NBA 2016-2017 Season |OT| What do the Liberty Bell and Ben Simmons have in Common?

In the playoffs sure, not in the regular season tho. Nuggets won 57 that year

That's the thing. You'll make the playoffs, but will usually miss out on talent since drafts aren't very deep. So you either tank or try and trade some of that deep talent for top talent.

So you're middling.

I will eat a shoe if the Magic even get to within 10 wins of that with this roster.

Nah not with Vogel. They have 3 solid bigs in Ibaka, Vucevic and Biyombo. Gordon and green, who both can play 3 and 4. Fournier, Hezonja and watson. Then Payton, DJ and Meeks

I still think they can make the playoffs but I can also say the same to all teams on the east other than Philly and Brooklyn

There might be 12 teams who are legitimately fighting for playoff spots. It's gonna be a bloodbath.

Incredibly Naive
Celtics seem kind of middling. What a surprise.

I think they've looked pretty great outside of a few lapses on defense. I think Smart will sure that up though. That being said it doesn't change the fact that they're still not title contenders. I still think they should move isaiah if they get a nice offer for him, but w/e. I continue to be proven wrong about Crowder who continues to improve his game. He's a damn good two way player. He's not quite all star level, but he's definitely a good piece. Jaylen has also looked really good on both ends, with a few rookie mistakes here and there, but his ability to finish has really popped here early on.

lol, that was the quickest post-game interview I've seen from coach cliff. basically credited the celts as one of the top 3 teams in the east, gave respect to avery bradley, and then said that the defense was shit in the second half with no questions asked after.

"I'm really, really, really disappointed in our defense though in the second half. I mean, a lot of it they played well but you gotta..when you play defense there's a way you do it. you have the right stance, you have the right talk, you have the right organization. that gives you a chance to win. guys start making their own stuff up you've got no shot against a good team and that's what happened tonight. when things get tougher you gotta do what you're supposed to do and that's not what we did. so that part is disappointing and it'll be cleaned up."

hope they have fun at practice the next couple of days

Dejounte Murray's first action. Kid's dealing w/ some nerves, but goddamn does he look super-athletic. Can't wait to see him play once he knows what he's doing.

Starters didn't even play 4th quarter for the Bulls......this team is a sleeper I think. The chemistry right now is amazing for having 3 alphas in the starting lineup.

Do I think they are going to win it? No

Will they make the playoffs.....most likely

And it will be entertaining to watch them make it!

Denver has a low key good team. That front court is ridiculous. They might make the playoffs. Also Mutombo really does sound like the Cookie Monster lol.

What y'all think of this order, namely the top 20? Anyone I'm missing or should reorder?

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Celtics seem kind of middling. What a surprise.

Horford is an upgrade at his position compared to what the Celtics had last year.

That being said there is a reason the Hawks as an organization got Howard. Horford can be a defensive/rebound liability in certain games despite his offensive production.

He just doesn't have the athleticism. I think Jordan Clarkson is destined to one day be like a top 6th man on a championship contender.

Maybe. I need him to be a lot more assertive and consistent. He was great in the first couple of years when no one was game planning for him.

I really want to like Clarkson but I'm not there yet.

All this KAT hype, and the best player on the team has quietly been Wiggins. God damn the wolves are going to be good in a couple years.

Watching last night game and another big lead wasted, it's happening what so many people thought about the hype surrounding the Wolves this year. They still lack that player that takes over the game when everything fails.

Wiggins and KAT are great already but they are not those kind of players yet. Also those Rubio rumors are so silly because Kris Dunn so far hasn't shown he's able to run the offense. He will probably develop but if you want to get a playoff spot in the West you can't rely on Dunn this year as your starting PG (unless that elbow injury is more severe than first reports)

At least they have a bright future ahead unlike the Kings. I look at that roster and I see Cousins as the only building block for the future and he will definitely bolt as soon as you can. It's like their owner has been picking the wrong players in the draft for years...

I know it's an over used sports cliche, but I really think they just have to learn how to win. Once they learn how to recognize what they need and at what times then I think they will be fine. Just have to go through the different scenarios.

That's definitely it but if they don't acquire a veteran that has been through those battles already, those growing pains will take a lot more time than people realize. That's why I see this being still a building year not their affirmation year even with Thibs at the helm.

Yesterday they allowed a 17-0 run or something but worse than the run that can happen to any team is that players started to hide from the ball and the offense start to struggle, turnovers happened because players didn't want the ball. Sometimes you need a JR Smith that miss 20 straight shots but will still shot the next one because he's totally confident that next one will fall. Or maybe Wiggins becomes their Lillard as the main guy (yesterday the late comeback happened when he took the reins and played as PG instead of Dunn that really struggled running the offense), I certainly hope so because he's so much better than people initially thought he would be offensively.
