Giving up on Chipotle.... how is Moe's Southwest Grill?

Not a fan of any of these. I've tried them all multiple times and Moe's was my least favorite. As someone who eats salsa pretty much every day I find their salsa abhorrent.

Go to a local Mexican restaurant.

I enjoy Moe's, but I agree with the sentiment that it's inferior to Chipotle when it comes to taste.

Moe's does have more toppings however, as well as choices. Plus their Kaiser salsa is great.

I remember on my first visit to Chipotle after years of Moes goodness I wondered where all the toppings were. The only things there were lettuce, cheese and salsa. Also, I had to pay extra for a tiny bag of chips and a miniscule cup of salsa. Literally enough salsa in the cup for maybe 2 chips.
Moes has fresh and pickled jalapenos, cilantro, black olives, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, salsa, cucumbers, queso. Free chips and a salsa bar with 5-6 different kinds.
I'm sure there are bad Moes out there but Moes on it's worst day is better than Chipotle in my opinion.

Moe's has like three times more toppings to choose from and actually tastes good. Chipotle is fucking garbage, almost tacobell tier.

I've never been to Moes. Can I get the burrito bowl with steak, cheese, lettuce, beans and chips with hot sauce at Moes for a better price/bigger portion?

Chipotle>Qdoba>Moe's

Moe's isn't bad by any means but the ingredients aren't as high quality. Though it's cheaper and you get free chips! I'd go there regularly if there were one near me.

chipotle is the food place for people who think theyve picked a superior food trendy place like they pick their trendy brewery joints to talk to the same trendy beard people

when chipotle is like the sbarro of the burrito world

Get fresh jalepenos on your burrito or ask them to add their hot sauce to it for spice. Their pork has a really good flavor to it, everything else is kinda bland (Don't get the ground beef), personally I usually get chicken or a 50/50 chicken steak split. The grilled veggies are a must, and the corn pico is pretty good. Also, go in like a seasoned vet and ask them to grill that burrito just before they wrap it, they wrap it up and put some cheese on the fold then put it on the flat grill for a few minutes, holds the monster together a lot better. You'll thank me later.

Oh forgot the "germ infested" /s salsa bar, the Kaiser Salsa is fuckin' god-like. And their seasonal salsa's are usually worth trying.
Thanks for those tips, sounds like a solid plan.

I went to a Moe's once but when I walked in the staff started yelling some gregorian Moe chant at me so I left. Scares me to this day.

Well I just got back from Moe's and I won't be going back again.

I got 3 tacos as that's what I normally get from Chipotle and that was very expensive - $12. The chicken was incredibly bland even with some hot sauce and the corn pico. The shells all broke apart very easily and I had one big spoonful of sour cream and guac right in the dead center. Wow, incredibly unhappy with that meal.

The Kaiser salsa was the only good part but even the 'free' chips were stale so I ate maybe 5 chips before tossing the rest.

One of the people preparing the food wasn't even wearing a hat until the manger (I assume) noticed and made a comment. I guess it's only Rubio's for me from here on out. lol

I like Qdoba because that diablo queso is heavenly.

Moe's is perfectly serviceable. Burritos are a must buy on Mondays and the queso is pretty great.

Chipotle is still the king though.

I'm sorry guys, Moe's is not good. It's like the Taco Bell of mexican restaurants designed for America. With the chips and queso as their hook.

Isn't Taco Bell the Taco Bell of Mexican restaurants?

I think Willys is the best of the subway-style "watch me make your burrito" places. They must just be regional to Atlanta because almost nobody is mentioning them.

The Moes all around me taste terrible in comparison to Qdoba and Chipotle.

Qdoba still remains the go to place.

Had Moes exactly one time and got violently ill for 3 days. Never again.
Well this might be a fun weekend...

My local moes is always super damn salty. Taste like it's loaded with sodium. I just never have good experiences there

When I was living in Augusta, GA (where there is no Chipotles but plenty of Moes), my buddies and I would sometimes drive an hour north to Columbia, SC to get Chipotle. Moes sucks. Qdoba is legit though.

Qdoba is not only a great alternative to Chipotle they are amazing. Chipotle has some portion size sues that very by location but Qdoba they have been consistent from day one with my meals.

Qdoba used to be my favorite, but all of them in my area seemed to switch to these new steamers (or maybe new tortillas?) that don't make the tortilla nice and stretchy. It's more like Chipotle and Moe's now in that respect, and it makes me sad. I liked that Qdoba used to steam their bread to stretchy like consistencies, but oh well. Anyway, I still go there because their queso and salsa options are far superior to any other chains. I like Chipotle for their guacamole mainly. They make it better than any other chain, IMO. Then Moe's. I go there every Monday because of the cheap burrito and chips. I love that they offer raw jalapeños. No other chain does that. Their hard rock and roll sauce is pretty nice too.

So yeah, there are pros and cons to all three.

I just found that we have one within a few miles of where I live and I was thinking about trying them out soon. Any opinions on how their food compares?

I loved Chipotle for quite a while but every time I go there these days, the portions and quality of the food is very inconsistent between the 2 locations I visit. I think it's time to look elsewhere and I see Moe's is apparently a big competitor of theirs.

Where do you live man?

Damn sounds like a poorly run restaurant :(
The Moe's near me are always on point in service and fresh chips even when it's busy.
Oh well, maybe give it another shot in a different location if you ever feel like it.

Moe's is okay. Their queso is awesome, but they can be a bit cheap on their meat and cheese portions. Still doesn't top the king - Freebirds

I don't care for Moe's.

The main reason I don't go to Moe's more is because I don't like how they have names for all their items. I just want to say I want a burrito.

I like Moe's and have liked it since I wound up in the South 8 years ago. There aren't any Chipotles in the immediate area, it takes an hour to get to one and whenever I would be near one and in the mood for that style of food, I would get Moe's. The only Qdoba I knew of closed (it was also an hour away but I did eat there infrequently) and a place I loved called YoBurrito that had similar burritos but only as menu items (and amazing Mahi Mahi soft tacos) closed down (but may have a location in Charleston).

I get the same thing whenever I go to Moe's: A Joey's Bag of Donuts with beef and chicken, black beans, fresh jalapeños, queso, onions, and sour cream. The only really cold thing I get is sour cream and there isn't a ton of it, so I have never experienced the "burritos are 90% cold) thing people are complaining about. Plus I like hitting that cold pocket of the sour cream anyway.

Chipotle
*steep drop*
Boloco
Moe's
Qdoba

Chipotle have the best tasting food. Moe's is mostly good for the quantity of food you get and I almost only go there on Monday's when it's like $5-6 for a burrito. Qdoba is manure and Boloco is pretty solid but the nearest one is in Boston and if I'm that close, I'm going to Felipe's or Anna's (local joints).

Eh I had it once and was not really satisfied. I was ok I guess.

I actually just left Chipolte and had the smallest burrito I've ever had from there. It was like they knew I should be on a wedding diet but damn it I'm hungry.

Hey, at least you gave it a shot! Sounds like your local moes is trash, sorry to hear that. The one around here went to shit recently, and luckily there's a new one about two miles from it.

Sounds like your local Moe's is either bad or having a really off day. That's the sad thing about these minimum wage fast food chains your quality can be highly dependent upon how well your store is run.
