Didn't Shields supposedly have an offer for $110M from a "mystery team"? If his price drops to 3yr/$60-70M then I'd say that's a good deal. He's a very solid pitcher, very dependable. He's just not a true #1, I'd say he's a good #2. Normally I'd want Boston to get him but I'd rather they use the money towards extending Porcello.

Victor Martinez injured his left knee last week during his off-season workout program. He underwent an MRI and examination at the Watson Clinic yesterday which revealed Martinez suffered a torn medial meniscus in his left knee.

He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday of next week with Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida. An additional update will be given at that time.
