Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Demo out [Updated: FAQ and Help]

The rabbit is very easy and now I can kill it with my eyes closed.

The dragon on the other hand...

Well, I hope I will have better chances with it in full game. Oh, and is a long sword a good weapon for beginner? I like it's range and speed.

Also, when using a long sword, A=light attack, R=medium attack and X=strong attack?
You start with easy monsters such as Great Jaggi and Lagombi, by the time you unlock Plesioth you already know what you are doing. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but at least you already have experience from past quests.

And Long Sword is a smash button weapon, so yeah, it's very friendly. Hammer as well, not many moves and it hits hard.

Yes, the long sword is a fantastic weapon for newbies. Its speed and mobility allow the user to make up for not being able to anticipate the monster's attacks. And anticipation is really what the fights are all about.

I wish I could help with the question about the sword attacks but I don't have a 3DS or Wii U yet >.>

Wow how much damage does the rabbit take. I suck at this lol.

Tried the 3DS demo, initially feared water combat based on the camera controls but then I discovered the lock on and all was good but my knowledge of how to use the hunting horn seems to have mostly vanished, still all that matters is that I was walloping monsters with a coffin.
I played much better than on the wii u demo, returned to see how much better I would fare against rabbit boy using a faster weapon, much better in this case.

just one more month!

I kill him faster and faster, just did it with the dual swords in less than 10 min too. What is the glowing power that you can activate with the dual swords for?
"Demonize" mode, which increases weapon affinity, allows you to sidestep instead of roll, and unlocks new attacks for your weapon at the cost of constantly draining your stamina bar.
One of them can be fought only in the water.
There was only one underwater-exclusive monster... in Tri ;)

There's lock on?! I beat the Rabbit but never realized there was lock on.

Looks pretty good on 3DS - very pleasantly surprised. Though, yes, the font choice is pretty fugly.

Wish this was a little more newcomer friendly. Digital manual or not, there should have been a screen that follows up after selecting your weapon that shows:

a) monster lock on button (definitely helps)

b) combos for the weapon choice you selected

Loved MH tri

This Demo is gonna determine if I get MH3U day 1 or wait

Mine is downloading fast, only 26 mins from the start

Is their a play limit on the Demo?

Will play Trine 2 Demo while I wait

Nope. I've been hitting that bloody Lagombi for ages and it will not die. Also not a fan of the loading between the small sections.

Also. I take it there is no health meter for the monsters.

What weapon are you using? It's really not that hard with either longsword or sword and shield.

No, there is no health bar, but you can see when the monster is getting weaker.

Download both demos even though I plan on just getting the Wii U one. Won't be able to play Wii U demo today so I thought the 3DS one at least would give me an idea what it's like.

Also, did Capcom just announce a sort of ad-hoc play for the 3DS game via Wii U?

First time in MH3 (coming from MHFU) and I beat the snow rabbit with 3 minutes to spare

-Went with my trusty lance. Accidentally did some new moves (wide lance swing? And I think a shield bash?). Definitely got to get used to that

- Looks pretty good. Self shadowing on the monsters is very nice. I think the 3D makes up for the low resolution, but it looks like there's AA in 2D mode!

- Occasionally get knocked into adjacent rooms, but not a big deal since the load times are very fast

Can't wait to try the other weapons

It took me the whole 20 fucking minutes to beat the first monster on easy. It just would not die holy crap.

In Tri I would often run out of time with 50 minutes on some monsters... usually a big sign it's time to upgrade weapons or find a new strategy to get more hits in

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Time up.

Almost killed Plesi on my first try with Bowgun.

Missed the second paralyze chance because he was moving too fast underwater, lol.
