MHA is really weird. Definitely not my favorite shounen, but it's increasingly finding its footing and building on itself in good ways. It never jumped out at me like "this is the best!" at any point, but it just really grew on me over time through the author's cleverness and overall tight pacing. It feels modern and self-aware while still being genuine about its themes.
If anyone's iffy on the anime but is enjoying the premise, I'd suggest just checking out the manga. It's really solid.
For what it's worth, I've heartily enjoyed the anime, if just for character voices and the excellent music. It's fun to see things animated, even if it's hit or miss here and there.
