Cespedes should have been playing right last year, but supposedly he was too much of a diva to do it. If they could actually make him play right, sure, but otherwise trade him (while signing Lester to complete the circle).

People seem to overvalue him defensively.

I wouldn't say he is bad. Killer arm, probably a perfect fit for LF if he isn't dealt. Problem is we have about a thousand outfielders who are worse than he is on defense.

He has a career sample size of 22 games against the AL East in the regular season. If you subtract the games against Boston he's played 18 games and has 67 plate appearances against the AL East.

You can't derive any sort of conclusion from a sample of 67 plate appearances.

I would imagine so. His natural position is 2B and he is very athletic. I'm not really thrilled with his play in the outfield though, but again he doesn't have much experience of any kind.

They are signings that are very hard to be mad at. Without pitching? A bit of a waste, but as weak as this year's free agents are, next year is just as barren.

I think this team knows that a top prospect is going to be dealt for some pitcher.

The Seager deal is fantastic. He sort of flys under the radar but $14 million a year for the prime years of a guy coming off a nearly 6 WAR season. Even if he regresses a little he should easily exceed the value of that contract.

They’re trying to bring back Jon Lester, and while on Sunday, two National League general managers said they heard it was close to happening, Lester’s agents still has not heard from the Yankees. The plan is to visit St. Louis the week after Thanksgiving, then perhaps decide at the end of that week before the winter meetings convene in San Diego. Then there are several trade and free agent plans for the possibility of Lester leaving. There are trade and free agent plans for at least one more starting pitcher, even the thought of Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda.
