Episode was eh. Al is a good artist, but he must write and not only sing. Songs were forgettable at best.
Idk, the more i watch this show, the more i want to drop it with every new episode. It's not funny, slightly amusing, songs are really bad in this season, and it's all kinda repetitive. Animation is gone to the dogs, this ep was really bad in that concern. Last episode of S2 was the peak of this show, and it never was as good again.
Probably will still finish this season, out of curiosity.

I dunno, but for me this season has been a blast, far, far better than Season 3. Apple Pinkie Pie, Three's a crowd and Rarity takes manehattan are some of the best episodes of the entire series.

I don't think that we've been watching the same show, or that we've seen the same episode.

In my opinion, this episode was arguably the best episode in the season so far, undoubtedly the best Pinkie episode (yes, better than Party of One), and one of the best in the whole show.

Animation and facial expressions were top notch, the songs were not particularly catchy but were amazing in the context of musical storytelling, and the story was great.

Believe the hype.

I caved and watched it. Really enjoyed it, and while the songs may not have been as memorable as the very best examples the show has to offer, they were still fun and well-performed as always. Al was a lot of fun too.

Probably the best Pinkie episode in recent memory, for my money.

I guess I'm categorising Pinkie Apple Pie as a dual Apple Family/Pinkie story, as opposed to a solo Pinkie story ala Party of One. Which is good for me, because I'd have a hard time choosing a favourite between it and Pinkie Pride.

I swear to everything I hear this so much, that I want to punch a box of kittens! Don't make me punch a box of kittens!

Please enlighten me specifically, what it is, and examples of what animations and songs being better. I shall agree Season 2 was fun, 3 was wasted potential (and rushed), but 4 is not too bad. I hear this so much, and it honestly drives me crazy... and I prefer driving myself!

*Ahem* I shall see the episode tomorrow, so I have no idea what to expect or whatever, but as a general rule, and Pinkie starred episode, is much better than pink demon doing things in background for laughs (yes.. I actually do enjoy the episodes, despite my opinion on the pony herself.)

Anyways... I am hoping everyone here is doing ok. Sorry if I seemed rude.

If I spend too much time elaborating, I wouldn't get to the point. That being said, I think Season 4 so far has easily met or exceeded the whole of Season 2; makes me glad I gave it a chance. Seriously, after Season 3, I thought Season 4 would be lame and I was ready to go comics-only.

Huhmm....didn't like the episode, and I usually love musicals :(

Thought all the characters are the most one-dimensional ever seen in the show. It just has guest episode written all over it.

Maybe I'll like it more on rewatch though.

Edit: Pinkie's solo song was awesome.

Yep, on quality per episode season 4 has been the best imo.

Really enjoyed the ep this week. Was pretty much exactly what I expected. Fun and light with great music. Loved that Mr. & Mrs. Cake along with Diamond Tiara got in on the singing this week.

We now have 3 known gift givers: Coco Pommel, Spitfire and Cheese Sandwich... 3 more to go.
Curious to see who the other 3 will be for Applejack, Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle.
And hope to see all 6 of these ponies get together for their own adventure.

I find it especially interesting that in the case of Coco and Cheese, they have a deep admiration for the pony whom they bestowed their gift to.
That says volumes about Spitfire - but when will she let that guarded reputation of hers down so we can see it?

Is it just me or has Zecora been conspicuous by her absence of late?

Can't wait for next week! Expecting Tabitha to top herself once again.

The episode was absolutely fantastic.
The Goof Off song was a blast
The part were weird al sings smile, smile, smile and Pinkie gets angry and starts singing songs similar like Weird al's real ones was incredible. Its was great to get and official pony weird al polka Also real boneless and gummy!

The rest of the songs were really fun and great, and it was fantatsic to see so many ponyville secondaries being part of the epsiode.

One of the best Pinkie Pie episodes, and Im a huge fan of her.

This season is being awesome and on the right track. Right now.

Season 2 > Season 4 >> Season 1 >>>>>>>>>> Season 3 (pardon them, there was a gas leak).

Well, I really liked the episode.

I definitely agree that Season 2 was probably the best season... for now. But if Season 4 keeps up its strong streak that its been on, I think it can potentially fall in as the best season yet.

Fleur de Lis and Cadence and Flim and Flam and Mr Cake are just tall and lanky ponies. Just a different body shape for variety.

We're at what? 77 episodes now? It's easy to understand if you're not as into it as before. No more new car smell. It feels repetitive; it probably is. I dunno what to say. If you like the show, cool. If you don't like the show, cool. If you liked the show before but not as much this season, cool.

Episode is what I thought it would be, and I saw Matilda the donkey.. this pleases me more.

Need to rewatch again, but yes, this means I liked the episode. (don't be so shocked)


I am actually requested by my brother to DRAW her too... I am not happy, but I am planning something... After all, when life gives you lemons, smash them in its face, and make your own damn lemonade!

I feel like we've done the "everyone's distracted by something else MY LIFE'S PURPOSE IS MEANINGLESS oh wait everyone's back and they're sorry yaaaay" thing more than enough, but apparently they can overpower the well-worn plotting with pure energy if they try. Great songs, especially Pinkie's solo piece, and major points to Ingram for nailing Al's polka medleys.

1. The Changelings themselves. They showed up on Canterlot's doorstep without being noticed and nearly took it over. A Changeling can be anyone, especially the ones you love the most: your parents, your spouse, your children, and they can enslave you (or possibly even turn you into one of them). That's a very serious threat that I'm glad at least the comics followed up on.
2. This Day Aria. Chrysalis is scary here, walking around with no one suspecting a thing, with Shining Armor completely under her control (again, with no one noticing), while we feel for Princess Cadance who is scared to death that she's going to lose her would-be husband, and there's nothing she can do about it (at least until Twilight showed up). Also a scary thing to think about.

Interesting to note that Dan Ingram was responsible for both music and lyrics on three of the six Pinkie Pride songs, as well as writing the music on the other three. No idea how that guy finds the time.

Wish they retconned her to Ditzy so she could be referenced by name again. Especially since she had a role in Rainbow Falls. I like that they're using her less as a Where's Waldo thing, and more for visual gags.

Great episode this week. Even better than last week's :)
Season 4 really has turned this show around, which is great since Season 3 had me worried about where the show was going (and if it was still worth watching.)

Well this episode sure was awesome. THAT is how you do a celebrity cameo episode. Simpson, take notes.

Much of what I wanted to say has already been said, but it's amazing how the songs, especially The Goof-Off, sounded like something Al would do. But, for all the energy and Weird Al, I'm thinking Pinkie got the best song of the episode in Pinkie's Lament. Just gonna say this, Pinkie should sing more slow songs, she's really good at it.

In any case, this is probably the best episode of the season for me so far. And one of the best of the show overall.

Now, about that polka remix of The Smile Song... What a tease. I want a full version now.

This was a fantastic episode and a really nice shake up this season. The songs were charming, obviously because of Weird Al, the story was handled better than I expected and having not enjoyed most Pinkie episodes, this one has got to be the most memorable of them all. I was honestly worried they'd do the thing where the conflict would have no resolution for the other party, glad they didnt do that and make Cheese Sandwich the jerk character. Again, I cant stop praising the animation in season 4, especially that of CS and PP.
