Gold Journalism
They declared console has reached saturation because their console sales keep declining. Sour grapes and all. Otherwise, there is always room for growth. They also declared console has reached saturation, and PC Game Pass is their biggest growth potential. I suspect that's part of why they are de-prioritising their console hardware while talking about their next-gen being the biggest technical leap ever:
For example, Sony onboarded 30% new users (who never used a PS4) and that, too, at the start of the generation. That number would have only increased by now.
30% of PS5 users are new users and never got a PS4. USA PS5 share compared to peers has "expanded significantly"
The fact that roughly 10M of all PS5 users are new is a huge deal. We always talk about how early adapters are people that are already inside an ecosystem, these numbers far exceed my expectations. No wonder Sony is expecting big sales for this quarter now that production issues are not there...

Sony already had the dominant marketshare. For Xbox, this potential audience group would have been much higher.
That's what they want people to believe now. But they clearly were expecting to outsell PlayStation at the start of this generation, back in 2020.they're clearly not expecting to sell 100 million Xboxes anymore.
