Yeah as long as Rumble makes weight and comes in ready this will probably be the best Fight Night card ever.

Its better than a few of last year's PPVs IMO.

Absolutely. Even with Tito involved it was a great card for a Fight Night (and let's face it, he's as big a name as you'll find in a free show). Now it's arguably better than the PPV in Australia.

Rogerio's fight just got significantly harder. Dammit.

Also apparently Anderson has admitted that he exaggerated in the fight against Maia and that he should've fought with a more serious attitude. He says he hopes to retire as a MW and see Maia as the champion as he thinks he's very talented, though lacking experience.

We'll see in his next fights, but I'm not sure if he's being sincere or if he's trying to redeem himself since his popularity in Brazil is going through the roof right now (and MMA in general, which is about fucking time and makes me very happy).

Yeah when I was at 126 I noticed a SHITLOAD of Brazilians there. The Silva vs Belfort fight really piqued their interest. From what I've gathered, MMA has always had this taboo kind of quality to it in Brazil probably because it stems from the really ugly Vale Tudo fights that the country has had from before the UFC even started with Gary Goodridge kicking and punching people in the balls and shit.

But yeah, MMA seems to be getting a whole lot more popular in Brazil than it has been historically whIch means the event in Rio will most likely do some great business.

That's part of it, but not the whole story, it's deeper than that, if I have time, I'll go through it sometime and try to summarize and explain it if anyone is interested.

The Brazilian event will be a sell out and like the Australia, England events will end up being a yearly fixtures which is good for the business imo. Asian markets will be next Japan or China, I think Dubai was a bit of a failure though.

Be nice to see how Brazil handles a big international event with them having the Olympics and all coming up.

lol watching Big Stan. Couture is in it.

anyone know if that Smashing Machine movie/doc is any good?

Ohhhh god yes. Fuckin amazing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the event will sell out, I know a couple of people that are gonna go no matter what the price. I just hope they make it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, cost of living in Brazil is cheaper than most other countries the UFC has had events in. I can actually see Brazil getting 1-2 events a year if everything goes according to plan.

I also don't know if Japan or China will be next, I think Dana mentioned Mexico and that wouldn't surprise me. I think all those 3 countries will welcome the UFC though, they'd have to fuck up real hard to not have a success there. In Japan put Wand vs Akyiama and Okami vs Anderson for the belt and you're good, in Mexico put Cain Velasquez, Tito Ortiz and Leonard Garcia and you're good. I guess they'd have to be a little more flexible in China, put some big names there as well as some up and coming Chinese MMA fighters.

Also, I don't think Dubai was a failure, what makes you say that?

Seemed to be a lot of empty seats to me in Dubai. Not sure what they where charging. Looked like lots of ex pats (white people) as well.

Japan will be before China just because of the amount of Japanese fighters in the UFC at the moment. will they wait till they start winning (LULZ!) though before going over?.

Think there is only one Chinese fighter in the UFC currently (brought over from WEC). Dana needs to get a few guys and see if they can get on a bit of a streak then exploit it. China and Brazil are huge emerging markets and the sooner they can get in there the better. Korea is also a possibility. I wouldn't mind watching a lot of the under card fights from these countries if they where full of locals. Mexico should be a sure thing but I don't know shit about how to Mexicans feel about Mexican Americans ala Cane?. It will sell though Mexico Vs America has to be a damn money maker match up.

No Davis at 129?

Dana: "lol psych!"

Cane is Brazilian, unless you mean Cain? I'm not sure either, but I think they love him over there, or maybe I'm confusing him being popular with Mexican-Americans.

And I think Japan would be very easy for the UFC, even though the Japanese fighters are struggling right now in the UFC, they're still pretty popular over there, as is Wand, Big Nog, CC and Rampage.

Just going from memory I believe it was reported that the attendance sucked (and of course the PPV buys, but that isn't new) and that the UFC was just really disappointed by the whole thing. So much so that now we have the privilege of having 128 over here when it was originally planned to be there. Yoink!

Another rumor from Middleeasy.com :
Another report from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix states that Vadim Finkelstein approached Alistair Overeem only to be met with a 'Get the [expletive] away from me' from Alistair.

Jason David Frank (the green power ranger) got in a fight backstage at an MMA event
"Multiple sources told TheCageDoor.net that words were exchanged between Frank and the worker in charge of collecting the gloves from the fighters after each fight. According to our sources, the Legacy employee was looking to get the gloves back from one of Franks fighters and after asking several times with no results, he told Frank “C’mon man, Jesus didn’t steal gloves.”

“It’s always a problem getting the gloves back from those guys. I guess he didn’t like my comment so he got in my face,” the 22 year old Legacy employee told TheCageDoor.net via phone.

“I left to go walk the next fighters out and when I come back in, right when I entered the locker room he was right there in my face. He was about an inch away from me. He’s a big guy and I weigh about 150 pounds. I put my hand up in front of me and said, hey man your like twice my size.

As I looked away I saw his fist coming so I clinched up and then he popped me a few more times.”

According to the employee, one of the punches caused his tooth to pierce his lip and required several stitches. He also said that he filed a police report following the altercation.

Frank told TheCageDoor.net via phone that the issue arose after one of his fighter’s gloves came up missing and he was accused of taking the gloves even though he didn’t have them. After words were exchanged between Frank and the employee, Frank said he warned the employee not to touch him several times.

“He bumped his chest out, put his hands on me and that’s when I defended myself,” Frank said of the altercation.

Rumors from Mirko Cro Cop's camp insists that '2011 will be his year' and that Mirko will do better in 2011 than he did in 2006. Massive claims.
I really promised myself I wouldn't let myself get hyped up for a Cro Cop fight again but I WANT TO BELIEVE.

Fuck yeah. Alistair is the man.

First off, that Jason David Frank thing reads like a fucking Onion article. "Jesus didn't steal gloves"? REALLY?

I think it's referencing his "Jesus didn't tap" tattoo.

I guess it's a test for Brilz...but I don't think I'd call Vladdy vs anyone a solid matchup in 2011.

Yeah...call me a casual fan if you want, but I really really don't give a shit about that matchup. One old wrestler vs an even older one! IMO it's worse than every 128 prelim, aside from the Dan Miller matchup.

Speaking of which, the 128 prelims could by themselves be better than most fight night cards.

Light Heavyweight bout: Luiz Cane vs. Karlos Vemola
Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza vs. Anthony Njokuani
Welterweight bout: Ricardo Almeida vs. Mike Pyle
Lightweight bout: Kurt Pellegrino vs. Gleison Tibau
Bantamweight bout: Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian Loveland
Featherweight bout: Manvel Gamburyan vs. Raphael Assunção
Middleweight bout: Dan Miller vs. Nick Catone

I just tried the UFC Undisputed 2010 demo .. my first experience with the series. I was really impressed by the production value of it. They really have every aspect of a UFC event covered. And the fighting seemed fun too. The only problem is that I'm not a fighting game guy and I hate having to memorize moves and combos but I might have to make an exception for this. Anyone in this thread have the game?

I still found that line to be funny.

“C’mon man, Jesus didn’t steal gloves.”

I hope the truth eventually comes out, but in the mean time, reading the comments is pretty enjoyable.

I don't know whether this is true or not, but there does seem to be much hate/dislike for him in the Houston MMA scene.
I've attended the majority of events in Houston over the last few years, but missed this one due to work.

When is Crocops next UFC fight?

IMO they should have a battle of the broken hearts event. Crocop vs Fedor. Arlovski vs Liddell. Baroni vs Tim Sylvia.
Cro Cop is fighting Brendan Shaub at 128 (March 19th)

^ And I'm gonna see it live! Can't wait. :)

Between Jones, Cro Cop, Faber, Gamburyan, and Barboza, I think I'm in for a great experience.

Just if you enjoy it and if its worth picking up. (it is only $20ish now so how bad could it be right?)

Hah. It would be awesome if Coker was like "Strikeforce Grand Prix Take Two - now with Fedor vs Chad Griggs!"

He's 3-1 in the UFC and his only loss is to Bones.

I remember Vlad getting KO'd by Arlovski in the UFC if memory serves me right and i'm sure that is does ;p

It's nice to see that he's doing decently in the UFC now aside from his loss to Bones. I mean look at Arlovski now, dude has a chin of glass.

He's 6-3 in the UFC with his 3 losses to Jon Jones, Andrei Arlovski and most notably Tito Ortiz at the infamous UFC 33 event.

Allow me to be the first in line to say that I'm completely shocked, taken aback, and 100% surprised that Josh Barnett is going to end up ruining this tournament. Truly, who could have ever forseen such a thing? Scott Coker would have needed to be a wizard sleuth to devine such a future for his promotion.

Or he could have just been paying fucking attention. Why do we have alternates again? Dump Barnett, realize you should have never called him in the first place, and put in whatever alternate wants to step up.

I know im LTTP but the K1 youtube channel has full fights from the K-1 GRAND PRIX Series '93 to '99
