you cant make this determination without knowing which counties are reporting.
Quist isn't doing too well in Yellowstone.
If it doesn't get closer then he has no chance of winning.
Doesn't need to win. Just needs to keep it painfully close. But fingers crossed he wins none-the-less.
Way smaller turn out than in the Presidential election.
I don't know how the state is set up, but I'm assuming a large % of those numbers are made up of early votes?

The election was probably decided well in advance of this incident because of mail-in voting. Dickface will win, Paul Ryan will give some meaningless "the people of Montana have spoken" tweet, he'll get a slap on the wrist by a Republican judge, and then he'll go off to help Trump pass hard right legislation.

The problem is that the Quist favorable precincts are the ones reporting in. Quist is barely ahead and all the rural areas still have yet to report.
If Quist loses by double digits, then democrats need to stop trying to appeal to rural voters ever.
To be fair, those numbers are about 10x what I thought the population of Montana was.

It's not impossible that it only appeals to hardcore GOP voters that were turning out anyway and wouldn't be swayed by nearly anything.
Mine is Up First, The Daily, 538, Pod Save America, NPR Politics, and Slate Political Podcast (and on occasion, Trumpcast).
I also love The Weeds, but that is usually more policy-oriented. Ezra Klein is bae.

Given that midterms are always referendums on the president's party, a loss by less than 10 means that 2018 is going to be a massive blue wave

Most people vote early in Montana.
The point is that they hadn't voted early, and didn't turn up today. Which is why turn out is way down in that county from last year.

2/3 of the vote was already in before yesterday due to early voting. Which makes this result even more worrisome for the GOP if it's only a single digit win

It's not close. Most of the precincts reporting in are Quist friendly ones, with the exception of Yellowstone.
The eyewitnesses to the assault were literally fox news and unambiguously blamed it on "their" guy - unprovoked.
