MS already won by getting both Nintendo and Sony to fully abandon esoteric HW for modified consumer PC HW.Can't wait for Phil's praetorian guard to tell us that MS is playing 4D Chess and they are actually winning.
For starters, not many people are going to be buying The Dark Ages, if the initial commercial performance of Eternal is any indication.Outside of Halo and Doom those games don't really have all that much in common and it's not super likely that many people are going to be buying all of them.
Summertime Halo and Gears?Halo/Gears in the summertime lull is a good release window
I’m a bit puzzled by this. We’ve never seen such a high number of major IPs flooding the market in such a short time. What’s especially unusual is that Microsoft’s goal—to expand their audience and maximise revenue—could actually backfire with this approach.
Most players won’t buy Age of Empires, Halo, Indiana Jones, Doom, and Forza all at once; there’s simply not enough time to play them, so they won’t pay full price upfront. On top of that, releasing everything so close together could split the PlayStation userbase, making it harder for these games to build a strong community.
How can any of this work if all these games are launching at the same time?
most players aren’t going to buy all those games, period.Most players won’t buy Age of Empires, Halo, Indiana Jones, Doom, and Forza all at once;
Kind of crazy how many of us pointed out that Phil Spencer's oddly timed interview was going to have pretty immediate ramifications.
It was only 10 days ago that Phil had his interview and since then Microsoft has announced 3 games (Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empire, and Age of Mythology) for PS5; and this was after the developer direct where 4 of the 5 games shown were coming to PS5, including Doom and Ninja Gaiden 4 which are published by Microsoft.
I think we can expect we're going to hear a lot more in the coming days and weeks.
Microsoft wants to maximize revenue, it’s clear Spencer got the order from Nadella to recoup ABK acquisition as soon as possible. Indiana Jones and Age of Enpires do not have necessarily the same user base, even if they do you would still be competing with all the other new games by staggering releases. So in the exec of execs the best thing is to release all asap to maximize release window revenue, then be strategic with sales for the long tail. Nowadays at least on PC sales are nowhere where they have been 2-3 years ago, publishers got smart. BG3 never dropped below 45€ on Steam AFAIK.How can any of this work if all these games are launching at the same time?
Xbox fans are like the Japanese holdouts - soldiers who, stranded on remote islands after World War II, continued fighting for years, unaware that the war had ended.Xbox has no games!!!
Xbox has too many games!!!
We want Xbox games on our PS!!!
Ok well not that many!!!
Can't wait for Phil's praetorian guard to tell us that MS is playing 4D Chess and they are actually winning.
I remember there was some research which showed that PlayStation users are highly affluent, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Well….. as long as they are making money I guess they are. Can't wait for Phil's praetorian guard to tell us that MS is playing 4D Chess and they are actually winning.
Spiderman 2 sold over 11 million copies on ps5 as reported mid this year, most likely sold a few million since then. Steams sales and reviews are irrelevant.Probably gonna fair better than those abysmal Spiderman reviews on steam eitheway….. I mean…. If this is all about money and survival……![]()
Indy needs to come out ASAP to help its sales
Doom is just a day and date lunch
Forza is different enough to attract a certain audience
Don’t see the issue
Halo/Gears in the summertime lull is a good release window
Oh yeah I can definitely see an EA Play type app launching. MS are gone balls deep in making their money back. But they'd be wise to wait a while so many ps5 players choose to buy them instead.Maybe they are planning to launch a first party Gamepass variant on PS and need a critical mass of compelling content.
A bit of a stretch to list cod and Minecraft as Xbox games considering they were loved on PS before Microsoft bought. Sea of thieves is a better example.Between COD, halo, gears, dorza horizon 5, minecraft…. I feel like MS are gonna lock up player engagement on PS.
Turns out, People loved Xbox games more all along…… interesting times we are in for sure. But I’m actually glad to see it happen in a weird way.
And yet Sony wee not happy with those numbers. 11 million sound like a lot to me or you for sure but we ain’t the ones who had to foot the bill, nor are we the share holders saying…”this wasn’t enough”….. we are just people with joypads who gear the words 11 million and get amazed. Typical gamers, who don’t know better about the cost of these things.Spiderman 2 sold over 11 million copies on ps5 as reported mid this year, most likely sold a few million since then. A lot of the games they are releasing are relatively old. I think this might be the better way to do it, and have the sales build over time.I’m a bit puzzled by this. Anyone saying Xbox has no games in XB Series era is simply not a gamer.Between COD, halo, gears, dorza horizon 5, minecraft…. I feel like MS are gonna lock up player engagement on PS.

If they did they’d have bought an Xbox already.
And yet people say it. Wish the platform gone……. Curse out and disrespect the people who own Xbox’s…many of them on These very threads.Anyone saying Xbox has no games in XB Series era is simply not a gamer.
Still stuck in XBox One vs PS4 mentality.Loving Xbox games and hating MS is an actual thing tho….. we all know the reason peope never bought Xbox by the tens of millions seas MS bad management. But that ever stopped gears, halo, forza etc from being hood games. That will be obvious when they dominate PS charts.

Sony get 30% pure profit and MS get 70% return towards their 70BN etc etc.Simple question……if spend money on any of those games right now…… who gets the money? Who owns those studios?……
Ah yes…. Because the GAF poll says what gamers en masses are feeling….. can we just be done now?Halo and Gears were only good during the 360 days
Our poll shows Halo MCC could do well, but there’s little interest for Halo Infinite or anything else after Reach.

I’m calm you know…… I got 50 reply’s over one comment. But I’m the one who’s triggered? Really? …. You are SERIOUSLY gaslighting bruh! Please
You really need to go calm down for a bit, bitterness seems to be pouring out of you right now.
Your 70% is gonna go towards paying off marketing costs and dev costs leaving you with a much smaller share. In the end Sony may end up making more profit from ms gamesCool…. I know I’d rather be getting 70% in the situation that’s about to go down Than The 30…. Plus money of subs on my own platform. Then another 70 off Nintendo.
