Microsoft is increasing the price of Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass

I will add one more zinger then I'll stop.

When they said, "stop the spread," they meant wealth. ;)
Brochacho if we want to have the conversation about how I've lost all faith in my fellow 'countrymen' after COVID, and how we're lemming-walking our way to CCP-authoritarianism I'm all for it.

Nothing but whataboutisms from you. Tell me why you feel this is justified without mentioning sony. I'll wait.
Because all subscription services go up over time, just like everyhting goes up in price over time, thats inflation.
Now you tell me why its wrong for MS to do this?.

And you didnt answer my question of course.

That impending 3 billion dollar breakup fee isn't going to pay itself. (/s ... mostly).

I see the persecution complex by the usual suspects is on full display here, yet many of those same people were talking mad shit when Sony was doing price hikes last year. Now that Microsoft is doing the same, it's "okay, or "necessary", or "inflation", or "normal cost of business".

The only differentiating factor for Game Pass vs PS Plus is day one first party releases and there aren't enough of them per year to justify the cost differential. Better off to just buy the one or two first party games you're interested in outright. $120 retail for an annual PS Plus Premium vs the new $204 retail for an annual Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Unless you regularly use PC and Console Game Pass, with this price increase the value proposition has taken a significant dive.

In fact i remember that thread well and MS was actually getting more shit in that thread for NOT putting up the price of Xbox, than Sony was getting for the price hike.

:pie_roffles::pie_roffles:

You need to have your memory checked. That thread was chock full of people shitting on Sony and praising Microsoft.

"Microsoft hasn’t changed its Xbox Game Pass pricing since launching the subscription in 2017, and the company is keen to stress this isn’t related to its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. “These Game Pass price adjustments are not related to the Activision Blizzard deal, and are intended to match local market conditions,” says Perez."

I'm :messenger_tears_of_joy: cause its probably 100% true. My guess is this increase is due solely to Starfield and Forza. if they add a 70-80 billions dollar catalogue the price will go up again I bet.
IF they aquire Ac/Bliz and they put games like COD and diablo on GP... the price will go up and it won't be a couple dollars.

Why is always MS though that gets the shit?. Were you just as passionate when Sony announced the PS5 price hike?.

It will be the same thing when Sony inevitably puts up its sub plans.
What kind of browsing with blinders on is this?

Sony literally had a 33 page thread with people double speaking like a wish.com Phil Spencer in this one compared to prior, all while performing mental gymnastics that would make a special olympian jealous.

Need I remind you how the Forza "always online" thread barely gained traction, with it being a ghost down from the most ardent warriors that brought the GT7 one to 10 pages before mods shut it down?

What question? About Sony doing it? I honestly can't remember what or if I said anything. My post history is open though if you want to look through since it matters so much to you. Inflation? That affects us peons. MS and other megacorporations are still making record bank.

Oh come on, businesses arent fucking charities. Honestly some of you are losing rational thought because its involving Xbox.
Well its the same on this forum. 'Fuck the consumer, whatever is best for the 'The Company' is best'.
Well dont defend it then. You dont have to attack your fave comapny if you dont want to, just dont fucking defend it. Just for once some of you look at this from our perspective, the consumer, not billionaire companies.
Well when i read the OP i was actually going to defend Sony a touch, for similar reasons you just said, although still a shitty move, but after reading the absolute bile in this thread, fuck em.

And my point was more how many people on this forum take their fave billionaire companies side, and never the consumer, you know us.

They are still expensive here yes but they are finally starting to get better.
what is better? not getting more expensive at a rapid rate? they haven't gone down in price anywhere.

Last i checked i wasn't getting paid more because of it either.

It’s actually very easy to hold a consistent point of view for most people.

I’d suggest it’s easier for you to paint people in broad strokes so you can make hypothetical arguments.

Here’s my contribution the PS5 price rise thread:

Absolute cunts. Knew it was coming. Glad I got the DE at £359.

WTF and as usual it’s the US who avoids this despite the EU keeping the whole company afloat in the PS3 era? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

You really think inflation is hitting them at a cost of £30/€50 PER UNIT!? :messenger_tears_of_joy: Harder daddy.

Increase their profit margins? :messenger_tears_of_joy: Fucking hell Pan, a new low. Poor multinational Sony with their TV division, radio division, mobile phone division, streaming services division, £10 uplift in game fees and now £30 increase in hardware costs. However will those little paupers cope?

Since you are obsessed with bringing MS in to this, why are Nintendo keeping prices the same?

9% price increases? I’ve asked this question before, are Sony that concerned about the cost of living crisis that they’ve increased all of their staff’s pay by 9%?

That’s a lot of waffle.

Maybe Sony should look at replicating some of Nintendo’s methods instead of spending millions of pounds on artists to design Abbie’s 5 o’clock stubble.

Ok? Do you think that most people know what TMSC stands for? Fucking hell man get a grip of yourself. You can free yourself from Sony’s rectum yet still enjoy their games. It’s not too late.

Microsoft allow you to buy digitally from other regions as well and then you can redeem the codes through a free VPN on your browser while logged in to your main account. It leads to games like Elden Ring costing £24 on release day for Xbox. They really don’t want to put themselves in this corner as the market isn’t as loyal as they think. As soon as TeS 6 or Avowed starts getting rave reviews people will happily look the other way, like they did with the 360.

To add to the price argument as well, not only have Nintendo confirmed no price increase but their games are £35 on launch day in the UK.

Oh I’m used to companies being greedy cunts, don’t worry.

Satoru Iwata slashed his pay by 50% during the Wii U disaster and other Nintendo directors took pay cuts between 20% and 30%.

Maybe Jim should offer to do this himself considering he understands the consumer impact of the current global situation?

Even on the PS blog, the overwhelming majority of comments are slating Sony for this. GAF just has a few militant corpo posters.

And here’s me to tell you that it’s arguably worse that Microsoft have followed in their footsteps, considering that Microsoft can easily subsidise game development costs in comparison to Sony.

Flashless at the Golden Globes
It's pretty obvious to anyone following the streaming services that the business model is not sustainable. Disney lost billions on it last year. Netflix actually had ads in one of their plans which is insane considering tv is literally fucking free and is subsidized by ads.

Good luck to microsoft, but I am just not seeing how they remain profitable at even $11 a month. they will need to double it to $20 and reduce costs at the same time.

They want to be, "the Netflix of gaming," after all.

Ah who cares!?! Both series s and x are selling like hot cakes and this price increase is acceptable because it’s made by the most transparent and authentic console manufacturer and they are always confident about their line up of games for any given year. I will be damned if I ever doubt Phil spencer’s góspel about gaming and how they revolve around the gamer.

Now comes the part of the program where once again I ask....why isn't there an annual sub for Game Pass?

Or should I say annual sub discount.

And how did MS getting rid of annual subs for Gold just fly under the radar? You can't get annual Gold subs from the console or MS website. And most 3rd party retailers are selling four 3 months codes at a discount.
