This. As mediocre and unecessary as Equestria Girls was, I don't see any reason to consider it non-canon. Flash Sentry appearing in this week's episode was just like any other minor character appearance. I don't understand why some people are up in arms over it.

Maybe not non-canon but I don't personally consider it a part of the show or at least don't acknowledge it. It's my personal head canon that it never happened. I have never seen EQG nor do I have any plans to see it and I'll think I'll enjoy the show more that way.
In a sense she hasn't lied. He's was a random character in the background who had no effect on the episode and was probably thrown in as an easter egg.
Probably and for good reason. Hell dude was in the wrong kingdom.
Speaking of that scene. Candice's whip is clean as shit, DIAMOND ASS TRAIN.

Really liked this episode. I remember people were worried they would neuter Discord after Keep Calm and Flutter On, but they didn't, he's still quite the troublemaker.
If I HAD to complain the song wasn't much of a song, more like a soliloquy with rhythm. But the season has been solid. Can't wait until next week!

I'm surprised Cadence didn't even ask Twilight who Discord was, I'm guessing she knew all about him.
Anyway a pretty good episode, I think season 4 has been very hit or miss..

Fucking love it. My favourite episode this season and one of my favourites in the whole series. The jokes per minute and visual gags are just mighty impressive. The animators seem they had a wonderful time animating this episode.
Discord was amazing (he needs to stay like this in any new episodes) and his song was just wonderful, if the genie was a villian this is the type of song he world do (loved the genie's lamp reference btw, all those disney tributes in that song were insane, the harry potter one was excellent).
Candence and Twilight pairing was awesome. We need more secondary characters episodes.
My little pony at its best.

I'm not sure that briefly showing up as a filler guard counts as "being a character in S4".
Dunno what to think about the Flash Sentry cameo. On the one hand, I'd rather nothing from EqG make it back into the regular show, but on the other hand, it was a minor cameo with no plot relevance. So indifferent, I guess.

That's a different thing from "not a character" i.e. "has not been written into any scripts", and would've forced her to clarify it again anyway.
I'd have rather seen the resources spent on a film that wasn't designed to push a spinoff toy line, but it's a otherwise an enjoyable romp that I'd put on par with the average episodes of this season. Good gags, slightly undercooked McCarthy plotting, and a bit of worldbuilding. Did more to address the "Twilight as princess" thing than the actual Princess Twilight Sparkle episodes, too.

Yep it's from A Canterlot Wedding, common known as Pointy Ponies on derpibooru.
I still can't believe that there is an uproar about a character that had a 5 second cameo. He did nothing, spoke no words. He's a more fleshed out character than Derpy, and yet nobody seamed to care about her plot-relevant cameo.

Before watching equestria girls I thought it was going to be really bad.
After watching I had lots of fun with the movie, but the character designs sucked major donkey balls. The unreal color skins were cringeworthy, so it's a pity about that.

I'm on the " don't talk about it " team. But you know what, flash sentry can be their silver, fine. They can keep that one, everything else don't talk about it ever again.

Sure, it was pretty weak, but hardly something you never speak of. It's not like Twilight Sparkle found that Flash was her long lost brother, fell even harder for them, then got pregnant while in high school only to give birth to pony babies in the hospital.

The entire show is a vehicle to sell toys. EqG just stands out as being particularly terrible both in concept and execution.
It's childish to refuse to acknowledge that it happened.
I've seen far, far worse children's movies. Equestria Girls is entertaining, and does what it sets out to well enough, in my opinion.
But enough about that, more about Weird Al Pony. Hurray!

I do not think that is such a good idea. Cult celebrities guest star in shows all the time, and I don't see threads about every single instance of that.

As I'm saying in my thread that I'm working on, we thought it would be a good idea to let those Weird Al fans who might be indifferent about the show know about it. Also, this isn't just random guest appearance, it's a full musical episode.

While I think it was a bit of a waste to allocate resources to it, it could have gone a lot more horribly.
dude theres special episodes like this all the time for shows; psych just did a full musical episode a few weeks ago for instance. yr prolly just gonna illicit a lot of brony hate doing that really
Illiciting brony hate isn't exactly hard to do though, is it? People will start that shit all by themselves in totally unrelated threads.
Not sure there's a lot to lose in this case.

I don't think I would watch it again.
But I still don't think it was really all that bad.
I think people overreact. I certainly wasn't excited for the concept and I think it was a pretty clear cash in and an executive decision in the end. But I think the "OMG NOT CANON NO REFERENCES ALLOWED" people are really overreacting.
