@JeffPassan: Now that Jon Lester has signed with the Cubs, the likelihood that David Ross and Jonny Gomes end up in Chicago increases significantly.
Go Cubbies!
Sox Fans acting like the Cubs gave THAT much more than them. An extra 2.5 mil a year is really nothing.
Yeah it is and its 3.3
Henry and company are going to get killed tomorrow
Yeah it is and its 3.3
I don't see why.
People like Lester more than them.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Cubs go after Shields.
That's alright, we'll have Hunter Strickland as our 4th starter and a closer. It doesn't make sense.
Who wouldn't want to win WS rings in 2015-2020?Everybody is going to the cubbies.
So Scherzer, Shields or possibly Price to Red Sox now.
Whoever Boston grabs, Cubs will likely throw money at the other two
Now that Jon Lester is not going to the Giants, it's believed the Giants will now shift their attention to acquiring Justin Upton and Chris Johnson from the Braves.
Shields Maddon connection is huge.I see Masterson as more likely.
I'm actually probably optimistic about where we're heading in 2015.
Lester to the Cubs. 6yrs/$155m
Red Sox offer was 6yrs/$135m
Giants offer was 7yrs/$168m
200+. Whoever needs pitching better call the Mets. We have a few guys available. If that's how much Lester got I can only imagine what Schezer is going to get.
Cubs are really putting everything on the line to finish in 3-4 place.
3rd place in the NL Central will probably be good enough for the 2nd Wildcard spot
Cards/Rickie Weeks talks gaining traction. For some reason.
Rosenthal says that Lester was probably the best pitcher to give a 6 year deal to because of his delivery and conditioning.

Well it's something you have to do to get a good pitcher nowadays. You aren't going to see a lot of aces get 3 year deals.
I'm excited for the Sox to give up way too much for Cole Hamels now.
