My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 4 |OT| Twilight Princess Returns

But they weren't full of shit. They made a vastly superior product. It made cider just as good as the Apple family, but could produce in much greater quantities. Their only flaw was overconfidence by allowing the Apples to use more people and then becoming flustered in the end.

Yeah, you're right. Their production was definitely better. The problem with them, besides their overconfidence, was their greed. As I recall, their deal was fairly nonsensical as it made no sense for the Apples (and probably apples used to make cider, too) aside from "we can make cider faster, and this edge in production is an economic victory that invalidates your method/allocation of apples over time." What does making cider faster mean?

In fact, maybe outright lying (being a real snake oil salesman) is what's going to happen this time around.

I kind of expect the plot to go something along the lines of this:

hehehe

Oh man. I hate Discord as it is. If we get a "Flim Flam Bros are benign ponies who market things" I'll be pissed. Why bother calling them Flim Flam at all? Will we be teaching kids the merit of subversion and looking past the surface.

Slob Twilight is now canon.
Every time I see Twi act out like that I keep thinking it's been lifted from something Elaine did on Seinfeld.
Also, Spike's giant tower of nachos might well be the best gag of the season.

Fun ep this week keeps the recent streak alive. Easily the most Sweetie Belle exposure we've gotten from an ep since Hearts and Hooves Day. Really made Claire Corlett's deeper voice stand out.

Was also fun seeing Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon go into full fangirl mode.

Incidentally, I would be hard-pressed to think of another episode of Friendship is Magic that so reveled in subverting expectations as this one did.
Even the CMCs were calling attention to it with their expectations of getting teased relentlessly by Di & Spoon or Twilight getting upset and those things not actually happening.

I don't know what's funnier.
Scoot's goofy poses or Sweetie Belle's expression as she gets roped into joining them.

That entire burger shop scene was gold.

Oh, Sweetie Belle got a new voice actress? I thought she sounded a bit different.

I have to give them credit for attempting to do what I've been saying they needed to be doing since the beginning of the season. And it mostly works, as a CMC episode and without considering where it falls in the season. But it's certainly odd that all and only school-age ponies are obsessed with Princess Twilight and that it took them quite a while to figure out that she goes out and does stuff in Ponyville. Where were the gawking crowds in every previous episode where Twilight hasn't been exclusively in the company of ponies who know her well?

I didn't take to this one straight away, but it really grew on me as it went along. I loved seeing Twilight getting to do both Princess-ey things and ordinary things, and the plot didn't feel like a rehash of any previous idea. Certainly some of Dave Polsky's best writing on the show IMO.

Incidentally, was that some legit character progression for the Crusaders at the end? Sweetie's magic seems to be going great, Scootaloo can now unicycle and Applebloom's thing might be horticulture (of a sort).

The duck face continues.

God f*cking dammit, DHX.

Fair point. I guess you could make the argument that school-aged ponies aren't out-and-about in Ponyville during the day very often, or that many of them didn't twig the significance of Twilight being a "celebrity" until Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon starting making a big fuss about it.

The boring answer is Conservation of Detail, it would detract from an episode where her princess-ness wasn't a plot point.

The fun answer is she really doesn't get out that much and nopony goes to the public library.

Princess SunButt needs to stage another friendship intervention. When she's done eating her cake.

Thought this episode was alright, certainly not a memorable episode but I suppose they all can't be. My favorite thing about this episode is how Twilight is becoming more like Celestia. Her interactions with the Crusaders reminded me a lot of how Celestia deals with the mane six: with loving patience. I know this won't win me any friends, but I like how this episode shows how much Twilight has changed since season 1. I just wish the conflict wasn't so flat. Made for kind of a boring episode.

The burger scene was hilarious. Everything from Twilight eating like a total pig (how many burgers did she pack away?) to Scootaloo posing for the onlookers. Overall this was a middling episode, not bad but not great.

About time someone did.
In all honesty I can't think of a better setup for an episode, and I really really hope the idea is followed up on again after this.

I'm betting she asked Rarity first who then told her to ask Twilight...

Anyway I wish Scoots was there to learn something more interesting than very basic assembly, I'm also curious is to why her scooter is a piece of crap wooden board with wheels while the other's in this ep had basically razor scooters. And if CMC will continue building on this knowledge in future, will Scootaloo be called Unicycaloo? @_@

So, here's a wild guess. Scootaloo is very close to getting her Cutie Mark now. It'll be... a scooter. But not just any scooter, it'll be the first custom scooter she builds for herself after taking it for an awesome test drive. Because that would be a awesome way for her to earn hers.

You can't be the master of scooters if you can't both build and ride, after all.

Just got caught up with the episodes I missed. Honestly, I am in love with Season 4 so far; I would even go as far to say that it meets, and by the end of it might even exceed, season 2 (which is followed by 1 and 3 in my book). Still worried a bit on the final outcome of things, but I'm satisfied so far; Twilight Time was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

Fluttershy and Apple Blooms are actually cute. The rest are pretty scary.

Pinkie is the scariest, followed by Applejack, and then finally, what are you doing, Scootaloo?

Fanart prediction for this weekend: Breezies. Breezies everywhere! Canon ponies as Breezies, OCs as Breezies. Characters from completely different shows and movies as Breezies.

Oh, and i hope one of them addresses Fluttershy with a "Hey? Listen!" in the episode. Because the show hasn't been shy about pop culture references yet.

....well now I'll be incredibly disappointed if they say anything but that during the episode... Coincidently, I'll also be grating my teeth if I have to listen to that the entire episode, so kind of a lose lose situation.... Interesting design at least

I get that reference.

And they once again showed Doctor Whooves isn't taking that stupid Grey pony with him, but the adorable, Rose.
