Mighty No. 9 |OT| The Blue Bomba

Is saving busted in the DRM free version? I played a few stages earlier, closed the game through the menu, and when I came back nothing was there. I'm looking through all the menus and see no mention of needing to manually save.

Saving works fine for me in the DRM free version. I finished the opening level, unlocked a few EX challenges and quite out earlier. Just loaded the game back up and it saved my progress.

EDIT: meant DRM free version.

Well, I accidentally filled out the backer survey for the PSN version twice(didn't know I had two digital versions, and they poorly explained that during the backer process), so if one of my friends doesn't want the code I'll probably give it away here.

I have sold it.

GAF told me about this Kickstarter. I hate you GAF.

GAF bought my copy in the end and told me of Stardew Valley. I love you GAF.

I love you too!

Game looks like ass but it's fun enough so far (intro level). The cutscenes are beyond terrible. I feel as if the game was made on a shoestring budget.

The main human guy leading you is named Dr. White.

DR. WHITE!!!

I'll take it if no one wants it....:D if you don't plan on doing like a giveaway or anything that is lol

Looks nice

So what is there to hate of the dash mechanic? Beat Intro stage, and I honestly use it about the same way I used Dash in MMX back in the day.

Isn't "doing something else after your basic shots" basically the same idea as Gunvolt? Rhythmically, it somewhat reminds me of weakening with shots, and then finishing off with sword, Zero style.

I expected the graphics to look worse really (like to be able to see more poly's when up close), but it's actually fairly smooth looking. I think it'd feel more "SNES like" if the intro stage played the president's message in the BG as you walked along, rather than forcing a stop to watch the minimally-animated video.

Random Chunks of ground falling definitely feels like an MMX 1 throwback, I have no problem with this.

This menu with the characters sitting on it feels like something out a game like Gotcha Force. I've no problem with that, as I love that game.

Hmmm, does anyone use the "action shift" backjumps? Nice to see them there as an option, will make use of them next stage.

Been watching various streamers on Twitch and it looks pretty fun to me, are the Ps4 and Wii U versions identical in terms of loading?

Hilarious Op btw

I'm glad you're getting your kicks. It's probably easier if you didn't put $60 and 3 years of watching/waiting into it. I may still play it down the road when it's like $5 and I have more spending money than I do lately. My username is in the credits somewhere, after all.

I have higher hopes for my remaining backed Kickstarters: Cosmic Star Heroine, Yooka-Laylee, and Bloodstained.

Same thing for me, not happy.

Looks like it. Busted for me too. Both 64-bit and 32-bit versions.

Weird. Saving is working fine for me in the DRM free version. Dunno if it matters but I have it installed to my D drive and not my C drive. Also running on Windows 10. Don't know what version (32 or 64) as I only had the one .exe to download.

same, im thinking we have to wait for the store to update or something idk
Yeah probably, I went back to the email and it alluded to that, but then again I bought a PSN code for Prison Architect a week+ ago, redeemed and downloaded it and that game doesn't come out until next week, so who knows.

When does the 3DS version come out? Is there any evidence it exists? After seeing that concept art compared to the new trailer, I am really curious how the 3DS version looks since it prob had to be developed separately.

I'd be up for another giveaway, I didn't back up the game but as a Mega Man fan I was going to pick this up soon... The thing is that the game seems to have turned out shit :(

Playing in Pyro's stage, the Dash actually seems like it's well implemented. People gave the impression that having infinite dash broke any semblance of challenge in the game... that doesn't feel true to me.
  • You do descend a bit with each dash, so it's not a straight line to "win".
  • The stages are designed for it, but also designed for oldschool Rhythm. Dashing is just the expected modern-day gaming Band-Aid.
  • Noone ever mentioned this, but I like the bit of stretch he does when he dashes. Has 2D personality to it.
  • I never dash longer than I want; it feels snappy, and Dash chaining has that feel of "Just one more!" to it, which I like.
  • The Absorption box has a wide hitbox, which pairs well with the idea it's a speed-up. I don't want something overly-precise when I'm bolting about.

The backjump and backjump shots also come in handy. Back-shot is nice for pelting enemies that are off a platform, that need to hit for Xel absorption. They also have a bit of startup invulnerability, and the Pyro fight seems to suggest for me to USE IT, because normal turn-and-jump reactions aren't cutting it against him. (His explosion radius is pretty wide!)

--tried again---

Naaa, the backjump isn't much use there, just early dashing out of danger.

I can't tell if *Ice* was *Fire's* weakness. I miss the later MMX where the graphic effect for hitting with weaknesses was pronounced (and changed some of the bosses attacks). But maybe that wasn't his weakness... *shrug* I did get something like a "Finest Action!" bonus or something, but I can't find a description of what that means exactly, even under the "tips" menu.

I know this isn't the narrative people want after everything. After the delays, the problems, the art... everyone wants to see this come out and bomb. And it probably will.

...but I also just spent the last two hours playing it, well after I should have gone to bed, and I think I was smiling the whole time. I've been staying positive about this game the whole time, but was still coming in with tempered expectations, and... this game is pretty great. The first time I found a boss weakness was absolutely gleeful. It lacks polish, but the magic is still there.

It's not going to change the world, but it's a good and solid action platformer. More of a Mega Man 4 or 5 than a 2, 3, or 9. I've finished four levels so far, and I've definitely struggled through certain parts, usually because I was trying to go too fast instead of taking some time to learn the layouts, but it's never felt cheap.

This game is great, guys. If you backed it, give it a shot instead of immediately writing it off. If you don't like it, then at least you gave it a fair try, and if you do like it... tell a friend. Because this game, like the original Mega Man, is a great game with some rough edges. I really hope we get to see the well polished sequel.

Edit: Playing the Steam version.

lol, I requested a backer key of the WiiU version with the idea that'd atleast run decently.

Apparently the EU WiiU codes aren't sent out yet, but now I wonder if I should even bother :/
Do the other versions have less problems or is all around messy?

Hm, may have spoke too soon on weaknesses. When clicking on a stage, A defeated robot master might make a comment under "Advice" when selecting the stage. I'm assuming this means "USE ME, I'M THEIR WEAKNESS!", and it's a fun way to suggest that.

Guess I have at least 1 more stage run in me at the moment! -Dives in-

I will be doing no such thing. Seems like you did a fine job.

I actually gave it up like a half year ago. I didn't realize my name was still on it.

I suspect that the codes for the backers were sent so late due to the publishing deal with Deep Silver.

That said, as angry as the backers have been(justifiably for the most part), and as not-good as the game seems to be according to reviews, can you imagine what would have happened if the codes had gone out before the reviews? The internet might have been full of
angry backer reviews and impressions, only to be followed by the poor to middling critic reviews. Poor reception from the folks who backed it to me would signal the worst kind of bomba, as the backers were typically diehards of the genre who at one time really wanted the game to succeed(and if they don't like it, who will?).

At any rate, as someone who never backed the game and only plans to get it on a really deep discount down the line(PSN sale?), I've gotten so much entertainment out of following this boondoggle, and I'm interested in seeing what happens now that the game is out in the wild.

Finally something positive. I've been playing the DRM-free version and have been having fun. It's a little difficult for me but I've always found Megaman games difficult anyway. I thought the lighting effects in the power plant stage were kinda cool. (Still not up to the concept art but eh, I'm past caring about that now.)

Yup, advice was definitely "I'M THE WEAKNESS, LET ME HURT THEM!" sign. And of course, Pyro also helped throughout Bat's stage, taking out stage hazards, similar to turning off the power in a stage by defeating an electric master in MMX series. (I do remember seeing this in earlier previews, but it's been a while.)

The increase in damage VS the boss felt nice.

I have to say Pyro's stage (my 3rd boss clear) felt like where the speed-run and prepping-for-the-next-screen feel has started to click for me. You're not suppose to destroy every box and barrel as soon as you see them, and you're not suppose to kill every room full of enemies without and thought. If you want the combos for higher scores, you need to have a method to your madness. I can see the special weapons being useful for that.

So far, I feel like the normal buster is all you need to win, but the extra-power stuff is what you need to excel. I also am liking the dash mechanic, because it feels like a way of fusing Enemy attacking and power-ups into 1 smooth mechanic, rather than having to double back after a kill to pick up a capsule that dropped. Why not make the kill and power-up one in the same?

Oh, and a random thought: The "PewPewPEW!" sound and stuff people hated... I mean, the robots are suppose to be out of their mind. I don't think it's bad within context (The Rogue masters are basically insane before you free them by not-murdering them), but I don't think the context is hammered home enough, either. I'd love to see them have a few sparks, and for them to flick back to their proper personalities for brief moments before you free them. As it is now, the shift in tone isn't as obvious, and I find this to lessen the impact of the situations.

PSN codes don't normally work before the store updates later in the day. I'm surprised so many are having issues with this; only a few things release early on the store.

This is why I'm happy I went with Xbox One version, as their games usually release either at 12:00 AM the day of, or a few hours past that. I had no problems redeeming all 3 content codes as soon as I saw them in my mail.

I will note that the achievement art is pretty plain though. Which is a REAL shame, as I'd like to have the concept art anr a nice background to use for my Xbox Desktop tied to beating each boss. There are 70 frickin' achievements though, so maybe a few of the "secret" ones hide some actual quality artwork, rather than just HD zoom-ins of trophy-style icons.

I have to agree with several people above. At the end of the day, the game itself is fun to play. I found myself getting used to the graphics quickly and have enjoyed the couple of stages I’ve played so far. I guess it is not for everyone but I do like it :)

You're not the only one. Every Steam backer has this problem.
Oh good its not just me.

It's absolutely amazing how badly everything about this game has been fucked up. You would think after all the delays they would have everything ready to go but damn.

Also anyone ever get anything about Physical rewards? I've pretty much given up at this point but didn't know if anyone ever got an email about it or what not.
