Microsoft Q4/FY25 Report Highlights (Services +13%, Xbox Hardware -22%, Gaming Revenue +10%)

Become irrelevant in hardware?
Kinda GIF

Historically, this year is likely the best year for Game Pass. Many first-party titles were added to the service, along with a game that is a clear Game of the Year contender (Clair Obscur).
Eh? This post makes absolutely zero sense.

This year hasn't finshed yet. COD for starters.

I want to see if Microsoft will reveal sub numbers again after COD.

Every indication so far should mean stronger uptake of the sub service tbh.

That's what happens when you actually selll software on platforms where consumers buy games :messenger_smirking:

GG satya.
Literally dragged his Gaming team by the hair to the money.

COD was well recieved last year and a big deal was made out of it going to GP. I don't think this years will have anywhere near the same impact, if indeed it did do numbers last year of course.

If you're not a shareholder and you think this is good for the platform, you are an idiot. the money will go into pockets not game development.

Canceling the Initiative freed up a ton of money I see.
What a waste. If I was in charge I would make that developer pay all the money back in hard labor working telephone customer service.

edit-343 is on bathroom clean up dooty.

Double digit growth in just about every department, nice.

Whew, I was afraid MS would be forced to fire thousands more employees after a bad quarter, but with profits like these everyone's jobs at MS are now safe and secure!

Serious question : why "nice" ? Do you have any stocks invested in them ?
I get that this topic has to do with statistics but again, why do you care and why "nice" ? It's a multi-billion company man, they don't need your sympathy nor your approval, just your money.

Net Income $25.8 Billion +18%

You know.....if every employee takes a small pay cut, we may be able to squeeze out another .2 billion to make it a nice even $26 billion.

Nintendo's Earnings report is on Friday August 1st and Playstation's is on Thursday August 7th. My quick hardware predictions: Switch: 0.9m, Switch 2: 5.4m and PS5: 2.7m.

The Xbox Content and Services growth can be attributed to the 16% hike in Gamepass prices compared to last year no? Mild churn there if anything.
Not sure. Price increased in July 2024.
Did you take into account the new MSRPs for the Series consoles? I think this is the quarter where they went into effect.
Yup, that happened in May. This is ending June 30th.

This is kinda awkward after the job cuts.

But this looks like easy money, I bought a couple stocks last week, 7% up at the after market. I'll sell when it opens up if I can get a game for the earnings.

Wasn't that the announcement? I thought the actual hike took effect in September. But if this report's data ends June 30th, either way that price hike applies change in the numbers.

Edit: Ah. I stand corrected Mr Moose Mr Moose . Defaulted to quarterly thinking.

Definitely expected, they are comparing to a quarter in which the only game they released was Hellblade 2, versus this year with Oblivion and PS5 ports. If Hardware was flat we probably would've seen 20%+ gaming revenue growth.
