At this point I think Trump's plan to get out of the debates is to be polling at less than 15%.
What makes you think he'd be humble enough to go on TV after/if he loses? He'll just post on Twitter about Crooked Hillary and cry into the few dollar bills left from his campaign funding.

There's absolutely no way this happens -- his ego is the size of the sun, he thinks the polls are rigged against him, and he thinks he's actually winning the election. He will until November, where he will continue to say the election is rigged against him. There is nothing about his personality that says he will drop out before November.

I hope Trump sees his falling poll numbers and reacts...like he usually reacts to bad news: by making it worse. I know he (or those around him, more likely) is trying to appear presidential, proposing (bad) policy and floating (bad) personnel picks, but if he gets asked again and again about polling, he just might snap.

Texas whites voted for McCain 73%-26%.
It's same problem you have in Georgia where minorities are a larger portion of the state than the national average, but it's so solidly to the right of the nation because white people vote way more solidly red there. You need way more demographic changes than usual to change states like that.

Yet that's why Hillary is doing so well in Georgia, comparatively -- college educated whites (especially college educated white women) hate Trump. What's scary for the GOP is suburban and college-educated voters end up tilting Democratic going forward if the GOP keeps up its nativist streak. That will cost them in places like Georgia and Texas who have a lot of college educated whites.
Texas isn't going blue anytime soon. Democrats need to drop that white whale.

It hasn't been polled in a while for this election. It could be close this year.
This story is from 2014 and does not take into account the Trump factor. Trump is despised by Hispanics and his mere presence has been driving up voter registration within their community. I'm not saying that Clinton will win Texas, but it is a non-zero possibility already. Trump has also probably poisoned the GOP for the younger, growing generation of Hispanics enough to turn them into reliably blue voters.

I think that's worth considering. Obama got 63% of the hispanic vote, but Hillary is likely to get about 85% of the hispanic vote and it will represent a larger portion of the electorate than it did in 2012. Not to mention Ted Cruz is pretty popular with TX conservatives and he notoriously refused to endorse Trump.
I don't know if it will be enough to flip the state, but I think it will be damn close.
