They are three-year-old twins. The only way to tell them apart is that Luna (the one on the right) has a crinkle in her ears. Otherwise, they are identical.
If it's a Galapagos turtle, it could even outlive her grandchildren. Charles Darwin had one, and it only passed away like a few decades ago, too lazy to look it up.
While the turtle in question (Harriet) died aged 175 in 2006, the story of it having been Darwin's pet was made up (in the 1990s). There is no record of Darwin ever owning such a pet, and a DNA analysis showed that Harriet came from an island Darwin had never actually visited during his expedition.
Yea I loved my old guinea pig a lot. She was great. Cerda. She didn't very long despite me doing absolutely everything the vet suggested, she was the most docile guinea pig I'd ever seen. Even perfect strangers could come over and pick her up or feed or from their hands.
My mom too took it hard - similar situation, me going off to school and all.
