Episode 2
Damn, that was friggen good. Like really good stuff. I mean yeah, a little over-the-top with the cheese, but it was still damn good in the story presentation and hero depiction. Feels good man.

The show is much better than I anticipated through 2 episodes. And no, I didn't read the manga and won't keep referring to those nestalgic feelings on how the original is better, lol

In lieu of your SAO tastes, your praises here only make me second guess myself.

Saw this awesome drawing done by the artist behind MHA, wasn't sure if it belonged in here or some pokemon thread.
Big fan of his art-style
I like it.

Charizard needs to work on his pec game, though.

I think the "You too can be a Hero" was beautiful in this version, the sunset and the building to it delivered in spades to me. Judging by the preview we are going to go with a faster pace starting next episode. Also BONES is putting work with the extra details that are usually not the focus of the manga and expanding upon them, they really are working out of love to the series so far.

Excellent episode especially for the Bakugou and Midoriya stuff. I love how Bakugou even admitted to the childhood friends part and at least somewhat felt a bit saddened over how Midoriya was, though somewhat inspired by him. The ending moments was best especially how he was trying his hardest to not express thanks but still ended up right in front of Midoriya and Midoriya even knew. Best friends.

I started reading the manga right after I marathoned reading One-Punch Man, and while I really liked it I stopped just because I was nearing the end of the manga high I just had.

After watching the first episode of the anime (and actually crying D':) I am debating if I should just splurge on the manga or wait every week for a new episode.

I loved the first episode so much, man. I love everything about superhero-y adaptations.
It looks like the pace will be slower for the anime, so I suggest reading the manga to catch up. It's really good and the pace is nice so you'll up to par in no time.

Yeah, the pacing for this show is really confusing as I don't think I've ever seen the first chapter of a manga spread over 2 episodes. Makes me curious about the pacing of the rest of the show because that can make or break a show a lot of the time.

THAT SAID this was still a very good episode. Some of the directing is really weird and off-point, with either close-ups or movement/faces not fitting tone but sometimes it's fucking on like Donkey Kong. You have sorta weird shots like Deku's sliding into frame reaction to All-Might's puny form or Bakugou's yelling at Deku and turning around and Deku's sweat-drop reaction but then you have Bakugou's look of help which was drawn beautifully and expressively and felt so sadly claustrophobic that tight on his face with incredibly expressive eyes and the absolutely phenomenal ending scene (marred only by anime's normal over-repetition of flashbacks lessening the blow of hearing him say "That's not what I wanted you to say") with his clutching his chest and crying and All Might's wonderful delivery of "You can be a hero" In the manga it always read more as he shouted it approvingly or encouragingly but I have to say him saying it like he did in the anime made it so much more emotionally effective.

I still love the idea of All Might. You have all these heroes that can shoot water to fight fires or a woman who is really big but can't control it or have wood controlly powers and then All Might literally changes the weather just based on the wind pressure from one of his punches. It's so great.

MHA chapters are dense af, and chapter 1 was 30 pages instead of the normal 18.

More than likely they had to stretch out at least one episode in order to finish where they want to with only 13 episodes.

The second chapter is getting great reception over here with new watchers, my facebook news feed is getting blasted with screenshots.

I get that but considering most manga cover like...multiple chapters in their first episode it's just an odd way to do it. Odd, not bad. It just makes me wary about later pacing as that could mean they rush stuff to reach certain points (which is a show killer) or elongate other chapters/plot points which can drag a show down. Obviously anime as a different medium needs to adjust it's pacing to flow differently than a manga but these are issues a lot of anime have that I'm hopeful this one will not.

Also, the voice acting is on point. Deku, Bakugou and especially All-Might are perfectly cast

episode 2

this is a lot better then the boring episode 1, it did a wonderful job restoring hope.

much stronger direction then the first episode, better use of music and all might voice is interesting to listen to then the others.

Goes to show much a difference having a stronger episode director makes.

theres no way this anime is 13 episode only if the last two episode coverd half a chapter each.

Wow this is an OUTSTANDING adaption so far.

I am enjoying it even more than the manga so far. Colour, sound and motion add so much.

I wish I had friends who are into anime :(

Judging from the characters that have appeared in the OP, the adaption will end around chapter 20/21. My guess at least.

I don't really understand, can the show not simply change timeslots? A year gap between 13 episodes is a big deal.

Is it really a bad thing to wait. The next season could be a 26 episodes and more of the manga content could be covered. The manga is clearly experiencing explosive sales just from ep1 so its not like it wont get a second season.

If you don't mind you could join facebook anime communities online or go to local conventions, I am fairly sure there are anime fans pretty much everywhere nowadays. I know I met most of my anime-watching friends on those (and college). Although it was my current gf who got me into anime seven years ago.

Don't do it, Anime is for jerks.

Episode 2

Another great episode. Bones is knocking it out of the park with this. Midoriyas struggle with accepting his 'reality', but ultimately still choosing to fight it, and then at the end he gets to hear the words he always wanted to hear, spoken by his biggest idol were soooo goood. So damn emotional.
I'm so happy for Horikoshi. After getting cancelled 2 times, he's finally found success with his 3rd try.

And I wouldn't be worried about the future pacing or anything. Bones have given this really special care so far, I can't really see them rushing things for some arbitrary reason now.
They might have just adapted half a chapter with each episode so far, but the pacing has been excellent.

I couldn't finish the first episode. I was expecting it to be OK, but it wasn't; it was awful. The biggest problem I had was that the tone was all over the place. It had the old anime problem of having poor fluctuation between comedic and serious moments. In the classroom scene with the bullying, and also in places such as Deku's reaction to the doctor, the framing, art, sound effects, and the like felt like the show wanted me to laugh at Deku, completely undermining any sympathy it wanted me to have with him as well as the thematic issues it was dealing with. It was embarassing to watch. My Hero Academia simply solidifies my opinion that Kenji Nagasaki is a mediocre director, with Gundam Build Fighters the one fluke.

Some of that's the fault of the source material, not the director.

Charizard normally only has 4 teeth, lol.

Not only more teeth, but they're pointing outward like a creepy monster.

This is my question. We know that the first quirk'd person was born in China, but after that, no clue.

Well, they showed up all over the world, so what we're seeing now probably happens elsewhere but to varying degrees of danger. I imagine All Might was stationed in a more intense location but moved after what happened to him.

Fantastic second episode. I'm almost regretting reading the manga because I think this adaption has actually been superior so far.

Is All Might actually Japanese or?

Good episode. Never actually felt slow but in reality this is going pretty slow. Now I'm really starting to question how many chapters they are going to cover.

Well the OP contains scenes from
USJ
so that'll probably be the last arc it covers.
