Looks like you were forced to use windows to get it right.

I actually got some work done on my mega harvester! Ooh la la!

The vine harvester is my first non-piston powered section... Vines will not grow past to cover piston blocks! :(

Also, you may see some trees around!

What do you guys need 200fps for? Can your monitor even refresh that fast? :\

The human eye can't even perceive much above 12 individual images per second. 4 times that is probably safe from jerky motion.

I'd rather go with quality if I'm hitting that on max fps. Max fps to me is if your hardware is deficient.

The human eye "speed" doesn't correspond with FPS. It's all about contrast. You eyes are seeing changes in brightness --- and extremely fast. For instance, in a movie running at 1000 fps and displaying all white frames except one that is black, you will notice it.

However, the movement becomes extremely natural around 60fps. It's where the "smoothness" reaches its max. Well, max that the brain cares for.

Did you try making sticky pistons that hold blocks that vines grow on?

What I meant is that 10-12 is the limit of what your mind can perceive as individual distinct images. Past that, they start to blur into each other in such a way that we see it at motion.

It sounds like from Twitter that Notch and company are asking people to help test the ender fight (I assume the ender
dragon
fight?), in multiplayer. If anyone tries it out, I'm curious to know how it goes!

wtf. They were supposed to be releasing an actual version not another pre release. Come the fuck on Mojang. Tired of waiting for 1.9.

At this point it's clear the next version will be the release version, next friday.

Well, yeah, they've been saying that for weeks now that the next actual release will be Minecraft 1.0 at MineCon.

Very much liking the new sounds, with the exception of the eating sound - maybe I just need to get used to it, but it just sounds weird to me.

Can't wait to get home and try it. As annoying as it was, I actually kind of liked having to add switches to my doors for the last update, I may leave most of them and replace the wooden doors with iron.

Nestled in the hills near the world tree on Gafland is the Overlook keep:

There's also a seedy hidden underbelly that requires a keen eye, a keen ear, and quick reflexes to get to.

I finally caved and bought the game. TOTALLY worth it. I built a shitty house (first out of wood, then stone), dug so far into the earth I thought I would land in a lake of lava, and explored a few natural caverns. Minecraft is amazing.

Having watched the entire YogsCast It's Better Together video series ... have they gotten worse at this game?!?!

They were never any good at it from the get go! Watched a few of those a bit ago. Seems like they are losing interest. Lots of cheating to get by obstacles.

Holy shit that is awesome! Great work, very epic looking. I can't wait to get over there and see it in person.

They are really quite bad at games it seems (or they are good actors).

It really annoyed me, way more than it should, what they did in the last video.

I can't wait until NeoCraft is updated! Until that time Skyrim has my soul.

Nah, I'll still play a bit of Minecraft this week too. Skyrim is excellent, but I miss digging in the depths...

Yes, and I understand they were sick/leaving for the U.S. for the BF3 event soon so they didn't have a lot of time to dick around ... but still, they could have just waited until they came back and did it proper.

You can do that in Skyrim :p but yeah, great news.

Judging by the server player number logs, it looks like everyone is enjoying all the AAA titles coming out this holiday season! Myself included :p

Nope. Still playing HatFortress 2. (I'm too poor/cheap to afford shiny new games)

Huh? It's just him admitting that it's something that slipped through the cracks and wasn't able to be implemented before MineCon. He's not stating how much of a priority it is or not.

Personally, I'm much happier that they spent the time fixing all the bugs and performance issues.
I agree, it's great that they focused on bugs and performance issues. Notch's quote:

One thing that kind of fell between chairs is the mod support.. Sorry about that, I take full responsibility for letting that get forgotten about.
He apologized for it, there are ALREADY a ton of mods for Minecraft, and it sounds like he didn't rule out possible future support, right? No worries. :)

My only issue is that hes been working on mod support for the better part of a year at least. Shame it couldnt get done. Seems like they managed their time poorly over the summer.

It almost seems like an excuse to be honest.

Also it'll be good to see what his next game is. It's very unlikely it'll be shown at Minecon right?

It would be nice if he were to ditch Java but that wont happen.

Yep, mod support is coming, both him and Jeb have said it before. It just wasn't a priority for the final "gold" version of the game. I both understand and agree with that, seeing how current modders seem to have zero problem making mods anyway.

So it was like 2 days of bug fixing for pre-release 6?

Does this means that most bugs aren't fixed and only some major ones? This smell likes an awfully short fixing time.

They finally picked a release date, plus they have a con, so they kinda have to stick to it no matter how short a time it might have been since the last patch. Presumably there may be post-release patches as well.
