It worked so well earlier today, got 3 games in a row in without much problem, only a bit of lag, so I REALLY hope now it works. sorry about that, my router's pain in the butt sometimes and not the best for wifi :/
Good shit tonight for the most part, I started to find my game again with my new build and I'm racking up some points. I played better at center too then I did wing. For you Smiley you just need to know when to be aggressive and when not, and position yourself better because winger's kept beating you on the far side every time. Besides that you were pretty sound, just watch where you are and where your D partner is, because both you and Delryk would go up really high and there would be no one back or you would leave your partner out to dry. Playing a few games with Viz will probably help you get all that. Most of the games we lost were really close ones and by 1 goal, so I feel pretty good about how we did. It would be nice to figure a PP setup just so we aren't scrambling all the time.

Anyways, this games feels weird as fuck to play right off the bat. The new skating and not being able to turn on a dime are pretty disorienting at first. Seems to play as usual when you get used to it though.

I might have missed the first time he asked me because all I remember was discussing everything game related here with no complaints until that one post to Sox because it seemed easier and convenient to just post here, then I get a rage post about how I am not allowed to post here. The goalies are too good for really goods plays like breakways/penalty shots and cross creases, but are terrible with crappy angle wristers and stuff like that...
I was hoping they'd put in AI scaling, since the game should be able to read everyone's ratings and make appropriate adjustments to goalies and the like.
I'd rather have a goal against because of a bullshit goal rather then an exploit though, that's probably just me.
Yep and since trying cross creases is the only thing we do on offense, we don't score.
We were playing pretty well and scoring before you came on, it's just really difficult to get into the zone to get a shot off, and shots from the point aren't getting through cause all 5 guys stand in front of the goalie and spam poke check.

Nobody is forcing you to skate into the guy. If you're getting poke checked then it's your fault for being too close. This isn't 12 where you can skate through people all the time.

We're just gonna suck for a while. Despite Viz's claiming the contrary I don't know what the fuck I'm doing. I can sometimes knock the puck away from people which works out well, but most of the time I can't strip people of the puck. And like, I've always been pretty bad at being in position, but the new skating is really not helping my offensive positioning. My sniper build has yet to get a proper wrister on goal, all are blasted wide, only my horrible flubbed shots actually get on net. Blargh
I agree with whoever said "we should start passing to the people on the point more often, they're free all the time" earlier today, no idea who that was though. (red? Moop? Viz?). Delryk and me were free quite a few times.
Shots go wide anyway, so not standing in front of the goal but more to the side is probably the way to go, esp if the front is too crowded and go for redirections?

Its all gonna come down to people getting used to how the game plays now, its taken me about 30 games to get a grasp on how you need to move around now and control speeds, but I had to break old habits from the 1000's of club games I've played in the last 2 years and now I feel like I have full control over my guy 90% of the time. You also need to be more precise with choosing the speed and direction of your passes now, as both are more sensitive.
You guys are going to need to be willing to admit that you need to relearn how to play, rather than blaming the game. Shit has changed, and for the better. "poke check is OP", "my guy is is too slow", "my player turns like a tank", "good shots don't go in anymore", "we get no breaks", "the goalie saves everything" and "the goalie gives up soft rebounds" are all just excuses at this point.
I've watched the good teams that have destroyed us so far and observed what they were doing to score goals. It's rarely been a fluke, they just have good control over their players, get off shots from good areas and make their own luck.
There is a decent-sized learning curve and Marv has made the biggest point. You just cannot skate into tight spaces anymore. You also need to be really aware of moving and shielding the puck from the poke checks. You have to be elusive with your stick to keep it away from pokes and maneuver it around sticks before making passes.
It comes down needing to move the puck rather than try to maneuver through 2 guys now. And to move the puck with any success, players off the puck need to make sure they are in the right places to provide passing options. We need to work more as a team and try some different options besides try to get the puck up the ice as fast as possible and take the first mediocre shot attempt that is given.
The good news is that we have the talent and players who have hockey sense and/or the stick skills to figure this out if you decide to accept the challenge. It's just gonna take awhile, longer than it usually does for us to all gel and figure it out.

Lol I've been trying to get them to pass it back to the point since the beginning of NHL 12 but to no avail ;_; And passing to the dman is even more important this year....
To put it in perspective how bad it was last year, I had 281 games played for the club and only 328 shots on goal. This can't fly in 13 guys, and I already notice that all our dman have way less SOG than what we need. When all the guys are clogged up around the net throw it back to point if the dman is open, it really can't hurt.
I agree with all that, and I don't think we have anyone on the team who doesn't think we need to relearn, but that's the thing, it's going to take us time and we're going to lose a bunch of games, we're clearly not starting off 20-0, and people need to be patient while we go through this re-learning process.
