Someone claimed that there were a number of sexist, racist, homophobic assholes being loud and annoying at Everfree, and that the convention staff did nothing, defending their actions as part of the brony experience. Sexual references were supposedly even yelled from the audience towards the child voice actors.

As someone else who was apparently there put it...

The Molestia meme was in full effect at the CMC panel, though I don’t think the VAs were aware of what it meant (thanfully). This was easily a situation where the staff could’ve done something…if they weren’t also joining in on it.

So of course bronies brought this issue up with the children directly via twitter, instead of simply making it clear at future conventions that there are rules against such activity, and that offensive behavior of any kind would not be tolerated.

I'm not going to believe redditors, sorry. Even if these were isolated cases they should not have happened and should not again. This also does not justify the hate mail and abuse that bronies are sending to these people.

I'd just like to state that I was at the con all weekend and didn't see any of this occur. Me and my whole group were actually impressed with the behavior of the bronies we saw, expecting something like what this post describes but seeing none of it.
Just my two cents.

Not that I particularly agree with "A Bitch with Bitch Opinions", but this has been an occasional problem. Be it on the internet or at a convention, we bronies are generally too meek to confront those sorts of people who misrepresent us with their bad behavior. We need to put a bit more pressure on those sorts of people and kindly ask them to stop.

This is something I can believe in.

As far as I read, the rumors are false and/or exaggerated.

Thing is, they're not "rumors", they're complaints, from people who claim to have been there. And instead of being taken at face value to make sure they can't happen, they're being denied and shouted down by people who "didn't have the same experience" (therefore anyone who did is lying).

I think the most telling comment was this one.

I was a security staff member at the con. I did not see any evidence of this type of rampant rudeness. For the most part, the crowd was very respectful, and, in my experience, anyone who was doing anything like what this post mentions was dealt with properly. I can say for sure that the person mentioned who wanted to "purchase pornography" was kicked out of the con.
Everyone should keep in mind that we are not omnipotent, and as such some of this stuff will unavoidably fall through the cracks, especially with a fandom that is enthusiastic and varied as this one is. I can say with 100% certainty, however, that this post is exaggerating or fabricating any problems with the con.

He was there and he didn't personally experience what the complainer claims, but he did experience and can confirm some of it (which rules out the immediately-jumped-to accusation that the complainer was an enemy of the con who didn't even attend), but... he can say with 100% certainty that the complaints are exaggerated or fabricated?

That's a load of crap. He cares more about protecting his con's reputation than taking a complaint seriously. Which kind of confirms yet another one of the complaints (that complaints weren't being taken seriously).

And when a minority of the people shouting the complainer down go this far, I have no trouble believing that a minority of the people at the convention were assholes.
