absolutely squandered in due time. They've been doing this for 25 years.

Cracking Up Lol GIF

Never have I read so much crap lol. Either you're ignorant when it comes down to playstation or you turn a blind eye to it, but if you think "MS is the only company in the world" then you need to snap out fantasy and step into reality.
