mitt are you wearing pants

Looks like Will Ferrell playing Harry Caray

Elegant version:

Forsooth, good sirs! I say that full forty-seven percent of our countrymen are liars, beggars, and thieves. Victims they call themselves, and all the while shall they take our food, our homes, even the doctors and leeches they shall take from us, for they demand much and give little; yea, even unto relinquishing less tax monies into the treasury than I myself! And these are the men my opponent calls on as his allies. Verily, these men shall cast ballots for him and cast stones at me!

I tell you now, sirs, that such men as these shall never hear reason. It is not your duty, nor is it mine, to worry overmuch on such men. They shall reap what they have sown, and the world shall be better for it.

Very nice. I read that in Dan Carlin's voice.

You're seeing it. Look at the finalists for the nomination. It looked like a goddamn Rogue's Gallery of dumb fucks. They didn't give half a shit about this election. I'm convinced of that. Romney won by default.

He basically did. The fact that he struggled against Newt fucking Gingrich, Rick Santorum and HERMAN CAIN tells you all you need to know. Rick Perry would have beat him if he didn't make Sarah Palin look like Einstein in comparison.

All the actual smart Republicans like Jeb knew that 2016 was the real ticket.

Don't overestimate them, that's the party where Newt Gingrich is considered an intellectual heavyweight.

..What exactly was the point of the press conference again?

Personally am really excited at the idea of weekly late night press conferences with Romney.
Eventually he'll bring a chair as the campaign walks take his legs from him, then the cigarettes to deal with stress. Finally a drunken Romney every night will open up to the world from a comfy cigarette stained sofa.

Holy shit, this is possibly one of the biggest gaffes by a presidential candidate in a LONG time. Jesus.

He doesn't even try to show some class.

That response was really bad. I don't understand why this campaign would have him come out there if he was going to look flustered and unkempt like that. It wasn't just his appearance. He really sounded worried and lacking confidence. They didn't need to rush out a response. A response like that just makes things worse.

Mitt loves rushing out before he has anything to say

Politicians being bought and carrying out the demands of special interests isn't a conspiracy theory.

Nobody likes to hear it.

Well, now that I'm done being hoodwinked by the Internets (so sad), I have to wonder why folks follow this stuff as closely as they do when it's evident they're rooting for Brand X over Brand Y.

Is it the schadenfreude potential? I love laughing at the misfortune of others as much as the next guy, but not with it comes to serious things like running our country.

When our two party system boils down to this, with one candidate being a complete cock and deep sixing his own campaign; isn't it time we start letting other candidates get some of that precious air time so voters can see the other options available?

Sorry, the media is only good for mindless entertainment now. You want them to talk real issues? Please. At least we're getting this Romney debacle.

From the sounds of things theres been a lot of fighting about whose to blame for recent problems. Likely in 'more' fighting someone said a statement had to be made, Romney agreed and whilst a bunch of other people argues/moaned - they were already strolling in to make a statement.

Basically this is an episode of The Thick of It.

I do like my idea of Romney making statements a week a night for fun, if he wins the election I'd just love him rushing out to make statements. One week he forgets to wipe the tooth paste from his mouth; another he forgets to change out of his wives dress; then he forgets to take off his sunglasses, making for a bizzare declaration of war; the time he hilariously turned to walk away from the podium - revealing that he forgot to put any trousers on.

If anything he should have his own sitcom.

[Seriously though - it shows some serious internal problems, a campaign and a man with zero control over the situation and generally a pretty scatter shot outlook]

Obama's "you didn't build that" speech was about a twenty times more offensive to me than this, give or take. And that was done in the open.

You're fine, Mittens. Get ready for the debate.

Doesn't anyone have any links to livstreams of what's happening now? I just caught up on all this, any video recordings of the response? (Really wanna see Fox News' reaction!! The next Colbert/Jon Stewart will be amazing too..)

edit: just saw the quoted link. any livestream commentary would be great though.

The media has been pretty aggressive when it comes to outright fabrications, certainly more so than I can remember in modern politics. Bush in 2004 was running on an alternate universe and he slid through the election pretty easily.

Well yes, if we are to put a gestalt analysis on the entire thing. I mean fuck, why do I go to work? I should just live in the woods.
