Microsoft is increasing the prices of Xbox Series consoles in the US... again.

Explain how they lost it???

Xbox One: 58 million consoles sold

Xbox Series: 33 million consoles sold (Already dead)

LOL
No- Phil said they lost the generation cause most people purchased games digitally on PS4 then stuck to PS5 and moved their library across. What I'm saying is, why does a digital library matter when Xbox doesn't give a fuck about OWNING digital games when they allow you to rent over 200 games on gamepass?

@KeplerL2 recently said Xbox consoles were being sold at a slight profit. Seems to me like the days of subsidized consoles are coming to an end.

I really have no complaints about the Series X, it's been rock solid and especially great for playing indies or less demanding games on a 4K TV, as well as certain titles that are console-targeted like Elden Ring. I bought it early in the release cycle when it was $500 or whatever and have no regrets.

Probably the worst side effect for a platform holder, a shot in the foot with a shotgun.

I have bought all my consoles at launch this gen and all the previous ones since PS3 in 2007
I remember getting the Gamecube, the Switch, and the PS5 at launch, and then the Series X within the 1st year.
At this point if you want a Series console, you really must have a specific reason.

Wild to live at a time where the best price is buying it at launch, rather than waiting like a lot of us have over the decades. I hate this timeline, this shit sucks. I mean, at least games are still dropping, but watch that change too, lol.

"Sir nobody is buying our consoles. We're quickly becoming the laughing stock of the industry."
"Excellent, increase prices on all Xbox Series consoles"
"W... what?"
"Fuck it, blame Trump. Tarifs. Macroeconomics. Whatever."

What is this strategy called?

Agreed, having options is terrible!

I absolutely hate it if I go to the store and they let me choose between almost 20 types of pizza. I'd much prefer it if they simply forced the Magherita upon me.

Real numbers, I'd honestly be surprised if they have sold through even 20 million SX and S worldwide.

The hardware is awesome. Everything else surrounding the brand has been the issue.

Again, the Xbox One wasn't being sold at a loss by late 2018, I think people are just throwing this around while not further analyzing why it's that.
Sure, the next Xbox will probably not be subsidized, but that's more related to the their third-party storefront support strategy.

Uh....ok. Just passing on what he said. And yeah, me saying subsidies "coming to an end" mainly applies to next gen.

Well, they were not selling good before the first increase so I expect it to be even worse now.

Wow....
UK is (or was) their second biggest market. You barely even see Xbox hardware on the shelves in stores like GAME these days. I see Series X consoles on Facebook Marketplace going for sub £150 all the time.

Microsoft is such a software powerhouse. Xbox is better off joing that.
They'll be far better off doing away with hardware.

You're not quite grasping what I'm saying- if a digital library is so detrimental to why losing the previous generation then having gamepass negates that, surely? I mean, you get a pretty substantial library for a fee monthly. Why own games when you can rent them? Isn't that what Micro$oft want? Why would it matter if you have a PS4 digital library when for only a very small fee you can rent over 200 games monthly on the opposition console?

Yes they lost the console race last gen but gamepass was meant to save them. It failed miserably.
