Just watched episode 4 of the dub, man I'm loving the anime as much as the manga (Which I'm only following at the rate of the Viz/SJ translation, no scanlations for me).

I gotta say I'm not really feeling the opening theme though. It seems to take too long to get going for the kind of show this is. By the time it starts getting really pumped up it's over. Maybe the full/long version is better, but the TV version just isn't clicking with me.
The in-episode music though is absolutely perfect.

Ochako's dub voice is a bit too "valley girl". I know it's Luci Christian's Texan accent but it lacks the "cute" that I imagine her voice to have. Not a bad performance but it is noticeable.

yeah, kinda surprised at some of the cuts/adaptation; a panel cut from Mt Lady and Kamui, no shot of Bakugou not-reacting to Mido talking about his suit, the bus scene didn't quite have the comedic timing of the manga, and Handsy's reveal was nowhere near as fuuuuuuucked as it should've been.

But still... can't complain too much! It was still pretty good.

Also Handsy didn't get to deal his cliffhanger line which was siiiiiick.

I think they did add Iida yelling in the bg at Bakugou while Midoriya is being amazed at everyone teasing Bakugou, so that was nice.

Also I love how they already got the teasing to Bakugo, he's finally being shown to be an integral part of the class and has friends and stuff. I cant wait for more. Best was Kaminari's lines, but then also the moment when he was wanting to be class rep. Imagine class rep Bakugou. Need.

Was really waiting for some class time, they really need to start bonding together, hope this becomes more costant in the future.

Thirteen's design is super cool.

Also Ochako, Tsu, Half-naked rep, Alien Girl, edgy short haired girl etc. this show has way too many good read: waifu level female characters.

Can't wait to see where it goes next week.

Re: that manga panel. They were doomed from the start, even if they recreated the panel exactly. The unsettling thing about that panel is that the hands on the face, coming out of the portal and on the back of the head all appear to be the same. You're left wondering "what the fuck is this monstrosity". It's impossible to get the same reaction once colored.

Deku's reaction to Bakugou getting roasted on the bus was gold. I'm also starting to see why the supporting cast are held in such high esteem by the manga readers. They're all pretty fun, except for Psyduck who I don't think has even uttered a word yet.

The negative is that the show has a really annoying habit of ending things just as the episode gets (or is about to get) really good.

They are sadly doing the minimum in that case. Other shounen anime did it better for certain scenes like HxH (well madhouse!). I rather hate the pacing, but season 2 is gonna rock.

Really liked the episode becuase we are starting to get to know the whole cast of classmates, and they are pretty amazing, the tropes are handle in a fun way and everyone seems like a good chap in one way or the other.
And how they roasted Bakugo on the bus, becuase fuck him. Wouldnt mind if the whole series stays like this.

13 is alaso amazing and I was laughing my ass off at the Universal Studios Japan gag as a theme park nerd. Even before they said anything, I really thought it looked like some universal studios (but I thought they were only going to use the word theme park becuase of trademark), but no, they went and did the whole joke.

Looks more like you're applying your own opinion to everyone. The responses here are overwhelmingly positive aside from the animation this episode.

Personally I agree that the pacing is awful, especially considering the fact that it's only 13 episodes. It's also not much better than the beginning of most shounen.
