Dodgers going after Lester?
It's the perfect combination!one ace to dominate the reg season, one ace to dominate the yoffs...
makes sense
Should I be happy about the Jays' addition of Michael Saunders?
If he stay healthy, why not?
Dodgers going after Lester?
Rosenthal cosigns the report
I hope Pablo can pitch haha
Happ costs more next season so the value proposition wasn't there so much anymore
I guess he ended up being better than expected so the Jays got some trade value out of him
It's the perfect combination!
Fair enough
But is Saunders any good?
That's where the rebuilt bullpen comes in! Friedman is a genius! But Lester also falters in the late innings!
Mariners fans are really pissed off about the trade, that's generally a good sign for your team.
He is definitely better than Happ.
He just needs to stay healthy ... but a lot of his health issues is from him slamming into walls and what not making catches etc ...
Turf isn't going to help him out any ... but he should be decent for you guys.
Markakis for four years. yuck.
Could be worse. Could have been RasmusMarkakis for four years. yuck.
If reports are true that the Dodgers have entered the mix (WEEI.com reported it first) and the Angels are lurking, then Lester is likely going to exceed $25 million a year.
It’s plausible he would exceed the $144 million over six years that Dodgers righty Zack Greinke received. Though there’s no confirmation of a Dodgers offer, they are the biggest payroll team in the game and in need of one more starting pitcher.
Jon Lester remains the top priority, but Cole Hamels, Johnny Cueto, and Jeff Samardzija are among the options for the Red Sox.
New president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is going from the frugal Rays to the spending Dodgers. But he’s seen enough of Lester over the years in the American League East to know a money pitcher when he sees one. And with Cy Young and MVP winner Clayton Kershaw not performing so well in the postseason, Lester provides a guy who has built the reputation of being a money pitcher in the postseason.
The Angels certainly have a need for a front-line starter, but have indicated publicly that they would not get into the big name pitching game. We’ll see
@JeffPassan: Sources: Clubs being told Chase Headley has a four-year offer for ~$65M. @JonHeymanCBS says Marlins interested. Unclear if that's the team.
Welp, see ya Headley. Guess this means the Yankees are going to play Prado at third and have Refsnyder and Pierla battle it out for the second base starting job. I'm okay with that.Headley got a 4yr deal
I am guessing that Plouffe will not be made available until the trading deadline, assuming Sano comes up and sticks around then. I like him, though. He's a good player. It's too bad he's stuck on a team with King Shit Head Torii Hunter.Looks like the Giants are going to have to trade for someone at the hot corner. David Freese? Trevor Plouffe would be a nice pick up.
Fair enough

Damn every team is making moves except the Giants. We're doomed next year.

Look up a few posts brah.He was a 2 win OFer in limited playing time last season. His upside is probably about 3 wins, he also costs peanuts for this year and next year which makes him even more valuable.
In other news Vice of all places has an article up about the rather intriguing situation with the next big thing out of Cuba, Yoan Moncada.
I'm sure your next post will be "we signed Lester for $225m and can't sign anyone else? We're doomed next year!"
Oh no. How terrible.Damn every team is making moves except the Giants. We're doomed next year.

Does losing players count as making moves?
I have hope every year! We might make it to the Wild Card this time!I know, it's not like the Dodgers failing regardless of odd or even year!
It does if it works out down the road!
Pablo Sandoval hopefully goes MVP level and the tears flow.
I fully expect Markakis and Cruz to go in the tank.

You want a player on a division rival to win MVP? OkI fully expect Markakis and Cruz to go in the tank.
