I think his dismissive attitude towards undecideds is going to hurt him more. He is wrong on the math and economics, but the right and left both already know how that game is played. But when he says "I need to play to the people who pay taxes but vote based on their emotions and somebody's likeability" he is not selling himself to an undecided voter.

Although it kind of baffles me that someone would have trouble picking one or the other. The only indecision I could understand is "major candidate or vote for a third party." It seems pretty clear what the differences are between Obama and Romney.

Sure, Romney's quote might contain a grain of truth. But it’s also cruel and fatalistic. Obama repeating was not a given by any stretch. If the GOP machine through its full faith and backing behind a sane, less extreme candidate, they would have had a serious shot. In fact, it would've been in their favor. But they were still riding high on the Tea Party bullshit and couldn't decide who their base was.
