Yes, which is still selling units. Are they selling great? No. But they are still buyers out there for Xboxes. They are selling the same number of the Switch 1 in the US

By the way...has someone checked on what SuperTimDog has to say?
It will likely be above $1000 if it does support Steam and Epic.Microsoft doesn't care about its own consoles anymore and instead of taking some steps to fight the tariffs they'll just set insane prices in the US (and raise them if needed) and slowly sell the current stock in other part of the world.
It will be the same if they'll follow with the plan to release another traditional console. I won't be surprised if it's close to 1000$ and becomes extremely niche hardware, even more than the Xbox Ally.
Microsoft total price increases since launch:
Series S: 33%
Series S 1TB: 29%
Series X: 30%
Series X 2TB: 33%
Why do Sony fans still console war? What do you have to prove still?Sony total price increases since launch:

PS5 DE: 25%
PS5 Pro: 7%

I guess it makes sense since they sell more and get the money back faster.
Why MS mind increased the price 1 time and by done with it? They should have increase the prices 30% and done.Well we're back again to Series X being $100 more than the PS5!
$650 for a Series X is wild.
2 seperate price increases in a 4 month span. Totalling a 30% increase in cost.
Just discontinue it lol.
The Switch 2 is $450
Is this US only? Related to tariffs?
Believe it or not, this actually works for the right product. It's not the same but I will say it anyway, it was about 2004 when our CEO saw some scanning software in a convention and brought the idea of making a new scanning software but sell it for a fraction (250 bucks instead of 1500 or something like that). We built it, we released it, and literally sold a few hundred copies only. So he considered what happened and raised the price to $999 because "it was too cheap and wasn't taken as seriously". Man, CEOs have some odd takes.
Remember that MS has that dumb proprietary storage. So 1 TB is like $150 retail anyways for it.Why not just cancel the 2TB version. $150 more just to get an extra TB of storage?

If someone wants to have a lot of crap installed and has to have an Xbox, 2TB makes some sense.
It shouldn't be $150 more though since a 3rd party retail MSRP for 1TB externally packaged drive is that.
Bwtween the "graphics don't matter" crowd and graphically unimpressive art this gen, it may be the last gen ever needed.Generation might last longer than expected.
I'm holding on to my Xbox Series X as a kind of investment.
The difference is the only reason why walled gardens are allowed. If you become a multimedia device then you are in risk of having other company's stores open on your device against your will. No walled garden = no console, basically. Why doesn't Microsoft( and I guess the other companies) make representation that these consoles could fall under whatever category smartphones are which AFAIK have some kind of exemption? They all have GPUS, CPUs, RAM and other bits and bobs. If its about the end-use, there's nothing mandating that someone has to use an iPhone specifically as a phone. Dare I suggest its phone capabilities are probably secondary functions for many people now? Fuck, I haven't actually taken a 'phone call' in months; most people I speak to now either do so via voice-chat or video chat, and most of my 'phone' usage is using it as a web browser, playing the odd phone game, YouTube, watching movies etc.
These devices are all essentially multi-function media devices now. What is it specifically about gaming 'consoles' that subject them to these tariffs in a say that, for example, the new iphones or other exempt electronics don't? The PS5 and Series go beyond the function of just being 'gaming devices', and have done so since the 7th gen.
Sorry, early morning rant and I could be completely off-base.
Kinda agree with you, but isn't 1TB of that proprietary external storage more than $150?Why not just cancel the 2TB version. $150 more just to get an extra TB of storage?
I thought a multimedia device was literally defined by its name, the ability to serve as a means to use multiple forms of media. You're saying it's moreso whether the device has its own walled garden or is open to other storefronts beyond its remit? So what's the reason for something like the iphone having an exemption but not the PS5 or Xbox consoles? They're all walled garden devices or am I completely misunderstanding you?The difference is the only reason why walled gardens are allowed. If you become a multimedia device then you are in risk of having other company's stores open on your device against your will. No walled garden = no console, basically.

(honestly have no idea, it was ridiculously expensive not so long time ago)
The Seagate expansion card was outrageously priced when it came out, but ( unsurprisingly) when WD brought out theirs the prices came down bit. Funny how competition works lol....still the PS5 had the better solution for your wallet going with non-proprietary storage.Kinda agree with you, but isn't 1TB of that proprietary external storage more than $150?

they keep fighting a losing fight, rumors of PS6 having a simpler desing to keep costs down is exactly what this industry and ecosystem needs.

100 percent. Evey move they make is glorious wisdom to them. They will come around if Xbox does go full party and tell us what a great idea it is. They just move the message to fit the current situation.
Not sure what point you're trying to make. The PS4 was RARELY $200, meanwhile the xbox one was consistently $200 throughout the year. And way back you'd get consoles dumped down $100, and last gen google says ps4 was down to $200 on a hot deal.
Now, prices are going up! Lol.
But good for early adopters looking to sell. During COVID and people amped up buying consoles I sold my One X with a second game pad and some cruddy GP kinds of games for $450! Lol…. Ya it includes all these games man. Fallout 4, Mass Effect 3….
Why not just cancel the 2TB version. $150 more just to get an extra TB of storage?
Yes this has been my thought process. They just want a presence in the market but dont really care about how well it does. They are just gunning for the whales and anyone else can just leave and buy their games on whatever system they want.Microsoft doesn't care about its own consoles anymore and instead of taking some steps to fight the tariffs they'll just set insane prices in the US (and raise them if needed) and slowly sell the current stock in other part of the world.

Did you see what Tim Cook gave Trump?!? Wouldn't surprise me if they had some other "backdoor" deals like Kawhi and the Clippers.

I thought Sony sorted this out be exporting to the US from Vietnam. No idea about Nintendo thoughSo if consoles aren't covered by tariffs exemptions anyone expects Switch 2 and another PS5 price increases in US in the next ~6 months?
