Monitoring the situation in Iran

>Iran declares death to the West, acts as a terror state for decades, develops nukes, massacres tens of thousands of its own people when they resist
>America and Israel attack regime
>Regime does terrorist stuff, attacks Arab neighbors, cluster bombs civilians, blackmails Strait
>We ask Europe to help open the Strait, they decline, stating it is not their concern
>Oil prices skyrocket
>"How could America do this?"

Don't forget Iran also forced the spread of it's religious ideology across it's neighbors, leading to several Arab countries to denounce the regime.
And it even caused the Iraq-Iran war, that resulted in the death of half a million people.

>Iran declares death to the West, acts as a terror state for decades, develops nukes, massacres tens of thousands of its own people when they resist
True
>America and Israel attack regime
True
>Regime does terrorist stuff, attacks Arab neighbors, cluster bombs civilians, blackmails Strait
True
>We ask Europe to help open the Strait, they decline, stating it is not their concern
True but not entirely surprising. Imagine having a "friend", then antagonizing that friend for almost 2 years(tariffs) and it's screwing with their ability to be economically stable. Afterwards, doing something that completely craters their economy and increases the rate of inflation(attack Iran). Now we're surprised they don't want to help?
>Oil prices skyrocket
True
>"How could America do this?"
True. America got baited into attacking Iran with improper planning, resource procurement, etc. Literally the most incompetent people who you would never want heading up this venture are in charge.

We all knew this would be the result and that's why America is deservedly getting the blame. There's nothing wrong with wanting to overthrow the regime. However, it should have been something that should have been planned years in advance. We know it wasn't because they're running out of missiles.

Again, American deserves 100% of the blame for this... If the failure of previous regime change attempts wasn't reason enough to hold off, the lack of supply of armaments should have pumped the brakes. If that wasn't enough, the dependency on foreign adversaries like China for raw materials and alloy manufacturing of said armaments should have derailed any such plans.

Now we're hearing rumors of wanting to bomb desalination plants as if that is not a genocidal act of unprecedented proportions. Serious amateur hour stuff which is a huge departure from previous operations levied by the States. A visible downgrade in competence that cannot be hand waved away.

From the Battlefield to the Blockchain: How Cryptocurrency Is Helping Finance the Drone Revolution

  • Low-cost, commercially available drones have become central to modern conflict, allowing state and non-state actors, such as pro-Russia militias and Iran-backed terrorist organizations, to project power affordably.
  • Drone procurement networks of state-backed actors increasingly intersect with the blockchain, which raises compliance challenges given the dual-use nature of drone technology.
  • Pro-Russia volunteer groups have successfully raised millions in crypto across various blockchains to purchase UAVs and associated components from global e-commerce platforms.
  • Analysis of sanctioned manufacturers like KB Vostok reveals how blockchain data can shed light on nation-state buyers of interest. In particular, analysis of transactional patterns can empower investigators to identify unit sales and gain insight into state-adjacent supply chains.
  • Comprehensively sanctioned states, such as Iran, are using cryptocurrency to advertise and procure strategic military hardware to further 'sanctions-proof' arms acquisitions.

Iran: From proxy networks to state-level commercialization

The dual-use procurement challenge extends well beyond Russia. Sanctions-constrained actors, including Iranian defense entities and Iran-aligned proxies, need components subject to export controls. Drone parts fit this profile precisely, and Iran's own Shahed drone program has relied heavily on commercially available components sourced through third-country procurement networks.

A January 2026 Financial Times investigation found that Iran's Ministry of Defense Export Center (Mindex) was publicly advertising advanced weapons — including Shahed drones, ballistic missiles, and warships — for sale to foreign governments with cryptocurrency as an accepted payment method, in what appears to be one of the first known instances of a nation-state openly advertising strategic military hardware for crypto. Notably, Mindex's website explicitly addressed buyer concerns about sanctions evasion, stating that Iran's policies ensure contracts "can be executed," underscoring crypto is increasingly viewed by heavily sanctioned actors as a deliberate, institutionalized tool of sanctions circumvention, not merely a niche workaround.

As shown in the Reactor graph below, a wallet purchasing drone parts from a Hong Kong-based supplier has direct and indirect liquidity flows from the Iranian exchange Nobitex, IRGC wallets, and OFAC SDN Alireza Derakhshan, an Iranian national designated for facilitating crypto transfers on behalf of the regime.

Against this backdrop, it has been instructive to monitor drone-related transactional activity in real-time, including during periods of active conflict. As depicted in the chart below, inflows to a small subset of drone vendors spiked during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June 2025, then returned to pre-war levels when the ceasefire was concluded. While this activity is consistent with a war-time surge in drone-related procurement, it represents only a snapshot of limited vendor activity at a specific moment in time and should not be understood as representative of Iran's entire drone payment landscape or broader global patterns.

There is a lot more information in the article. Including how blockchain is now used to track weapon acquisition by several countries.

Meanwhile, Israel is committing ethnic cleansing in Lebanon now, which they will obviously try to annex too

Something already hinted at by Marco Rubio, whose the only saving grace in the Trump Administration. But surely he can't be serious, I was told time and again how this campaign is going splendidly and will end the terrorist regime in Iran. And surely "Washington would press allies in Europe and the Gulf to take the lead on reopening the strait" is a joke, too, since we all know those Eurocucks won't lift their weak fingers due to TDS.
I wouldn't take any of their statements too seriously. We are clearly gearing up for a ground invasion of some sort. I don't know who these statements are for, maybe just to cause confusion.

Not a judgment, just sharing my own personal experience of owning three EVs and leasing 3 others. When I "EVangelize"" to folks about them I always recommend they lease an EV before taking the full on plunge.

This gives you the ability to see if an EV fits into your lifestyle AND removes gigantic depreciation cliff that evs have.

I will not own another ICE car (I have a truck that will last for several decades I hope as a back up) but plenty of folks struggle with the transition.

I hope ya love it and it works out for you because playing .16 "a gallon" for my EV is far better than the 3.85 I'm seeing for gas in my area.
Absolutely.

Honestly there is no going back for me. The combination of constant power + I-Pedal is too addictive. Gear changes and hitting the break seem so quaint now. 🤣

Definitely an eye opening experience.

If Europe doesn't want to "bend over" they should use this a reason to go into a war economy to force through a fast transition to renewable energy.

Europe has no strategy, no leaders. It was outsourcing energy to russia and theocracies, labor market dependent of third worlders, its defense relied on the US goodwill and its critical raw materials all came from china.

Best thing that could happen is trump growing some balls and cut all nato funding so we can finally wake up and stop being reliant of others. Mass deportations, new defense programs, produce as much energy as possible and advance tech. This should be the pillars of the EU single market in the next 10 years.

Instead we have countries passing legislation to ban drilling exploration wells.

Europe bends over and spreads.

Bending over is europes natural state post-WW2. Just look at the savage hordes they've been letting in forever now, and how they defend them and do nothing when said savage horde plows through Christmas markets or shoots up concerts or (in the UK's case) kidnaps, grooms, and rapes little girls. The UK government is actually complicit in covering that up.

Yes. Here in the UK the people ruling over us are genuinely evil.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have those who want to just shut ourselves off from the rest of the world in a delusion that what happens there doesn't affect us.

I wish y'all could fix it. I'd love to go see the land my ancestors came from one day.

It still boggles my mind that the Conservative government in the UK sold off all our gas reserves in 2017 as if we would never need a back up.

The problem in Europe is not strategy but the fact that it is so slow and there are so many smaller actors and so many vetos or objections to doing anything. This is why I suggested something like a war economy is needed to make something happen in energy supply. Otherwise Europe is just dependent on US for fossil fuels or China for more modern tech.

Scandinavia, Finland, Germany, France and the UK should form its own union.

No more shit hole countries like Hungary or Serbia.

The slowness and smaller actors are not to blame for Europe shortcomings. Merkel and her goons are the reason we're headed to hell.

And absolutely nothing will change until we have new leaders.

Without knowing where Trump intends to take the war, it would frankly be political suicide for any Western European country to chip in militarily.

You also can't be urging Keir Starmer and Macron to deploy ageing warships on a dime (a move that is extremely unpopular politically) meanwhile your ally Musk is busy shilling up the opposition in their countries.

The U.S. should really lead the way. If two carrier battle groups can't keep the strait open, suppress incoming drones and missiles and escort tankers…what are the French and British navies supposed to be able to do?

Europe has its hands full with the Defence of Ukraine, which is also another important goal. Pulling resources away from that conflict will only serve to benefit Russia while not making a reasonable dent in the war against Iran.

I guess the rest of us are just stuck with higher prices and an energy crisis now for this half finished war that didn't really accomplish much.

Christ, trump has fucked it hasn't he.

He's saying shit like that, whilst this is happening from our airfields every day...

What an absolute sausage. I don't think the Starmer regime will follow suit however.

The real goal isn't actually to protect ships, it's to drag these countries into war too after Iran drones their warships

lol, the hard part is done.
Big "I give up," energy.

Amazing strategy from Hegseth et al. as expected.

The US has not helped Europe in 80 years, and in fact has fucked it over multiple times since, from Suez to creating disarray in the Middle East on a regular basis. Now they are fucking over Asia too. If they could stop 'helping' and just leave this part of the world, go full Donroe and stay in the Americas it would be so great. But they just cannot be helped it seems.

I wonder if Trump actually thinks he is faking out Iran saying shit like that meanwhile still sending thousand of US troops for a possible ground invasion. That seemingly has been his play with Iran going back to his first presidency, where Iran thinks they're negotiating in good faith then he bombs them in the middle of it. So I hope he isn't seriously thinking he will get away with parachuting or landing troops in Iran and catching them off-guard.

Either way, it is astonishing to see this man destroy so many relations in damn near a year that took decades to build up. He is talking about buying Jet fuel from that US when soon other countries likely wont even be buying Jets from the US. What's even more astonishing is that he still has his cheerleaders cosigning everything he does as a genius play that is making America great again. Oh boy.

Many don't get it. War has changed. This is the age of the FPV drone and the ballistic missile, and it's going to be absolutely terrifying to wage war without taking these into consideration.

Russia is currently on an offensive in Ukraine right now, but you wouldn't know it because nobody can move any major mechanized force without being swarmed by drones. Big drones now function as drone carriers and signal relays. Fiber drones can't be jammed reliably.

This is the war the U.S. should have been preparing for. Yes, bombs and air power are great and will help to even the odds…but cheap munitions are killing highly trained special operators everyday in Ukraine.

Without sufficient stock of anti- ballistic missiles and anti-drone munitions, landing zones will be targeted and high value assets of friendly gulf countries will take a massive amount of damage. Without training and equipment to counter FPV drones, any ground operation will take casualties as long as it's within 30km of hostiles.

It's a major conundrum at the moment, and I don't envy the Pentagon war planners the headache it'll take to unravel it. But I fully understand why the Europeans are balking at entering a war that could quite easily transition to a ground operation.

"We don't have anything to learn from Ukraine" is the attitude that's gotten Americans killed and billion dollar radars destroyed.

Throw in Poland and Ukraine and it looks more like a deal.
Yes, I managed to forget about Poland. Shame on me.
Then Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania should be included. Can't leave them hanging.

Ukraine is welcome if they smoke out the old Soviets and corruption.

Don't worry. They will before too much longer. The new Islamic caliphate will encompass all of those countries.
You keep saying that.
