they're still in great shape going forward, but jesus christ this is ugly. the offense is bound to come around, but the rotation is in complete disarray. it was highly likely even before the season that arrieta and lackey were both gone after this year, so we were going to add starting pitching regardless, but they've fallen so far that we have to do it in season. we might have to use eloy, which really sucks.
if butler starts again, they deserve to lose that game. theo openly talked in the offseason about the failed matusz experiment (even saying he apologized to the team for it, which is hilarious), and that was only 1 start..... while they were a million games over .500. now they're doing the exact same thing, but for several starts, and in a season where they can't afford it.
