Microsoft's currrent Full First-Party Organisation is mind boggling

Xbox is like a resource-rich country that doesn't have the knowledge/infrastructure to capitalize on any of it.

To simplify, imagine making a thread fawning over the ridiculous amounts of precious metals in the Congo (Xbox) as if it will change the fortunes of it's citizens (Xbox gamers).

Call of Duty is not doing +90 metacritic since Modern Warfare (OG) and nobody seems to care
CoD suffers from Madden syndrome. There are groups of players that literally play a single game, and whether it's good or bad they buy it every single year because that's what all their friends play and it's the only thing they're interested in playing. I mean, it's insane to me, but they exist. Until something comes along that challenges the status quo, there's no reason to invest in innovation.

and the idiot, who managed to lose worse than last gen while spending infinitely more, is in control of all that.
what can go wrong.

But also...Microsoft is worth 2.52 trillion. They're strategies never work though.

So… if Nvidia decided to start producing music and they wanted to become the world's n1 music producer, it would just work?

Or if Apple decided to make a car, they would become the n1 car maker in the world.

Or maybe if Alphabet decided to enter into the videogame business, they would become the n1 video game maker in the world.

Show me which other non productivity service/software division, has MS spent 20 years trying to turn into the number 1 of its market and succeeded. Or show me how they have an history of success in the entertainment segment.

Isn't your argument just… pointless? Money is everything is your argument. Man how do you keep putting out these takes? And you consider yourself an insightful guy too, I mean after all you have created the formula to successful gaas games…

pretty crazy that they went from like 5 studios during the bone era.

now all those studios are great BUT they really need someone to manage those studios as there is no reason to have a single drought period.

This trailer would've broken the internet in 2012.
Nintendo be like:

George Michael Freedom Trailer Check This Out GIF by George Michael

Microsoft *bought* a lot of studios

They can't even manage their original studios, just more studios that will become irrelevant

I'm skeptical that the Xbox division that struggles to manage a few thousand employees effectively will magically be able to manage 22 thousand employees with great success.

Retaining as many employees (at the new studios) as possible will help.

This is just blatant straw manning.

Never did I say "Money is everything". But to act like money isn't super f***ing helpful, especially in an industry as expensive as this, is just foolish.

Gears 4-5, Forza Horizon games are also pretty good. Sunset Overdrive and Sea of Thieves, Hi Fi Rush. Just tell that you don't own a xbox. At least not in a last decade.
Gears 4 is totally crap. 5 is good. Forza Horizon is their gem. Sea of Thieves is beyond crap there is not even a game there. Hi Fi is an indie.

But that is just so few since Kinect. Since 2011 great games for Xbox u can count in 2 hands(considering all fh entries separate to help)

I think Microsoft will do the impossible, create a Call of Duty that is such a pile of shit that even the people who only play CoD will say "Fuck this!" and stop playing it.

Grounded is pretty much the best game of its kind. It slaps so damn hard I have been playing it for more than a year.

Oh, and most games could only wish to have the writing and brains of Pentiment.

Could be double. Their problem is management and a lack of vision. Even worse, once they aquaire quality seems to suffer in order to fit the series S and GP.

The response and release of Forza, Redfall, and Starfield speak volumes and a slick info graphics doesn't change the lack of quality, management, or vision.

Seeing how these studios are going to be managed the next couple of years once their current pipelines are done is going to be interesting to say the least.

And they are getting rid of the only guy in their grasp with the capability to effectively organise such a behemoth.

Good job.

I'm torn on whether id want him to stick around, but yes he would be good at the job..

Maybe they are currently working on negotiations to retain his employment?

Plenty of time between now and end of year.

Grounded I tried it once on my own. I think you would have to play it with others to have fun. But I have also heard from many that it is supposed to be good.

Pentiment is too german :D and not a fan of this artstyle.

I didn't like gears 1-3. I don't know why but from part 4 i started to like Gears. Sea of Thives is really good game, but it can be brutal if you play alone. It also has a lot of good content now. Hi Fi Rush didn't feel like a indie game to me at all. More like a polished AA game.

This means literally nothing lol

Activision quality is basically non existent, it's a Cod factory.

I mean they've alot of people but ask how it's going on Embracer 😂

Yep. Every unit of that massive organization will have performance targets too, and if they fail to reach them... all bets are off.

Its pretty alarming if you consider that all those studios are now going to live or die based on the future growth of GamePass. Because the revenue from that is what's basically got to provide the revenue to keep everything afloat.

I see the Microsoft insults are being updated today!

Was "It's just Halo, Gears, Forza"

Then they bought some of studios and started releasing some of those games and it became "Microsoft can't do anything except buy its way to success"

Looks like the new one is "It doesn't matter how many studios they have, their terrible management is going to destroy them all"

Wonder what the next ones will be?

Yeah, I don't think Grounded would have been as fun if I had to play it alone. Me and my friend have been playing together and it's the game where co-op really shines. Mostly we do things together, especially when exploring new areas, but purely for resource gathering and other stuff we separate and do our stuff on the different parts of the map. Anyway, the game's main genius is its map. Just perfect open world design. Also, no hand holding at all but it is never frustrating.

And without the doubt Pentiment is not for everybody but I'm so glad it exists.

Good job.
Its not like Bobby was the sole person managing every single aspect of all of their projects.
CEOs dont really "organise", they steer the directions/vision. Managing/organizing is a team effort, below his pay grade. No way is he planning sprints, managing product backlogs and such.

He is just the guy at the top, those "lead" and make major decisions, close to zero organizing happens directly there.

COD is trash these days, and does people still play world of warcraft? Does Microsoft bring the title to consoles now?

COD is still a behemoth, but it's been getting stomped by Fortnite for years now. Fortnite also has a younger player base and is essentially the zeitgeist multiplayer game of today.

COD has peaked on console in my opinion. Activision knows it, and are resorting to baiting players with nostalgia to keep them engaged. The core player base is getting older (2005-2015 generation of gamers) and I don't see it growing outside of mobile.

Well if 10-15 years from now and they say screw it and become fully exclusive. They can and more likely be successful. Be like Nintendo then. You will truly have to buy there consoles or games pass then to play them games. You more likely will cause that just so many different games that could be made. Still say Nintendo on top of that.
