Microsoft lays off 3% of workforce. Not sure about gaming division yet

"Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2025 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $70.1 billion in revenue and a net income of $25.8 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 13 percent, and net income has increased by 18 percent. Microsoft was expected to report $68.42 billion in revenue, so the results have beaten Wall Street expectations."

Looks like A.I is finally starting to bite into our jobs. Remember this time period. We were there to witness the start of the human job decimation by A.I.

Why are people assuming AI is the reason? Article clearly says:
CNBC reported that Microsoft had 228,000 employees as of June 2024, and is aiming to reduce management layers across all its teams. Approximately 6,000 employees are affected.
Not that layoffs are ever good, but they're reducing middle management, not developers.

The stock market today for MS doesn't seem to how to react...it's all over the place. After reading this i expected it to go up a bit.
(started investing like a year ago and still trying to understand this)

Amid increase in profits and revenue, they decided to fire almost 7000 workers.
I swear CEOs, including Satya, are complete sociopaths.

Gotta keep subsidizing Gamepass.

All kidding aside, I can think of several of individuals who getting laid off would free up a ton of cash.

I wont name names, but their names do rhyme with Spill Phencer, Batt Mooty, Barah Sond, Karon Spleanberg

Man ain't it great when your favorite corporation just posted positive news on financial growth.

Hardware pride and fandom, amirite?

I am sure there will be some helpful person explaining to us how a megacorp can post good financial news and then start laying off people. How it's ultimately a good thing. I am reserving how I feel about this news until that person speaks.

Cause, yah know, they made that one product you loved in the past and now must be defended.

It's never enough for megacorps.

No job security if the company doesn't meet its targets.

No job security if the company exceeds its targets.

The I.T field is extremely fucked.

And still firing 7,000 employees. They are disgusting.

You sure it's just the IT field?

I've never heard of other fields having the kind of multi-thousand layoffs that IT seems to have annually. Google, Amazon, Dell etc all have laid of thousands of employees in the last 12 months.
