Oh really? I might have to look into that, that would be worth subscribing to MLB if I got that working

MLB TV is great. Especially when you're team is on an off day and you want to watch some ball. Or if you have time to watch a game during the day and then one at night.

Here’s my setup

Fire TV + MLB app + express vpn app. Set express vpn to Mexico (or anywhere not USA and Canada) viva la Mexico

For some reason setting the location in USA or Canada has mixed results.

But I was paying $150 a month for Directv for to get MASN. Now I am at about $30 with that setup.

But with the VPN app, it only changes the location for that particular Fire TV. So the rest of the house is not effected. Which I like.

R Rock And Roll JareBear: Remastered JareBear: Remastered

I heard an interesting stat yesterday. Talk of rule changes and speeding up the game.

There has been a 12% increase in the number of pitches comparing 1998 to 2018. The reason... foul balls.

With the increase of premium seats, the area that is foul (outside the lines, behind home plate) has decreased. Fans are closer to the game behind home plate and closer to foul lines. Resulting in foul balls that would have previously been able to be caught ending up in the stands.

12% is a big increase in total pitches league wide.

Yeah that's going to extend the length of each bat by what, 20 some odd seconds? As scouting reports only get more detailed and hitters know about pitchers tendencies, it's going to lead to more foul balls. What if there's a limit on the maximum number of balls you can foul off? Say 2 strikes then an additional 5 balls. I don't like it but it might be better than a pitch clock.

Combined with the domestic abuse allegations I wonder if anyone will take a chance on the guy. Definitely bringing a lot of baggage to a club and I have a feeling Boston might be done with him

More rule changes on the way.

Can someone explain to me how they are trying to speed up the game but they are also trying to boost offense in the league? More hits would lead to longer innings.

I think Manfred has no idea what the hell he wants anymore. They want more action and higher scores but they also want the games to be at least a half hour shorter.

Sounds like they want every at bat to either be an upper deck shot or a frozen rope snagged at the warning track

My wife and I had this same conversation yesterday.

You can’t cut game time and also hope to increase offense.

Deal was worth $3 million. It's shocking that's the best deal he could get. He's not an all star anymore but he's about league average now. I'd take a league average guy on my team any day over a below average player.

The O's probably could have kept him around as a face of the franchise while they rebuild but whether they offered Jones a contract (or if he declined being on a 100+ loss team) is another story.

Big changes agreed to by MLB and MLBPA

The two sides have agreed to make July 31 a hard deadline for the completion of trades, thus doing away with the convoluted August waiver system. That change will go into effect for the 2019 season
Big deal imo. Puts pressure on teams looking to deal as well as teams looking to add those important pieces

Beginning in 2020, the standard roster size will expand from 25 to 26 (with a 13-pitcher maximum). September rosters, meanwhile, will shrink from 40 to 28 (with a 14-pitcher maximum).
Good that it means 1 more full time job. However cutting back on September call ups sucks imo. Especially if your team isn't in the playoff hunt. September used to be the time to see what your future players had and was good experience for them.

Also All Star game voting in the link.

Yep. I also would not be surprised at all if the length of games increased. Advantage goes to hitters, increase in offense and now managers got to wait until they've faced the minimum before they can make a switch. Now the next RP comes in with runners on, pitching out of the stretch in high pressure situations.

Actually forget would not be surprised, I'm telling you right now the games are going to be longer. Manfred is a twat

I'm just surprised that the MLBPA would agree because it would possibly mean those Lefty Specialist... those RP that are only situational pitchers would have a harder time finding a job.

Trout close to signing a 10 year extension for a total contract value of $430 million - clearly taking Harper’s recruiting seriously.

I cant believe Trout isnt going to go somewhere he can win. Hes the best player in baseball and you NEVER hear about him because hes on that team.

The Trout deal is actually 12 years, $430

Was just about to post the Trout rumour. I hope Bryce enjoyed his record shattering deal for 3-4 weeks. Enjoy the Phillies for the rest of your career!

Angels are actually a good team on paper, but have been plagued with pitching injuries the last 4 seasons. So many games last season were easy W's but then our bullpen came in and lost the game, time and time again. That and Mike Scioscia was complacent. He's gone now, so new coach this year and healthy.

Tough division too

The only thing I don't like about MLB TV is that if you are watching a recorded game the progress bar can give away the outcome just based on time left in the recording. (I mean if you're skipping commercials.) Granted, this is an issue with all recorded sports, but I wish there was just a skip commercial button that wouldn't bring up the time remaining in-game.

I know it's a minor nitpick, but if you can't watch the game live, it does take away some of the drama.

Yeah I only watch the games lives but that bar can give things away. I could be wrong but I thought there was a way to hide information on it, like homeruns, hits etc...

My phone is giving me the game updates anyway. So I haven’t watched a recorded game in years.

I'm not sure, but even the time left is a "spoiler". I mean it's easy to work things out based on score / time remaining at a certain point.

I have all updates for sporting events I'm interested in disabled on my phone. I try to watch live whenever possible, but sometimes I can't. But I could trick myself if they'd make it possible. :p

White Sox have signed Eloy Jimenez to a 6 year $43 million deal - a record for a player with no previous major league experience.
