NBA Offseason |OT| "It's a complete shit move, but we're stuck with it now"

Seriously, don't see the point in Deng. He's gonna be cutting into Ingram or Randles minutes if he starts and if he doesn't. Why pay a bench mob guy such a ridiculous amount?

Im with you. Wouldnt it be far better for the team to invest in high risk high reward prospects and develop their current rookies rather than spend $ AND playing time on old vets?

All this will do is take playing time away from randle

But Deng? Mozgod? Conley?
Sure, why not. Bad teams have to spend more to attract players, and they still have to hit the cap threshold. Expected the hometown max for Conley too, he'd get a max offer on the market.

Edit: I do get the worry over years, fans don't want GM's to make mistakes they'll regret down the road. It all comes back to the league being in a healthy spot though. Can't get too worked up about everyone benefiting, from stars to bench players.

I'm just saying I picked up Deng as a free agent in MyGM as the Lakers and ended up winning the championship.

This will probably work just as well.

NFLPA should be embarrassed. Wtf do you guys still have non guaranteed deals?

The owners have all the power and it's not a star driven league. You could replace everyone with replacement players and NFL fans wouldn't care and would still turn up in record numbers.

Riley should have more than enough money to max Durant and sign Wade now right?

Or do they still have to get rid of Dragic and McBob to make it happen?

Because they don't have any player on the roster who can play defense, have 0 veteran presence. Having a veteran who can play defense and teach the young guys a winning attitude is valuable.

But for $136 mil? An assistant coach can do the same.

This is probably just the Lakers nuking the market because they can.

Edit: damn my man JLin better find a white-out and erase his signature. Dude looking like he took a paycut to play for a garbage team on a state with a high tax rate.

Deng signing was fine. He can still play and is a good guy to have around. They can move him if needed without too much trouble unless he completely falls apart

The Mozgov signing was the one that was completely silly with seemingly no logic behind it.

So the Lakers hire a coach to play in a uptempo style and then acquire Mosgov and Deng? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I saw it earlier but forgot to mention it. Al Jefferson signed with the Pacers? For like 10mil a year? Huh? You're telling me Delly is making more than this guy? Lol

Not talking about Mozgov because I'm not sold on the singing, but Deng has been one of the better defensive players at his position the past decade. Having him to teach Ingram and Randle how to play defense is something an assistant coach who never played at that level can't do.

To be fair Bogut played in GS and was pretty great, although Mozgov is no where as good.

Deng is valuable in small ball 4 lineups.

They will retain Amir Swedish Larry Bird and Fat Ass. Don't you worry.

Fatty reminds me of that gyy at the gym that can't run the court, so he just jogs from 3pt wing to 3 pt wing trailing the play and jacks up 3's non stop. Hyperbole I know, but we don't need another Antoine, we need him to bounce more peeps off dat fat ass.

My co-workers buddy deals black jack at Twin River which is a casino in Rhode Island. He said Sully was there almost every night even after games if they were in Boston.

they can make it work, however they have to sign Durant first then they can go over the cap for DWADE.
Doesn't work like that. Free agents that you have the rights to still count towards your cap. Wade takes up 30 million of their cap until he's signed or his rights are given up.

I was going of a tweet from Skolnik regarding how they would structure it.

Ingram will probably still start and Loul will be the first 3/4 of the bench. Unfortunately this hurts Anthony Brown's development, who I think has a chance to be real good as a 3/D guy under Luke's tutelage. I don't mind the signing. Gives this team a versatile veteran player.

I can't play anything, but for a million a year I would be willing to use my veteran presence as a positive influence on the Lakers. Practically a steal and they get access to the German market. Everybody wins.

I doubt Deng signed to be a bench player, Randle or Ingram are bench bound

We'll see but I wouldn't count on it.

By the way have Lakers just made it impossible for them to get 2 maxes in next summer's FA frenzy with all of this locked up money?

Why would the Lakers expect to get 2 maxes anyway? They couldn't even get meetings with LMA, KD, Horford or Whiteside but should hold out hope again for Westbrook and KD next year?

"being this team's Iggy" means something completely different on the Lakers.

it means being a veteran who comes off the bench despite being more experienced and making more $$$ than the guys who start.

I think the Deng deal is fine, the Lakers just need to work on becoming a team that isn't an absolute joke and Deng helps them achieve that. Teams are probably getting another amnesty in the next CBA anyways.
