The tipping point was when Valencia called Butler an "overpaid, piece of shit, bench warmer." Butler, who had just referred to Valencia as a "poopy head," appeared stunned.

Reading up on this drama around Valencia and Butler, and I'm really glad that, even though he was quite good as a utility player, that the Jays cut the strings when they got whiff of his ability to start drama.

I don't believe Butler has the awareness required to make that sort of observation. He was probably stunned when a Royals team built around speed and defense declined the club option after his weak 2014.
On one hand, we will always look back fondly on his 2009-2012 run. Dude could hit. On the other hand, KC was straight trash those years so, ummmmm, peace out Country Breakfast.

He can still hit, it's kind of sad Valencia would treat a teammate like that, it's not like Butler is hitting like Smoak or Goins.
