Which confirms what I said :-D I can really see how MS would be the target of lawsuits because of course they would lose control of this emulation quite easily.
Disk is clearly not going to happen with this. I would be surprised if MS could convince the publishers to allow BC on PC side that would let people play games their own.Unless it's disc BC (and I mean playing the disc version, not downloading a digital version after inserting the disc) it's an impossible goal.
There are games that it is almost impossible to obtain licenses for, because the publishers/IP holders no longer exist and getting them would be a never-ending red tape nightmare.
I guess the benefit would be to enable sales of older games without PC ports, so we shall see

So it has a disc-drive? Nice, got some OG Xbox & 360 games lying around.
If billions had to be burned and thousands of blue hair San Franciscans had to be laid off to get Lost Odyssey on PC then so be it
It makes sense. Epic gives away free games just to try and build up people's libraries for digital capture. Preserving a 20 year history on PC for digital capture is worth something and would help establish their store for sure.Too many legal roadblocks and even if they could it would make no business sense.
Yeah and how's that working for them in their fight against Steam? It makes sense. Epic gives away free games just to try and build up people's libraries for digital capture. Preserving a 20 year history on PC for digital capture is worth something and would help establish their store for sure.
I wrote it with a pinch of sarcasm.Where does it imply that?
USB drive.I wrote it with a pinch of sarcasm.
A disc-drive in a ROG handheld device doesn't seem to be state of the art.
Microsoft coming up with "revolutionary cloud AI technology":Yes, it's called emulation.

It's bizarre people are reporting this as news when it EXISTS FOR MANY YEARS NOW.
Also, Xenia might as well be a non-entity for me as long as it can't play Deadly Premonition properly.
?
Deadly Premonition is native on PC.
And if you have some strange desire to play the original instead of the directors cut version, you can just do it via RPCS3 or Yuzu.
Too many legal roadblocks and even if they could it would make no business sense.
The PC version is notoriously broken even with Durante's fix. And the PS3/Switch versions are also the terrible director's cut versions.
This is incorrect. The switch version in particular is based off the original.
Regarding the PC version, by all reports it runs well now provided you apply the following fixes (which all in all is less work than getting any kind of emulator set up and configured for this game in particular):

The PC port of Deadly Premonition usually requires a fair amount of work be put into it before you can become satisfied with the game itself. I knew this prior to even purchasing this game and still wsteamcommunity.com
You're asking and waiting for something that already exists.
360 emulation still isn't great in my experience.Yes, it's called emulation.
For me, that means the is no real big market for x360 emulation.360 emulation still isn't great in my experience.
Bro, I'm telling you it's based on the DC, lol. It uses the PS3 version's mechanics, just strips out the extra non-canon cutscenes that were added cause they conflict with DP2.
It has the same shitty camera, driving physics, stripped down lighting, almost all contrast removed, removes fixed-camera angle scenes, missing textures etc, all these issues were introduced with the DC version and sadly that's the version used as base for all future ports.
It somehow goes beyond and compresses the audio even further too over the other versions too.
Please trust me on all things Deadly Premonition.

If you have some spare time and the love for the game, watch this exhaustive video someone put out comparing all the ports.
Even with Durante's fix and various online recommendations, the PC version is extremely hit or miss, with it being a miss for most people.

I guess there's a reason you snipped the reddit link out the post of mine you quoted:
Look, you're entitled to your opinion, but the reality is that most people on PC are not sitting around waiting for the Xbox emulated version of a niche cult classic that already has a native version on the platform.
But overall, that's the reality of this situation. Most 360 games already have native PC versions, while for those that don't, the efforts have been made to ensure the vast majority of the non-natively available games are running well on Xenia. And in the case of 3rd party games of that era which never got native PC releases, they are all playable via PS3 or Wii/wii U/Switch emulation.
Preach! Hell, fire some more.If billions had to be burned and thousands of blue hair San Franciscans had to be laid off to get Lost Odyssey on PC then so be it
All the same points of playing newer games except graphics (technical).Apart from nostalgia I do not see the point playing 15-20yrs old games.

I'm a fan of RT and the new technologies that are being implemented in games. Nevertheless, I often play 20-year-old games and enjoy them just as much as when they were new. Modern games have amazing graphics with real-time lighting and high-poly assets, but often lack soul, making them boring to play. Hellblade 2 is a good example of this. The graphics in this game are stunning, but I had to force myself to play this walking simulator.Apart from nostalgia I do not see the point playing 15-20yrs old games. As long as it can play last 10yrs games it should be fine. Rest will be via streaming I am sure or in windows mode using some emulation which obviously will not be supported by Microsoft but just like PC it can be done.
