Microsoft Taunts Sony: 'Bring it On'

It's funny (and pointless too) that so many people are arguing over something so stupid as competitors having 'challenge' words towards another.

I don't doubt that M$ stands a greater chance of success this generation but I was M$ I wouldn't act so cocky after showcasing one turd after another. Good lord, the Xbox 360 line-up looks atrocious.

OK I get it.....Allard totally fucked your wife, right? Or pulled out in front of you at a stoplight?

Batshit insane applies.

If Sony did the job they "needed" to do, then the 360 would not have the developer support they have, and many would not be looking forward to the 360. Sony has not caused large numbers of people to not buy a 360. Again, I contend Sony's biggest challenge is to keep MS from gaining any marketshare. As it stands now, Sony is simply not capable of doing this.
I'd give more credit to MS succeeding here than Sony failing. Sony has seemingly secured some of their major staples tho like MGS & DMC. Probably GTA as well.

Exactly...thre are more games to go around. SONY is doing quite well with 3rd parties, thank you.

The marketshare is Sony's to lose with a viable competitor, especially when they control such an overwhelming portion of it. That's like saying the Nintendo handhelds won't lose marketshare to PSP, it's just not possible just by the presence of serious contenders in the market. I think MS isn't Sony's only worry either as Nintendo looks poised to make some gains too, especially in Japan, which wouldn't be MS expense.

Still Sony's playing their cards right and locking up the key exclusives they can. Keeping FF and GTA on PS3 and a few other key titles is really all they need to do. If they really were playing hardball though they wouldn't have let Winning Eleven get away. Not to mention they've had much better showings than MS and have a much more robust and varied catalog of titles to draw from to get people interested, Warhawk just being one example. Also that new WipeOut makes me happy inside. It's just really a question of what and when and how much of a start they give MS and if they actually make that Spring date. The more time they give MS to get ahead the harder it'll be for them but I expect them to drop a bomb before 360 launch or they'll have really dropped the ball.

There's nothing Sony can do about companies giving the 360 support early on. But what they can do is get even more support which is what they're doing. Their TGS Japanese game list is absolutely packed. That's the type of moves they need to make and they're doing it.

:lol :lol :lol

I don't think I've ever seen such a ridiculous statement, and that's saying alot. You're now taking the fanboy wars and trying to apply it to corporate strategy?

It reminds me of the Seinfeld where George is working for the Yankees, and says he thinks they can sign Ken Griffey and two other superstars and "not have to give up too much" :lol :lol

Microsoft is going to gain marketshare. Sony's job is not to kill the competetion. Their job is to make a great product / business and insure it's future. Apple used to have a 90% MP3 market share and it's fallen to 80%. So, is Apple failing to do "their job" in that industry?

In every market, there is a settling of market share, and no company can have 100%, 90% or even 80% if they have competitors that are determined to be in that market. Look at Nike, Coke, whatever.

For all the mudslinging Microsoft does, you'd think they might get good at it eventually. Xbox 1.5 is a wonderfully cruel soundbite, if somewhat lacking in originality. "where are teh ventilation holes guys?!?!" is not.

"Microsoft is going to gain marketshare. Sony's job is not to kill them competetion. Their job is to make a great product / business and insure it's future"
... oh come on, you know what i'm going to say, i don't even need to type it.

In the end, no ones gonna go into a MGS4 thread and say "lol vents"

whereas someone will go into a pd0 thread and say "lol 1.5"

microsoft needs to work on their trolling, perhaps they need to browse gaf a little more.

Yes, a once character typo is worthy of such a dumb ass post. You seem to be working overtime these days. I'm glad you're refreshed for the days ahead.

I'm just messing around, sonycowboy. You have some of the best grammar and spelling on this board.

It works both ways. I still think it's ridiculous the reason people are arguing here.

Yeah, i guess that's the reason why MS was desperately falling all over themselve's to release 360 first, especially since XBox was released 1 1/2 years AFTER PS2.

Is it really more ugly compared to Xbox and Gamecube? I don't think so ;) The black one looks great IMO.

Yes. And no, it doesn't. It looks like a george foreman grill. Sony can seriously do better than that.

he should have trolled the controller instead :/

What's really worse, trying to act OVER confident in face of what Sony has shown OR trying to push off competition that you dont know anything about. MS is having a rough time combating boomerangs and innovative remotes

MS is still smarting over that "XBox 1.5" comment. Every interview I've seen or heard with MS in the past few months it is brought up. Still, the mudslinging is juvenille, and gives off an impression they are scared.

No need to be boastful if the games speak for themselves. Oh wait ... ;)

No it doesn't! Sony changed the design at Playstation meeting; the top was less curvy than before. GC and Xbox are the worst designed console ever IMO.

That would've been better. Although someone mentioned in another thread that Phil said they'll have a big surprise about the PS3 controller at their February show. So that design has likely been dropped (which would explain why anytime a PS3 game has been demoed by a developer its been done with a Dual Shock 2). All they should do is change the R2 and L2 buttons to triggers. Keep that basic design and change the R2 and L2 buttons to triggers.

they need a spokesman with more wit

I mean, christ , when Kutaragi had a dig at them about "oh, it always takes them 3 attempts to get it right , just like their OS'es" they should have been

"Well, yeah... but you know what happens the 3rd time when we get it totally right? we DOMINATE that particular market... start packing your bags now bitch, in 8-10 years you'll be valleting my 58 cars for $5 an hour"

... i mean, how hard can it be? ;)

Joking aside - both sides do talk smack, it's just that the MS smack is RETARDEDLY missinformed at the moment.

Seriously, if you are going to have someone talk about this , they need to either be coached or at least know what the current situtation is.

Hmm. Harrison has always said it's a concept design, but I don't think he said anything specifically about the Feb show. A different SCE exec said they'd be doing something with the Feb show that would surprising gamers.

There are some serious rumors about a google OS

Hey Marc can you find any pictures of the vents the PS2 has/had? Obviously I'm at work so I can't compare... but that looks like a shitload more # of vents(which it should be).

The entire erea under the disc tray and next to the usb ports is solid vents.

Edit: Sorry, thought I was at the end of the thread.

Oops it wasn't mentioned to be at the February show. In the "Some PS3 tidbits (Feb public even is off)" someone posted that Phil said in the G4 TGS special that they have a surprise coming about the controller.

Ah, interesting. That'll learn me for taking my eye off my own threads ;) Would be cool if there was a direct quote, but sounds like it should be somewhat different from that shown sofar.
