What exactly is that map representing? Just wondering why more of the outlying states in the NW are deeper blue... Or why Alaska apparently has zero Mariners fans (but plenty of Red Sox and Yankee fans in the villages).

Well it is based on Facebook data of where fans exist .... a good representation of a team's reach.

I would assume the shades have to do with the density of the fanbase in those areas ... obviously darker where Seattle is located and less further away.

Mariner attendance has been pretty good hasn't it?

According to this article Xia posted a while ago, looks like it doesn't dip too low. A far cry from attendance back in 01, but not horrible. Games look more empty tho since we have a bigger stadium than most.

I remember a bunch coming out in 2014 when we barely missed the wild card. A decent Mariners team making the playoffs would get a shit ton of people coming out.

Braves have done a solid job getting the bases loaded against us this series. I think that was the 3rd/4th time in 1.5 games. We've been lucky they haven't done much with it.

I'd honestly be fine giving Gant a couple turns in the rotation if they want to let Folty percolate a little longer. He was supposed to start in AAA today anyways.

awe how cute the blue jays manager just got thrown out from the game for throwing a random hissy fit on a check swing that wasn't even close to being a swing.

likely just really frustrated they are about to be swept by the best time in the AL.

Here's a newer version from 2015. There are a lot of Mariners fans up in Alaska.

White Sox, Marlins, and Padres were a mistake.

white sox have plenty of fans :p
they just don't win many districts.

And the White Sox won't even be the best team in the AL by the end of May. They'll be battling it out with the Twins for last place.

hmmm, seems quite unlikely. maybe by the end of June (to fight the twins for last) but to be fighting with the twins for last place by the end of may would require them to suddenly start playing like the braves, which just seems unlikely with a team whose pitching is solid (and over performing right now, but is still very good in general and should end up with a sub 3.5 ERA for the season) and whose hitting is just heating up (and under performing so far but doing just enough to get it done) and will likely carry a few miscues from the pitching soon.

I mean most people picked the white sox as around a .500 team this season which if they performed near that would still likely not be near the twins at all.

but in general the white sox should be in first or near it all season long, especially if they replace john danks.

Didn't mean to sound like a dick. It's just this Jays team is performing like rancid ass, and it's making me sick atm.

Hopefully this series is a wake up call for this team, kinda like when they got swept in 4 by the Stros last season.

If it helps the white sox pitching in general has been making other teams look very bad. It's been unreal so far

and that is with a 5th starter running a 6+ERA.

If it helps at all I was more worried about facing the jays than baltimore. plus once baltimore continues to fall a bit the division will still be quite open for the jays to come back (though odds are baltimore will win tomorrow with danks pitching). Really the Twins seem to be the only ones in really bad shape right now in the AL, any other team has plenty of time to make a run of it still.
