Moé/Lolicon

It was pretty tame compared to what's out there now. But let's not forget that the follow-up to Love Hina was NEGIMA, where 98% of the cast were like 14 year olds.
I think Mahou Sensei Negima is a bad example though; because they are 14 year olds drawn like 17 year olds and the main character is 10, so technically it's shotacon rather than lolicon.

Isn't Chi a BIT of a loli?

She was rather small.

Well alright, she is a robot. So I guess anything goes.
I think this is a slippery slope and usually a fuse that often sparks hate on visual styles. People always apply their own perception of age on the character regardless how it is designed or even what the creator explains, which is ironic because the medium itself draws strength from abstraction. "why are the anime peoples eyes so big? Why do they have weird hair colors.. Why is there a giant water droplet? This isn't realistic!" characters in Lucky Star are high schoolers, Hagu from honey and clover is a college student.

That show's actually not quite as bad as it sounds. I mean, it sounds pretty awful but it's actually reasonably watchable. The main thing that dragged it down was that one of the running gags on the show was that there were these two perverted guys that were always trying to...well...do the things that perverted guys do and it just got annoyingly stupid after, like, the first time they showed up.
Genderbending and crossdressing genres are often used in comedies as it feels like Japanese comedies rely on wacky situations and resulting interactions. This one isn't terrible and I recall it had a heartwarming ending.

Only if it could be done via a meetup of GAF members. I would be down for that, I remember back in the day friends used to throw anime parties to introduce gently people to anime.
This kind of thing selmdomly works in my experience unless it's over the top action or just plain fodder to trash on, everything else is probably lost in the shuffle. Trying to watch anything seriously (even good) makes for a poor social experience unless it's like a book club or intelligent discussion occurs afterwards.

You can usually find it in most Tape rental stores, heck I'd be stunned if it wasn't on Hulu/YouTube.
Can't find it in Youtube, and from what I know you have to be in America for Hulu to work. So any better suggestions?

Hence let's follow Calcaneus' suggestion:

We should pick the worst moe show, and have a group watch thread.
Aren't too many action shows out there that people don't know about I'd think...

There's a difference between having a picture of what looks to be a 10 year old girl and saying she's 18 and having an 18 year old girl and saying she's 12. It happens a lot. Chi, looks like a very young girl sex bot. I mean, thinking back, isn't she meant to be 3?

Take Yoko <3,

She's supposedly 14 (even though this was never confirmed.)

Chobits' problem isn't loli. It's about a guy becoming romantically attached to a minimally intelligent robot. Might as well just put an audio player in your love pillow that says "chi" every now and then.

To be fair, that was kind of the point, wasn't it? Granted, CLAMP decided to fuck its fans in the ass right near the end of that manga by saying
"Oh, by the way, despite the fact that we established the opposite at the beginning, Chobits can't actually feel emotions, haha fuck you fans!"
but the idea was that Chii was capable of loving a human, but not necessarily in the exact same way that a human does. I'm not sure it was quite the same thing as say, dating Data from Star Trek :lol

Is the pillow human shaped and can perform basic functions?

Surprise: Entertainment from different cultures cause culture shock from people who live on then other side of the world!

Nevertheless, from what I understand, even the Japanese seem to be getting tired of this shit somewhat. I'm the type of person that has a pretty substantial tolerance for animu moe nonsense if everything else is done well. This applies especially to comedy series, like how Excel Saga is one of my favorite shows despite featuring a overt pedophile as one of its running gags. Some of the shit going on now just takes it way too far though.

It's like Nakai from Bakuman came to life.

We need more anime like Goldenboy. A college age guy going after college age (and older) girls. That show was badass. I would have thought that with the MILF/cougar craze going around we would have seen this trend reflected in more recent anime. Guess not.

Golden Boy was a whole fucking generation ago when these dudes had money to spend and their Toy Industry wasnt corrupted as hell.

Holy hell, Hito, how did you watch the whole thing?

Well, EviLore, Chobits happened to be the anime that made me go from "wow, I can download shows from the internet! THIS IS AWESOME. I MUST HAVE IT ALL." to "wow, some of these shows suck."

Yeah, she was a little 'wild', wasn't she?:lol
Yea but it led to Kintaro's most awesome Bike moment. So I'll allow it.

I'm still waiting on the Manga to be translated or brought over, meaning as much as a chance as Muira has to finish Berserk.

what do your red user names mean?

it means they like higurashi and thus have a bad taste in anime :/

@Golden Boy: I still cannot believe that there have only been, what, 6 episodes. For those who read the whole manga: Das Kintaro at some point REALLY save the world?

I suppose the ol' rule of 'once you fap you can't take it back' applies.

Guess I have to commit seppuku now. Good bye.

Of course im not watching stuff like that, but I wonder just how loli the creepiest h-anime goes...

You mean how young they can be? You really don't want to fathom the depths! I can assure you.

Virtual Reality > Golden showers

you just proofed what I said. Males in modern manga/anime are always stupid (with exceptions, of course). I´d really love to see modern anime where the lead is a smart guy, and where there´s stupid, weak girls. Feminism has killed most anime (and Moe).

PS: At least, Rin´s brother actually liked the Ridebacks from the beginning.

http://www.hsilamot.info/wiki/images/a/ab/ToraDora.jpg[img]
I enjoyed Toradora, but I wouldn't exactly say Ryuuji was a non dumb lead male. He does all sorts of stupid, indecisive nonsense.

At least Taiga was actually the same age as him, although she was pretty much the definition of a lolitsundere.

Mhmm lolitsundere, they are the best.

Also Ryuuji wasnt that dumb, at least compared to the other lead males in other animes. But still acted like an idiot at times.

I suppose that Rie Kugimiya tends to get a lot of loli tsundere roles because, well, she looks the part o_O

That was like one of the more humorous ones! Makes sense since bike rumbling = giant vibrator.

Yep, GoldenBoy is awesome. The ADV guys who did the English dub were great (Greg Ayres?).

Goldenboy is so awesome! that's definitely a mini-classic. And yeah I loved the dub :D

Actually I'm gonna get DVD. It's only 20 bucks!

To Ryuuji's credit, at least he isn't some complete dumbass who girls flock to for no reason. He's dependable, completely independent, continues to remain optimistic despite his looks scaring others away, and takes good care of a girl who gives him crap in return.

I actually like to cheer this guy on, rather than just go "Oh, you lucky moron." *cough*Keitaro*cough*Shiro*cough*

That is a 30 year old woman. :lol

Any lolitsundere of note is probably voiced by Rie Kugimiya, although she's in basically everything anyways (notably Alphonse Elric, Shana, Taiga Aisaka, Nagi, Louise, etc. etc.)

I can at least understand the wish-fulfillment appeal of tsunderes. I can't really identify with lolicon fetishism, but it's probably a cultural understanding gap.
