Monster Hunter World (XB1/PS4, PC later, Early 2018) E3 info [Up: Effectively MH5]

Well, yeah. Like 99% of multiplayer games on PS4. Also where did this stupid fear of subscription fees come from? This isn't an MMO and Capcom has never even hinted at such a thing.

This is a Japanese stream and some of the console Monster Hunters required separate sub fees for Japan in the past.

I was never worried we would need anything besides PS+ in America, but I'm happy for Japanese players.

Because MH1/2/3 in japan has suscription so japanese player are asking are they gonna pay additional besides also paying for ps plus.

Those quizz sound effects lmao.

Came from console monhun requiring a subscription a japan until 3U, and capcom being unclear as usual.
Of course it was never going to be the case in the west.

In an interview they said that online would be handled similar to the previous console MH games which had subscriptions in Japan but it was clarified later they were actually talking about post-launch support.

This is true, but I would have thought the past 7 years of no subscription fees would have been pretty telling. That's just me though. It's good the question was cleared up either way.

They just said they can't reveal how many monsters yet.

They wouldn't tell us that this early anyway probably. They're also likely to have less of them because they have to essentially start from zero, what capcom have been essentially avoiding for years. They're going to be far more complex in every way and require much more work than ever.

Nintendo paid for the servers of 3U.
Handheld games never needed subscriptions.
Hence why there was no subscription fee lately.

Didn't get a chance to watch much of the stream, is weapon sharpness and stamina degradation looking the same as always?

Looked like you could eat while moving but only a slow walk.

You'd have to be reaching now to say this is a spinoff. It looks amazing on all fronts.

Also if you get hit whilst healing (which is a slow regen) you lose the benefit
That hammer jump spin move was pretty awesome
Damage seemed much higher than the E3 demos
Im guessing this is all starting equipment, when they TP'd to base camp and switched weapons there was 1 of each weapon type which you've been given in a lot of the previous entries
Monsters down... no 3 tier charge..... Fire this man!
Running and gathering will make gathering quests so less tedious

Can't wait. Day 1 on PC!

"There are more maps besides the jungle, but we can't reveal what they are right now."

So, Desert, Snowy Mountains, & Volano, just like every other Monster Hunter? I'm sure we won't be surprised.

Definitely looking forward to this, not happy with a few of the changes but I'll judge the game as a whole when I play it.
These days whenever a new MH is shown I find myself caring more about end game content, the beginning is always a grind, and I hate starting over, especially not looking forward to starting this, looks like the hand-holding is a bit too much (can't stand the character talking during quests), hopefully we can skip through them quickly.

What's hilarious was that Tsujimoto was so anxious of running out of time and got heavily damaged because of it, making it even harder to complete the quest.

Loved that this demo showed more weapons! I was hoping for that!

I noticed the long sword user had a sword strike bounce off. He then used some item but there was no sharpening animation, so he was right back in the fight immediately.

She talks in the tutorial quests. Everything she says is basically a voiced tutorial that would otherwise be text in previous MH games.

Sharpness is more obvious that a weapon is about to go blunt. Seems to be a bar that reduces so you know when to resharpen.

Stamp and hp and hidden almost in the top left until you get into combat and then it extends like old.

This game pretty much has classic MH gameplay. However, I'm still very curious about how fast you can traverse around an entire map when using shortcuts and the rope. If MHWorld is truly like prior MH games then it should be the kind of experience that can last hundreds of hours and, after putting that amount of time into a MH game you just want to get to the monster ASAP and fight it with little downtime as possible. I'm optimistic though, as features like being able fast travel back to base camp and perhaps a slightly faster run speed should, in theory, help with getting around quickly in these new seamless environments.

Other than that, I want to know whether or not this game has Arena Quests and, as someone cares about the skill ceiling of MH, if they've kept the same amount of i-frames for the the regular dodge roll and side/back step evades.
