ESPN also picked up rights to carry games featuring more popular teams, like the Yankees and Red Sox, more frequently.
The Red Sox are still popular?

Roy Oswalt has cleared waivers and is close to being traded to an unknown team.
I would be so happy if this happened. Bard might be a headcase at this point, but Farrell's a lousy manager. I don't see why the Red Sox would do it, though...why trade someone who could still return to form in exchange for a manager they could just get at the end of 2013? One more year or Bobby Valentine (or whoever) isn't going to kill them.
Doesn't ESPN already air a Yankees or Red Sox game every damn week?Yay more Yankees games, that is exactly what baseball needs.
Oh fuck no.Damn Dodgers!
oh god and he is a former brave too so it is likely to happen.Ken Rosenthal floating the possibility of Dusty Baker to the Braves. Windu et al, might want to cool it on the "fire Fredi" tip!

ESPN has also made a commitment to showcase each of the 30 MLB Clubs at least once per season in a live game telecast.

Should Mets look into Jacoby Ellsbury
For the record, I'd like the deal. Finally get a legit leadoff guy/OF here. He's cost around $8-9 mil but at least he wouldn't be Jason Bay'd.
It sounds like it was the Dodgers who claimed him, prior to their deal with Boston.Heyman reporting Justin Morneau was claimed on waivers a few days ago, but no trade was completed and the Twins pulled him back.

More than likely. There's also stuff going around that the Dodgers contacted the Yankees about C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira before the Boston deal. New York said "Not interested."

I am really surprised the Yankees wouldnt do that.
NTCs aside, why would the Yankees ship off CC? They just extended him. I'd be fine with dumping Tex though

So I heard earlier on WFAN that the Dodgers inquired about CC Sabathia and Mark Texiera prior to the big trade they made..
...
The Dodgers have lost their fucking mind.
Minaya just overpays bad players. Dodgers took on MASSIVE deals AND gutted their whole system. That's the deadly double play. This is just making you miss Omar Minaya. Don't fight it.
It would hurt to lose CC in the short term but they could have freed up a ton of money to go and replace those guys with younger guys.

So it's a day ending in "y"?Bad day for Blue Jays fans.
Their first round pick in this year's draft, Marcus Stroman, failed a drug test for synthetic testosterone. Suspended 50 games/
Jose Bautista is having surgery on wrist and is done for the season.
IF THE SEASON ENDED TODAY:
AL Wild Card Game: Orioles @ Athletics
NL Wild Card Game: Cardinals @ Braves
NLDS Game 1: Nationals @ Braves or Cardinals
NLDS Game 1: Giants @ Reds
ALDS Game 1: Rangers @ Athletics or Orioles
ALDS Game 1: White Sox @ Yankees
Boston media is probably chomping at the bit to go to their "obviously a juicer" file when he leaves town.
Rays prospect Josh Sale was suspended 50 games for meth.
The next Josh Hamilton?

Yay for games against the ASStros and Dbags.
I was too young to remember the 1988 season, being a year old at the time, but looking at the standings... doesn't seem that bad to me. What happened? I know '87 was the real gut-punch.Worst. Season. Ever.*
*(Except for possibly 1988, but that was the year before I got into baseball, so I don't count that.)
