If the Clippers don't get decimated by injuries, they give the Warriors a hell of a run as well, though. Fact is, LeBron and Co. getting to coast through the regular season and first two-three playoff rounds doesn't prepare them for the teams possibly coming out of the West. The West top four would all take the Cavs (assuming good health).

Warriors
Thunder
Spurs
Clippers

The point is that nobody in the East, (outside of the Cavs against the other three), have a chance in hell against these teams. Nobody. So yea, the West is definitely as good as people are making it out to be comparative to the East.

And at the very least, a healthy Grizz team and the Blazers could easily compete with the top teams in the East as well. Memphis was actually not in bad shape until they practically lost their starting lineup.

It's really a shame that LeBron cared so much about getting "his boy" a huge contract at the detriment of his team. They had to give TT a ridiculous contract or risk LeBron getting mad.

Yeah but that was the Raptors.

Against a 10-0 Cavs team that had not been held to under 100 all playoffs, and was going to march against a shaky GSW team that was struggling against OKC with a healthy Irving and Love. The Raps' stock then was much lower than the Cavs' is now, so I think it's silly that Cavs fans are getting so down.

I mean, yeah, OKC are prolly gonna win the series, but have some pride.

Love contact makes sense since he was an offensive beast in the post, and could stretch the floor. He's terrible on this team, but there are multiple factors there.

TT however can't be justified. It's mindboggling, and is Lebron's fault.

TT was getting signed regardless. Cavs were over the cap and could only sign him. Highly overpaid, but LeBron loves spending Gilbert's money.

a "beast" who is completely useless against small ball lineups and can't score to save his life.

"beast".
Don't forget he is not a good rim protector and honestly for the one skill he is supposedly great at (rebounding) he has been consistently getting beat at even that on the boards by a small GS team.

Eric Apricot continues his excellent Explain One Play series. This one focuses on the defensive switches of both teams.

This is a really interesting play for watching GSW defense. The Cavs put LeBron up top, run screens on both sides of the court, on the right a Richard Jefferson backdoor cut (expertly not switched) and on the left, a flare screen for Matthew Dellavedova (expertly switched). This blows up the first options. Lebron will now get a double screen to isolate on Klay. Watch what happens.

LeBron gets the screens to attack Klay rather than Andre or Draymond Green. Good choice. However, instead of attacking Klay all the way to the basket, he hits Delly with a pass. Andre expertly closes out, and then the W's show excellent recognition. When Delly has the ball and Lebron is near the basket, the first option is always always Delly lobbing or passing to Lebron. Everyone stays on their man and Klay works hard to deny any kind of pass to LeBron by fronting with energy. The W's have turned Delly into a scorer, which is not a great option in general, and here he gets consumed whole by Andre.

Thanks for posting this. I think people tend to forget that Warriors are a very good defensive team. They were first last season and fourth this year right?
Yes, and third in Mark Jackson's last year. They've been consistently really good on that end for three seasons now.

KD should go to the Warriors. The pure fuckery that would ensue would be some of the best shit ever.

Not only would the Warriors become a powerhouse the likes of which we've never seen (other than some of those Celtics teams I've read about...but I wasn't alive for that)...They would also gut their biggest rival and thus be guaranteed Finals appearances for another 3-5 years and most likely chip for all of those appearances.

ALL because other players aren't getting paid TT money that doesn't mean he shouldn't be paid any more or less...
I dunno, it's a bit of an overpay. Doesn't help that he's going against someone who's making the same money as him but looks 10 times better in Draymond.

But I remember some in here earlier explaining that paying Thompson didn't really hurt Cleveland. Because they were already over the cap or something? I forget.

Yup. He's been a defensive disaster, but I totally expected that.

Did not expect him to not get to the rim more frequently, or at least be a better offensive option.

If he doesn't have the ball in his hands he is pretty much useless.

we can afford him, on 2 yr deal? Barnes walk, Mobucket leave ....

I would pay TT 8-10 Mil with 4.5% increases. Only because of his youth and athleticism (and nose for rebounding) but if I had the option, I would find a cheaper solution with a vet at the mid level exception.

Ultimately, yeah, when you are so over the cap like Cleveland is it doesn't really matter much how much you pay your own bird's rights guys. Whether they are paying TT $18 million or $8 million wouldn't really matter when you have LeBron/Kyrie/Love eating all of your space already. The only person that really affects is Dan Gilbert. It's not like they could have used that $80 million they spend on TT and gone after Al Horford or Dwight this summer instead. It does, if TT doesn't improve dramatically, make that contract pretty unmovable though. So if they want to try and get flexibility, blow things up, or if, god forbid, LeBron walk again, then it really fucks them over.

If I was a GSW player I don't think I'd even want that. They don't need it.

Lil B would lift his curse if KD went to GSW, right?

Watching the video from Richard Jefferson about how LBJ gave them the headphone when they went out to dinner, you can already see how much they were checked out before game 2 with all the whining about wanting to be back in cleveland.

As tempting a thought as that would be, I'd much rather see him go East. Just something to help balance out the league. Boston or Washington would be great.

I don't see how that would work. Even if the cap went up to $90m next year, with just the 8 players on contract through next year, Warriors are already at $80m. You can't take in a new contract that puts you over unless using an exception (and Durant would not go for $10m/yr), so the luckiest bet is to max Barnes and hope that OKC is willing to play ball by resigning Durant and trading him for Barnes + other pieces. Would probably have to involve several players and/or several teams to make it more likely. Even then, you'd be losing the deep bench, which is one of the Warriors strongest assets vs other teams.

One of the greatest strengths of the Warriors is their chemistry. They legit like one another and their trust in each other goes a long way into their winning. Why ruin a good thing? Even Varejeo commented on how they all like one another when he first got there.

yes, i know....but Durant is an unselfish player im sure he will fit in well, also he give us a inside scoring threat....and he can chuck the 3
