Eh if the MHA isn't to someone's taste then let them miss out. Me on the other hand I'm excited for next episode.

I read like 25 chapters now and I don't feel like I've made wrong assumptions.

I think you are right and I love the manga to dead, but I also think the story is better for it. Manga Spoilers.
Keeping him with no powers would be extremely hard to write in a Shonen. and the way its been managed so far is extremely entertaining, at least for me.

I'll also suggest new manga readers to post their impressions on the manga thread! Posting manga spoilers here is extremely tempting for anime watchers.

Deku's silent comeback to "go kill yourself" being "well if i kill myself you'll go to jail" is top tier bullying writing.

I know, it's just unfortunate, because I really didn't like him. I can tell he is going to be a constant antagonist though..... I hope he get's his chance one day to pop him in the mouth...

True, but he was a punk, so he needed to get popped.

This scene was pretty sad and you really felt bad for him..

I have to say the anime execution of this scene was lame, they really dropped the ball.

I hope there are better episodes directors working on this show.

With the way the story and scenarios have gone so far it would have looked really really dumb to
keep him with out powers

anyways we got one for all and all for one as the basis for the overall plot which is way more interesting then deku as batman. Not to mention batman only works because he is a billionaire who trained his entire life. It would look really stupid to have deku fighting people with super powers when he has next to no training or resources

I have some thoughts concerning this, but I'll post them after the relevant scenes have been aired.

Speaking of what this series was "meant" to be - (mild manga chapter 3-4+ spoilers): http://i.imgur.com/173E6rl.png

Fucking editors.

In this case editors did good. The mango is more interesting (to me) and Horikoshi has suceeded (after two failures). The editors also helped fix bakugo with horikoshi.

The series entire overal plot (that is not revealed until like chapter 59) is reliant on this editor change.

Can't agree there as I said in the series manga thread, but that's not something for this thread when the anime won't even scratch the surface of why I have a problem with him.

Saw this awesome drawing done by the artist behind MHA, wasn't sure if it belonged in here or some pokemon thread.
Big fan of his art-style

Not sure why I didn't catch it before but Deku's origin setup has a LOT of parallels with Captain America's origin story.

So anyway, yeah, I'm a big fan of these first two episodes. The scenario in episode 2 was cliche but I'd be lying if I said the execution didn't tug at my heart strings and get my blood pumping. SHONEN HEARTO indeed! Speed line abuse is a bit much though.

Episode 2 ends probably where episode 1 should have ended, but this is still an ace adaptation of the manga.

I dunno, these two episodes could've probably be condensed in 1.5 episodes or so but only one episode I think would have been moving too fast. I didn't really feel that episode 1 dragged to be honest.

Was expecting episode 2 to end at the end of Dekus training, but i guess they lengthened it out to properly build Deku and All Mights relationship.

That Hayashi soundtrack is delivering on all fronts.

I actually preferred the Manga version of this scene

Just cause it felt much more intense with the sharp lines, tho the anime version has its own charm

Also i hope people watched the preview to see the direction we're headed :)

Just watched the new episode. Its obvious that they had to pad it out a little to fill out the whole episode, but ultimately I understanding the pacing choice somewhat now.

Small detail which I appreciated, and just double checked actually isn't from the manga - having the other heroes protect the crowd during the Detroit Smash.

Was a good episode for sure. Agreed that the Manga did the "you can be a hero" moment a bit better, because it just highlighted the raw emotion better, but the anime put a little more time into the other professional heroes, which was pretty cool.

Really enjoyable episode once again. I'm glad it wasn't him suddenly developing a power to save stick up his ass kid, but rather his bravery forcing All Might into action. Only 13 episodes is shite, though.

Deku cries a ton, that being said the episode was pretty good and I hope the series keeps it up. The pacing makes me wonder how far we will get because it is pretty slow

There were 2 scenes in this episode that I vastly preferred the manga version.

That scene, and the spread with the dash.

I couldn't finish the first episode. I was expecting it to be OK, but it wasn't; it was awful. The biggest problem I had was that the tone was all over the place. It had the old anime problem of having poor fluctuation between comedic and serious moments. In the classroom scene with the bullying, and also in places such as Deku's reaction to the doctor, the framing, art, sound effects, and the like felt like the show wanted me to laugh at Deku, completely undermining any sympathy it wanted me to have with him as well as the thematic issues it was dealing with. It was embarassing to watch. My Hero Academia simply solidifies my opinion that Kenji Nagasaki is a mediocre director, with Gundam Build Fighters the one fluke.

I watched the first episode and then read the first four chapters. I was pretty disappointed that
he actually does get some sort of power. I thought the whole point is that he was powerless and is gonna make up for it with intelligence/analysis/hardwork - but nope, just like any shounen protag he has to have some kind of explosive secret powers. How dull.

I was hoping he would make up for it in that way also...
Not necessarily Batman but maybe more Detective Conan, Robin, or maybe becoming Cyborg-esque and saying "everyone told me I couldn't be a hero because of genetics, so I forced myself to prove that I don't need their genetics." *insert good music for possibly good scene*

Also, so far this seems like the exact type of show One Punch Man makes fun of.

If that's what you want, then MHA is going to be the exact type of show you hate.

And the exact type of show I love, but opinions.

Love the manga, love the show, looking forward to seeing Ep 2.

Still can't believe this is only 13 episodes. I have no idea where this will end.

No worries, I've already lowered my expectations from what I've witnessed.

Edit: I'm still interested even though I'm beginning to know what to expect.

You can be a hero scene kinda straight up sucked compared to the manga version imo, and the dash while it was well animated lacked the punch the manga version had.

Still a good adaptation, and I enjoyed the episode lots.

Well OPM makes fun of shounen tropes and Hero Academia happens to be just a really good shounen.

also good episode.

I started reading the manga right after I marathoned reading One-Punch Man, and while I really liked it I stopped just because I was nearing the end of the manga high I just had.

After watching the first episode of the anime (and actually crying D':) I am debating if I should just splurge on the manga or wait every week for a new episode.

I loved the first episode so much, man. I love everything about superhero-y adaptations.

Second episode is great. Kinda crazy how the first two episodes only adapted one chapter yet the pacing still felt good. I expect they'll speed it up for the remaining episodes though.

Likely after the
Rescue
arc. It'd be too hard to squeeze anything else in. Assuming this gets a second cour, it will be pretty jam packed as well.

Yeah,I can only see it end after the
fight between Deku and Kacchan
which to be fair, while cool, still leaves SO many awesome things out of the anime D:

And we'll have a huge break till season 2 :(

Episode 2
Damn, that was friggen good. Like really good stuff. I mean yeah, a little over-the-top with the cheese, but it was still damn good in the story presentation and hero depiction. Feels good man.

The show is much better than I anticipated through 2 episodes. And no, I didn't read the manga and won't keep referring to those nestalgic feelings on how the original is better, lol
