MLB - Official 2012 Postseason Thread of More Wild Cards and Higher Champagne Budgets

A big inning is just what we needed. Now I hope we don't sit back and relax because we have the lead. Seems like that happened all too often during the season.

Can't watch the game, but got the score. Keep up the good work. Kind of wish Garcia would get through 3 so then a fresh pitcher for the second at bats for the order would mix them up. But luckily our offense is helping out more than yesterday.

Braves GM Frank Wren said in hindsight, he'd like to see the Wild Card situation be a three-game series with Game 1 and Game 2 being a split doubleheader two days after the season ends (unless tiebreakers are needed) and Game 3 if necessary the next day with the LDS series starting the day after Game 2 so the division winner would only have to wait for three days.

tangotiger had a great suggestion over on the book blog. Two wildcards, but give the wild card with the better record a 1 game advantage in a 3 game series (well it would be a 2 game series really).

For example, this season the braves and cardinals would play. Braves had the better record so they would start off with 1 win. The braves would need to win 1 of the 2 remaining games and the cardinals 2. If its like the O's and Rangers with the same record then they can just play the full 3 game series.
